The wiki suggests it is C#, but seeing the wiki call attention to the mod support seems encouraging.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vintage_Story
Tell me some more. Does this game syphon my data, is it a multiplayer only experience, can you set up your own server? I will begin my own research, but whatever information you have about this game would be helpful. If it is data safe and fun, maybe mlpol can get together and play it sometime.
Indeed you are right I fucked up it is C#. (even more based)
Been watching some videos on the game. Looks very interesting. I might be convinced to get it, but in order to run the game for an mlpol server we need to know we aren't going to have our IPs able to be snatched by anyone that joins or something like that.
What are you an 8kun refugee or something? Any kind of 3rd party app is going to carry a risk of IP leak. Anyway I have been looking into setting up my own server on a dedicated linux box but haven't quite been able to figure it out. The last one I tried didn't give me any kind of information on how to actually use the thing. I know how to ssh and ftp and all that but they literally gave me nothing on how to access it. If anyone could be of assistance in this regard I would be happy to host.
I will post some more keys in the coming days if there is still interest.
Just not tech savvy. I just don't want someone to pop in and doxx someone. I get there is always a risk, but some things inherently hold more risk, especially if the devs didn't focus on that aspect being a smaller studio.
I am definitely still interested. Maybe I will take enough to learn about coding to mod the game seeing as there is a decent modding presence on their site.
Can you make a mod to edit the skins into ponies? I am unsure that is possible because I have yet to be on any servers or find any mods with skins.
Seeing as it was somehow possible for Minecraft, it ought to be possible here as well. The major problem is that I know nothing about coding, so until I learn it will be just as fast to try it yourself.
Probably not that doable lol but getting all the armours and stuff to fit would be alot of work even besides just the code you would need to add. Pretty sure there is a furry server allready.

All the more reason to remove furries via the pony master race, no matter how long it takes.
Been absolutely lost in the immersion of this game and working towards building the next level of development naturally. Looks like the mods to add electricity systems are still in the works, but I need to get used to base game mechanics before I dive back into the world of making stored energy numbers go up. Thanks for sharing OP.
Any mods like the Minecraft Origins mod that put interesting twists and limits on how you play or offer interesting abilities?
Most of the mod's adhere to the vintage aesthetic, the game takes place in 1386 or so. There arn't any ADHD factorio/tekkit like mods yet because it would kind of clash with the games setting.https://mods.vintagestory.at/list/mod
Xskills is basically mcmmo and pretty standard for most servers.

This will probably cause drama but I don't give a fuck. Here is the IP of the "2b2t" of sorts of VS. There's some pretty neat stuff on it. I'll be playing on here if anyone wants to join and make horsepussy artifacts.
Looks interesting I'll give it a try
Damn. I unironically like building retarded overcomplicated overengineered contraptions of dubious efficiency.
Thanks again anon. Still getting used to the game on my own. I'll get around to joining when I learn to not get headbutted into a ravine and slowly starve to death on 1 hp remaining, losing all of my gear and sending me back an age or so in development. Very addicting though even in crushing defeat.
Oh, you guys found out about this game? That's really cool, i used to play this on /v/s server years ago.
It's a real nice game, but it's also real hard to get into, quite a learning curve and servers tend to deplete all of their resources quite fast too giving rise to weird anarcho capitalistic cities.>>166159>>166161
That's kinda sad, C++ is acceptable since it's just C with a bunch of bullshit on top of it, but C# is actually developed by >microsoft
Fuck microsoft and fuck .net
I'm pretty addicted to it. Still learning the basics, but even early game is pretty fun when you have nothing and are trying to make clay items. It has a lot of potential and maybe given enough time I will be able to engineer a pony mod for it.
You guys know there is a minecraft-alike that is open source and written in C++ with plugin support for lua...
its called minetest
It would be already hard enough to code in regular C
I mean very few 3d engines support regular C and those who do are pretty fucking old, i mean Duke nukem 3d and goldsource old.
Course there's also C++. not a big fan but many engines support it and it's pretty much just C with a bunch of bullshit added on top of it so it aint thaaaat bad if you stay away from OOP.>>166203
It really is fun, did you guys set up a server or something?
Not yet. OP says there is an existing server, but I don't feel I'm good enough yet to join, especially since survival is a bit tougher and combat less forgiving in this game. As I get more used to the game, I'll look into what it would take to host a server and mod the game as servers support modding.
The "OG" server as we call it is starting to get populated again after being pretty deserted for a while. It tends to go through cycles of activity and burnout. Don't hesitate to join. Most everyone is pretty friendly and can help you learn the more obscure facets of the game. There is no limit to the map size so if you wanna be a lone wolf you still can. The owner is very serious about keeping the server up indefinitely so building your first base on it just helps add to the history.
Anyway I wanted to bump because the server owner is doing an event:>Also I am gunna do an art competition in og soon like last year. Winner gets a 60 dollar steam game, three vs keys donated in their name to the bread, or maybe cash like I did last year but paypal is attached to my name so eh.>3x3x3 is the max size (can be smaller). Last year was 3x3x1 and was gunna be paintings but mael won with a lake monster. Ideally religious art is going to be the theme. It will be around Christmas time. So any in server religions (cult of the bee, seasonal offerings, order of chef) or irl (orthodox, zoro, buddhist, really whatever). Can be like a in game pixel art painting or sculpture. I will do the same as last year prizes and up it. It. 100 dollars worth of games, keys, or maybe btc/cash will be first place. Second will be 30 dollars worth. I forgot who got second but you can ask either winners I did deliver. Maelbek got cash.
(not the same thread but I will be competing on behalf of mlpol by making an Aryanne statue)
The deadline for the competition is Dec 18thish and you may start whenever.

FAQ:>"What will you do when 1.8 comes out"
Let the server dry up. I will provide a world download when the time comes>"Can you add X mod?"
Maybe but probably not. I will make an effort to test it first and if it causes no problems and people are alright with the risk then yes.
Oh shit. That’s petty cool. I’ll check it out. Got to tell me how you went about setting it up sometime.
I am just using one of those shitty pre-packaged hosts. "Nitrado"
It is a bit better than G-Portal.
It is working fine so far but I would really like to host on a dedicated linux box.
This is slightly outside of my skill level tho so I would be highly appreciative if anyone could help me out in this regard.
Also if anyone is versed in C# I would pay in BTC/LTC/ARRR for the creation of certain mods.
Bump time. Thought I'd update y'all on the game, post some more kino screenshots, and shill a little more.
First however I have some bad news. As of version 1.17.11 the game has updated its .NET framework to version 7. As far as I am aware this means there is no longer support for windows 7. This especially pisses me off because part of the reason I like the game is because it was allowing me to avoid the modern Microsoft antics of windows11/Minecraft_V19.84. On the bright side you can still run it on Linux and dodge bill gates entirely if you want.
Anyway I have learned a decent bit hosting my little experimental server and feel a bit better about hosting something more serious in the future. I will be forced to learn linux because of the .net thing soon so that's covered. Let me know what you guys would like to see in a mlpol tailored server. Also, the bounty still stands. If anyone can throw together a pony mod that'd be dope and I'll send you a few Monero. Not much but it's something.
If you haven't tried the game yet there is no excuse not to give it a whirl!
Here is a magnet link for version 1.17.9 torrent:
"OG" 126.96.36.199:28500 (requires acc)
"Nurodivergence" 188.8.131.52:10930 (if any pirates want to join let me know and I can disable auth.)
>thinking all the newfags were from discord shilling or reddit
>turns out they're all just mlp fags
It has been a while. Some anon might be working on ponyfag mod/server. Not really in the loop but I'll post here if I hear anything.
At first this thread had my interest. And then I saw this, and it has my full attention. Maybe tomorrow I can try this game.
Another anon has prepared a cracked version if anyone desires: https://pastebin.com/qNkx4kn0
I think there are also ones available on TPB.
There are couple servers alive at the moment populated by mostly 4chinners:
Hopefully anon finishes pony mod in two more weeks.
I watched part of a recent "100 days in Vintage Story" by an experienced player, but 48 minute days, and animal breeding / crops taking literal hours to come to fruition seems somewhat unfun. Maybe if there's a good gameplay series (one episode at a time) so I can see the actual time it takes to make progress in the game it'll click better.
It looks fantastic, I'm just worried about the time. Best case, I might have an opening in my having schedule in a few weeks. I'm sure a group server would make things more fun. If people are in to it, then I'm willing to hop in.
There are mods that make it more like minecraft or even more realistic and difficult. It is a fairly customizable experience. The only thing would be getting a server to have the mods you want if you go for multiplayer.
I'm a little worried about being able to be consistent about dedicating a few hours every week to a single game. I tend to graze and swap between games after putting in only a few days of time into them.
If I won't be able to play and accomplish much with just a few hours, then it seems like a lesser experience. If I'm in a group server and I can do something like landscaping or building to help out, then that's something that'll build towards something bigger.
As for now, there's a couple of different games that have my attention in the short term. I'll try to pop by the thread once in a while to check up on things.
It is definitely a time sink. Resources are not homogeneous like minecraft. Each place has unique mineralogy and it is very easy for a new player to be stuck in the stone age from lacking a particular thing. For example sometimes you must travel thousands of kilometers to find limestone or hematite which is needed to craft with leather and make iron tools respectively. There are also alot of chores to do when playing solo just to maintain your base. If I were you I would pirate it or something just to give it a quick glance. Then if you want to play in earnest come to the grassless server and anons can give you a hand. (I think pirate accs work but maybe not cause we have had issues recently) The game is much more suited to groups as people tend to fill various niches and scale them up so that the excess can benefit everyone leading to more free time. It is easier for once person to scale up what they are good at than it is to solo everything constantly switching gears only to scrape by.
Small update. Pony mod is in the hands of a severe autist so it shouldn't take too long but we'll see.
Amazing. I would play the game non-stop with ponies around.
Well, holy moly. I'm doing a bit of research on the game before turning in, and it looks like it's on the Humble Store. That makes it a lot easier to bite the bullet and get a copy of the game.
Ourguy says it's progressing good. Looks like the basic classes and flying stamina is set up.
It's going to be fun. Can't wait to get the whole package.
