This thread is for those who have successfully escaped the system or plan to escape the system with a homestead. Where would you build? How would you make money? How would you get food, power, and water? Is it more feasible to do it alone or with frens?
>>9073>...those who have successfully escaped the system...Someone who has escaped the system certainly isn't hanging around this site posting.
You are inside the matrix, looking for someone who got out.
>>9074Well then for those of us who plan to escape the system then.
>>9073i cant wait to finally leave it all behind, my boyfriend insists he has to finish school but i spend all day at this bum ass job thinking about selling my shitty condo and leaving the city. we would have the money to just go if we sold. one day he'll see the vision and we will escape. for now ill spend my days with you guys
>>9077I hope ur bf knows how lucky he is to have such a based waifu. ^^
>>9077School is debt. Tell him the sooner the better. I wish I skipped school and went straight to the homestead. Nobody is hiring new grads anyways.
>>9079i dropped out when i realized the only jobs grads were getting were just as soul sucking as my job already, more money sure, but wheres the fulfilment?
>>9078he knows, hes just kinda a cuck sometimes.
>>9080>the only jobs grads were getting were just as soul sucking as my job already, more money sure, but wheres the fulfilment? There isn't any, point is to get money so you can afford to escape eventually.
>>9081I can escape with the money I saved from school, I cashed out on scholarships and got 4 years of free board. been pretty much living off all the grants for anything personal and saving everything made to pull me and bf out once he's ready.
also I work for the city in a very liberal state so they pay me well for very little work. I get paid time per week just for attending school part-time in the hopes that I can be a woman in stem for the cities image. Little do they know I just get paid to send in the same school hours that I started using 3 years ago. Fuck the system up before it fucks you anons
>>9081How much would it take to escape? I keep looking at desert land and it is like 8k for a 10 acre piece of land on the Rio grande with river (water) access. What would it take to make something like that livable?
>>9083you only need like 5 acres to make it work, and consider looking more north. oregon and washington have so much good land that wont dry up on you for 80% of the year
>>9084and neither will the taxes, as they compete to out-communist Commifornia.
>>9085yeah land taxes are high in oregon but washington is fine, their low income taxes balance it out fine. just drive into oregon to avoid the sales tax. and as much as i hate the state, id rather pay the damn taxes instead of trying to fight it anymore. its not a fight we will ever win
>>9084But you need to be able to build your home. The desert has sand and clay for Adobe brick or super Adobe structures. With water and food from the river I feel like the desert would be a more affordable option.
>>9087thats true, ill have to consider that moving forward. i always pictured escaping involving getting a small modular home to start my mini settlement and the deserts up north seemed more desirable. i also have heat sensitivties so i keep that in mind too.
>>9089i think an rv or something wouldn’t be bad to get started, i dont see the need for needing to hand make a hut to start. my barns could be built up over time but id like somewhere structured to live at first
>>9091An rv would work for a start.
What kind of businesses could work for a homestead. Obviously farming, but what are some other ways to make money off grid?
>>9109Fossil and agate hunting might be options in some locations.
>>9109Really anything that would work from an on-grid property that didn't require heeps of electricity. It also depends on your off-grid property's location relative to on-grid customers, because naturally you'd need customers and a handful of far-spread offgridders are probably just going to supply themselves with necessities. This is why the first ticket to becoming self-sustained off the grid is having the ability to make money by offering a service independent of whatever house you may live in. A trade you can operate out of a van to drive to clientele.
As for ways to make money that benefits from being far away from prying eyes, brewing and distilling is the first thing that comes to mind. While still technically farming, growing bait and live feed doesn't take a lot of space. Hell, breed dogs if you have the stomach for it. Also honey:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ItlOFLTUAs >>9084Look into crops like guayule and jojoba. If you are on the Rio grande you could water them and potentially sell them for some extra cash.
