Well, our good friend SciManDan has just such an idea in mind
In two days he is going to Captain a worldwide experiment with his viewers, simultaneously recreating Eristosthenese's experiment from ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD.
The data is to be compiled (using social media) into a data sheet that by all indications will give the most precise model for the specific volume of the planet.
Oh, and as an added bonus, it will be YET MORE proof that the Earth is - whatever shape it IS - is not flat
