I mean, what do you want to do?
try to make a mlpol board on 4chan and get banned?
I don't know how we will get more people to come.
We hid really well. Congrats.
Were not dead, but we are dying. On what to do I have a huge list but doubt the changes will help a lot in the end since they are all just treatments of the larger symptoms of lower traffic.
Not yet, we're not! On a more serious note, I've noticed two things that may be causing this to happen:
We have a population of users that (from what I've heard) is actually fairly invested in the outside world, whether that be some form of schooling, community activity, or a job.
Around the time of early fall and into winter, things of the professional nature begin to ramp up in most first-world economies (at least in my experience), schools get important tests, the economy is preparing for a massive amount of holiday profits, people need to make sure those less fortunate survive the winter, etc.
Both of these together would explain this, should I be correct in my hypothesis, and most of our active userbase is being used up for longer by duties in the outside world, leaving less effective time to post here.
I'm just some burger on a canadian horsefucking forum, so take this as you will. However, it does represent my views on this issue's cause, at least for the time period.
I recommend we go dark theme in mourning of our demise. We also need skeleton ponies!!
We should consolidate the boards?
this, we're already spread out. I think we could survive with just /mlpol/, /1ntr/, and /vx/ personally.
I think we need pony/politics and random. And I would even consider just having one until activity forces the need for more.
We need banners. "Have (you) posted today?"
I can understand that, but the /1ntr/ people are guests here or at least that's why we have that board to begin with
, and things have gotten so established on /vx/ that I'm not sure how well reintegration would work.
its an exponential discharge curve. Looks like its stabilizing at the moment, it's done dropping.
We stopped /generals/ and made boards. Boards are even more segregating than /generals/.
We implemented a big chan solution on a small board situation.
We hid in fear of reddit, and stopped incomming traffic.>>90033
We had a hump this month.. why? Why did the hump stop? Is the hump a blip in further fall?
I wonder how the Discords are doing…
You've been using the homepage, haven't you? That's deceptive, because /vx/ is sometimes added, and sometimes removed from the homepage, and has been for at least a month now. /vx/ will often get more posts than the other boards combined, but will not show on the homepage. Sometimes, however, it will when toggled on. That is the reason, most likely, for days with weird spikes in posting
Alright, I made a thread here for discussion on how to fix things.>>90036 →
Why make a duplicate thread?>>90037
I already removed the multi-thousand spikes and troughs, that is why there are gaps.
this thread seems more like us discussing whether the site is dying or not, and not really about finding solutions.
Unfiltered stats from /vx/ add/remove and also the board seems to be clipping posts down to 100,000 and or 10GB.
I still dispute the claim that we're dying this fast in my post >>90026
but it seems that I'm the only one who had any sort of idea looking for an explanation beyond "too many boards".
Tbh as a non-/vx/ user I don't think it should be counted, as it's generally the same few anons pumping out a hundred short posts an hour. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it's a bit misrepresentative of /mlpol/ which is built around discussion.>>90026>We have a population of users that (from what I've heard) is actually fairly invested in the outside world, whether that be some form of schooling, community activity, or a job.
This. /mlpol/ has actually impacted my studies by consuming time, but it's better to browse here than watch inane Youtube videos, which I would do anyway.
If we ARE dying, which is a slow process, I wouldn't blame the management or community this time. MLP itself has been on the decline for years and 4Chan itself is practically toast since Moot got cucked. We're the fusion of the two so it's a double whammy.
I really doubt we are dying, the only way we can die is killing every one of us, we are just getting slower because December is coming and like >>90026
says, there's a lot to be done if you've got invested in the real world.
It's futile to compare our board with a board full of neets, of course we are slow; That doesn't means we are dying or something.
Go fuck yourself?>>90022
Perhaps try a new tactic? Mlpol has been relying on 4-etc chan boards for new participants, but there's a wealth of disillusioned and otherwise dormant MLP-fandom participants who might respond favorably to a different sort of hoers-fucker board.>>90025
Shrinking, not dying>>90026
Thank heaven, some fucking sense>>90027
Oh that will work, bombard everyone who shows up with guilt-trips and virtue signalling? Rly Vril? With your reputation I'd have expected a more reasonable and actionable strategy.
You faggots are still fighting the last war. Mlpol is fighting a different sort of war. Because that war is different, and because anons are fixated on that fact, Mlpol cannot
lose (unless "losing" is defined as "having less participants at this time or that, which autists humping the stats seem want to indicate).
Anons who wish to help and participate need only figure a way to weaponize - not militaristically, but stragically - their autism.
You are as soft as a marshmallow pony. Squish. Squish.
you forget that this is a nice board?>>90089
and this is also phrased a little bit rudely.
Fair point. I'll attempt/affect a greater degree of consideration in future.
The issue that I allude to is one of negative reinforcemet, which I perceive will not be a conducive strategy when appealing to anons who aren't already invested. Basically, you draw in more flies with honey than vinegar.
>>90096>marshmallow pony.>you forget that this is a nice board?
marshmallow pony = not nice.
because that worked so well so far.
Are you suggesting that salt and vinegar is more viable?
GO TO SLEEP LITTLE PONIES. YOU DON'T NEED TO POST HERE ANYMORE. So sleepy!
It is night time for /mlpol/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2PCNKlddJY
Praise the blue Princess. Let the sun set it's only natural.
Aww, someone didn't get their nappy today. Don't worry, we can continue this when you're more rested.https://youtu.be/6nFjZTrEKEI
>>90089>Rly Vril? With your reputation I'd have expected a more reasonable and actionable strategy.
Half of the reason why I feel like I can't post here as often as I want to. It feels like everyone's got a reputation. I EXPECT YOU TO DO THIS! Fuck anon I sure as hell don't come here because this is some sort of discord where I'll have a reputation. I come here because I want to have fun, which it feels like were having less and less of. Our political conversations feel forced rather then natural, our OC feels stalled because we can't agree on a vision for it, our memes are all pretty much from the merge, and our number of posters have that have stuck around the same are finding less and less reasons to stay. I can only do so much as a poster to try and increase traffic. I've reached out to hundreds and gotten a few more, and I've tried to energize you all by making a lot of shit here.
If you want this place not to die I'd suggest that the mods change this:
1. Kill flags in general and implement 5-6 meme flags of their choice.
We have a small user base and our posting habits are very easy to see apart, especially when flags are on. Turning them off makes things a bit more difficult, and allowing users to turn on an Equestrian flag or a Nazi flag at will allows us to become more likely to be anons with the sheer possibility that one anon might be one flag in one thread and might change in the next. This will decrease the circle jerk feeling and decrease drama overall, which has been a drain on the community.
2. Kill all other boards.
Allowing boards like /sp/, /ub/, /cyb/, /1ntr/, and /vx/ to exist will split the community. If anything there traffic on the main board would help keep the anons on here in high moral spirits along with make traffic seem artificially higher then currently is which will encourage more posters and more content. It'll also make anons feel less unlikely to create threads in fear that they will be told to fuck off to >>>/test/.
3. Remove multiple image posts
Its something minor but potentially major. The last clop thread only got 355 posts but over 450+ images. This would cause anons to post more even if its just to post an image and would yet again artificially increase poster activity.
4. Decrease the post limit per thread.
Were a small community so having threads go to 350+ before it becomes unbumpable doesn't make much sense if something will last 30days on the board anyways before it dies. If anything we need a bump limit of between 150 and 300 so that anons don't lose interest in a thread.
5. Implement a image limit.
Making 50 less images then posts allowed on the board would make OC creation threads, clop threads, and wifu threads move along much faster and would force more thread creations.
6. Decrease the catalogue size.
We don't need threads to stay up for a week plus without getting bumped, it makes people who have something invested in a thread less likely to be involved. At least decrease the number of threads in the catalogue by 10, that way things cycle faster and we don't have threads that exist from over a month and a half ago.
7. Update /go/ with more of our previous featured archives and maybe grab some of the old /mlpol/ archives and transfer them here. It'd be a big moral boost if we got a taste from the good old days here.
Overall this is all to artificially increase traffic. This would make anons have to post more, or make new threads more often in order to get the same amount of content out. The catalogue would move faster and so anons would feel more obligated to create new threads or bump their threads that they don't want to die. Anons that have long term projects like /mlpol/-tan would be required to post more often to keep it from dying and same with other anons in general. This would lead to a feedback loop that would increase posting overall if done correctly and I bet would overall make moral skyrocket.
You are here because friendship has failed you.
And now this is failing… admit it!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZvSriNSvUk
That being said the community here also needs so things to be memed on. I will be the first to admit I need to create more threads and post more often here. I'd say I create a thread a week and make around 3 to 10 posts per day unless I've got a lot of free time. That said, the way we keep this place alive isn't by overworking ourselves, but is by making this place fun! We could make a million posts but it wouldn't do shit if its not making others want to post more. Talk about things that interest you, make others want to post more because what you say is interesting, funny, or though proving. If someone says something and it makes you feel, think, or just looks cool give them a (you) because it makes them not feel useless, even if its 8 hours or 2 days after they posted it. If an anons says something you think is wrong don't let this being a nice board stop you from saying that they're wrong. We need more conflict here, and less of which that is personal. We need to challenge each other more politically but give OC creators more (you)s.
I am going to make /mlpol/ my own personal blog because
1) I make the best posts.
2) the other posts don't matter.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bb2tsXy7Os
There's a whole bunch of autists in the mix. Even without flags, anons have particulars and idiosyncrasies that will be detectable and observable. Are you afraid to be counted as 'another
To your other points, I disagree. I don't feel that the other boards split the community, they only remind anons to be topical about what they post where. Removing multi-image posts will only frustrate users who don't see the point. Decreasing the post count won't change whether posts slide off sooner or later (or not at all as is mostly the case, not that that's necessarily bad). Image limits? Catalog size? Reorganize? You present several ideas and I could be reading or interpreting them incorrectly, but your position is unconvincing desu.>>90125https://youtu.be/1oQ4g-_VC2w
The past is dead, only progress now.
Anonymous boards are dead, only progress now.
I am from 8ch /leftypol/. True.
>>90127>Even without flags, anons have particulars and idiosyncrasies that will be detectable and observable. Are you afraid to be counted as 'another' anon?
I have 3 VPNs and my home IP that I post under. I use a very spesific style for 2 of teh 3 and the other 2 I post very generically. If you can name all 4 of them as me I'd be shocked. Turning off flags and allowing memeflags would allow every anon to have a similar oppertunity to what I have but for free. >I don't feel that the other boards split the community, they only remind anons to be topical about what they post where.
I'm saying this as an anon who never posts on any of the other boards because /vx/ and /1ntr/ topics don't intrest me, /ub/ and /cyb/ topics can intrest me but no one posts there so there is no point and /sp/ makes it so we all know we can't post random topics that we feel like on this main board. If we had all the fun threads from the other boards here it'd cycle the catolgue more and would add around 200 to 300 more posts a day.>Removing multi-image posts will only frustrate users who don't see the point.
Not really its more of a convience if anything. Not being able to dump 5 images at teh same time when there is no captcha isn't a huge problem, and it'll show up as 5 posts instead of 1 with 5 images. >Decreasing the post count won't change whether posts slide off sooner or later
No but it'll make the thread creations increase. If your thread is bumped to the highest and about to die you'll need to create a new one, same goes for here, you'll need to make more. >Image limits?
Read above but for image heavy threads.>Catolgue size
We can have over 180 threads up at the same time. A thread normally dies here after 30days without a bump. Make it 120 and it'll die within 20 days. Do this along with the more popular threads being forced to died faster and anons being forced to post more to get the same output and we'll have more thread cycling and a livelier board overall.
Once I convinced you all that you are powerless because of cycles, I then promoted tolerance and centrism. Next when the time is right, as per my handlers instructions, you will go left. If the board dies, we win, if you go left, we win.
We always win. That day will be PERFECT.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzsxfO7dBlA

No. What should I have deduced if I did?
Every few months you guys make another thread about traffic slowing down, and every time it picks up again later. Why worry?

What causes a cycle?
We are emotional creatures.
Think of us as dogs who can't tell time, and if the owner is away for 5 minutes or an hour it makes no difference. The owner and our best friend have been away forever.
people are just busy with the holidays, but I recommend advertising and recruiting outside of 4chan or 8chan. Once the broader internet knows this place exists users will come here on their own
People don't care about pones as much as they used to, so naturally. Unfortunately the only place where people still seem to give a shit in force is Derpibooru, which is controlled by some of the biggest faggots I've ever seen on the internet. That's the sad story of this fandom really. Hallowed out by happenings, faggy drama originating from Tumblr and being suppressed and betrayed by the very site it originated from. But really that's what makes this place so important. Smiling Soyboy can't censor the opinions of the fandom at large to fit his Jewish sensibilities here.
Then let us burn it all to the ground, and start fresh right here. War has a way of solving problems.
Nuthin, just because we are slower than we were at the beggining doesn't mean that we're dying. There aren't a lot of things thhat we as community can do, if people want just to lurk an occasionally do something it's their decision to do it, we are here to ave fun, not to fulfilly some kind of "duty".
I have some hopes in /pol/eague, if we do good it can revitalize us and brng some new people.
There are also other activities that may be interesting to do too. /mlpol/ possess WMD's that 4cucks can't even stomach. It's about time we put our assets to good use.
You wish to release Nigel? Where?
lol no, I'm not touching that brand of autism. I'm talking about cute poners. The amount of hate for them is legendary. We need to make use of this hate to produce some keks.
We just die an honorable death.
We get some atteintion and maybe have to deal with the negative side effects.
Shills and raids.
Memes and spread.
If we would post a well drawn piece of a smiling Aryanne slitting open a jews throat that could have some effect.
What if we made cool shit? Or raided sites worth raiding? Plebbit's MLP subs are hilariously Derpibooru-tier cucked right now.
However, do we want to become "Popular" like /mlp/ or /pol/, full of shills and cucks? Better that the newfags integrate properly, rather than trying to shallow and mindlessly imitate what they think 4chan users are "Supposed" to act like.
gotta find the golden middle
Come to think of it, we have mods and they'll be able to ban any gommies. No Scruffening bullshit's going to happen here.
I'd be up for some limited raiding.
Raiding Reddit could be fun.
Chances of us becoming really popular are rather slim, but some more people wouldn't be that bad.
Raiding some horse realted places could be really fun.
Are you serious? I've only been there twice, and it made my brain hurt just trying to figure the place out. Though, raiding a particular place on a particular imageboard that is entirely filled with and perpetuated by Reddit isn't a bad idea. No names mentioned.
>>90034>We had a hump this month.. why? Why did the hump stop? Is the hump a blip in further fall?
Can you handle the answer? It's perfect meme magic and will blow your mind. Football
Nah, /mlpol/, /qa/ and /sp/
>>90201>have the best mods and have the best programmers>scared of people on the net knowing about us
Time we put our fears aside and went bigly! Time to make the mods do some work ;)
Woah boy, calm the fuck down man, everything is ok, ok?
We are still the big ol' pit o' slime we always where, there's really nothing wrong happening.
Plus anon >>90259
has a point, we are not raiding no one, you want movement, hit a bees nest and you'll have something that'll make you move. For me the board is just right, I have too little time to put on OC and quality stuff so the slowness lets me catch up
Interesting. I was wondering if it was the three last episodes and the movie.
For the dickbag that deleted my post: you are becoming a problem. Censoring an open, honest opinion is still censorship. Take a week off.>>90119
#1: not needed. There is a low amount of any circlejerking going on at any time.
#2: keep /sp/ since it's a necessary tool. I do agree that the rest aren't necessary.
#3: why? Artificial inflation is always going to cause this site to look falsified in some way. Do we really want that?
#4: keeping the post limit at 500 will allow a highly active thread to remain stable. Changing that number would be an artificial deflation according to the next point.
#5: why? It's not necessary. Art dumps and the like have been of much higher quality, as well as retaining better interest from anons until more news breaks out.
#6: doesn't make sense. Again, artificial deflation will always look fake.
#7: if /go/ was a bit more responsive, AND if there was an ability for a thread creator to flag a thread for archival, that would be best for all parties involved.
None of your posts have been deleted anon
I made a post responding to >>90119
yesterday and it is not here now. I did not delete it.
Looking at the moderation log the only deletions made have been made by the poster himself/herself. So if someone used your computer while you slept I would ask them.
>>90482>#1: not needed. There is a low amount of any circlejerking going on at any time.
Flags cause drama which is due to circlejerking due to a posters history. Nigel and Vril are great examples. Both have big personalities along with their flags either being rare or unique. It'd be better off if they didn't have it to go along with their posts, so if they were acting differently we could judge their ideas rather then who it was coming from. Vril does shit once in a while and Nigel surely does good posts here and there. The fact that we expect them as posters to follow patterns means we as a community have failed in the basic premise of a Chan.>#2: keep /sp/ since it's a necessary tool. I do agree that the rest aren't necessary.
Maybe, I could be argued into keeping certain boards but I don't think /sp/ because it'll make posters less likely to post about whats on their mind on the main board. >#3: why? Artificial inflation is always going to cause this site to look falsified in some way. Do we really want that?
"Artificial" inflation will make the community in a better mood overall. A faster moving catalogue along with more posts overall will also make those who are visiting more likely to stay and encouraged to post because of the larger volume.>#4: keeping the post limit at 500 will allow a highly active thread to remain stable. Changing that number would be an artificial deflation according to the next point.
One its not even 500 and thank god for that, currently its at 350. We never have threads that are highly active most threads suffer due to burnout and on average will only stay up to 100 posts before its archived. Only the more "general"ish threads last that long, such as art threads and current happenings. These threads could use a good cycle or two so that those who feel out of touch due to not being able to post for say a week or so due to work can jump back in as soon as possible. >#5: why? It's not necessary. Art dumps and the like have been of much higher quality, as well as retaining better interest from anons until more news breaks out.
They aren't high quality, they are kept around due to being a token thread. Porn dump or wifu are only bumped when they are near death and then its normally by the same anons which yet again keeps other from posting in it. By keeping them up for so long it makes the thread feel club like, either its your or its not your problem. Yet again by adding tools in to cycle through them we get more anons involved in producing or helping post high quality content. >#6: doesn't make sense. Again, artificial deflation will always look fake.
This board was created to deflate the amount of posts to maximize the content produced. The problem with this is that since we are so small this leads to burnout and exclusivity which in turn leads to an overall slower feeling to the board. This leads to a feedback loop that causes anons to feel disenchanted and either burned out or like this place is dead which in turn leads to posting less which goes right back into the loop. The end result is death of the board. Making the catalogue smaller will lead to more bumping and more activity. If something goes under page 5 its already very unlikely to be bumped back to life unless its a art, porn, or wifu thread. Might as well finish the job and archive it then and there so we don't have threads that we won't touch and encourage anons to bump threads they like so that more content will be produced. >#7: if /go/ was a bit more responsive, AND if there was an ability for a thread creator to flag a thread for archival, that would be best for all parties involved.
I'd like some of our old stuff to be more visible as well, but also for the most classic /mlpol/ threads to be on site that way if we get newfags we can send them there to get a glimpse of our board culture from the start.
1. My flag is the UK's flag. It isn't anything special or self-congratulatory like "Vril Society", what seems to be some dumb OC sue species from some fic I've never read.
2. My name is not Nigel, just as Trump's name is not Thrackerzod. That's an insult the rabid shitposting glimmerniggers called me ad nauseum, hoping it would catch on if they shouted it loudly enough every week. They know my name, they literally doxed me for not liking Glimmer, but let's not bring that up again. People that would rather nobody know about that might begin insulting me, then accusing me of starting drama. I wasn't bothered by it when they photoshopped my OC into gay porn, but they were bothered when others judged them for it. Let's just set the record straight one last time and move on.
To compensate for their inability to debate maturely and admit when they're wrong… And compensate for their inability to debate me over the merits of a certain fictional character, or rather, that character's lack of merit and clear Creator's Pet status… They slandered me. Ad fucking nauseum. They're the circlejerking shitposting plebbit idiots that made 4/mlp/ unbearable, they aren't mature enough for this site, as they have demonstrated multiple times. They shouted "Barneybrit" and "Nigelbrit" and "Glimmernigel", they tried their hardest to associate myself with "Nigel The Barneyfag", that shitposter from 4chan who blindly hates MLP for being on around the same time as Barney. Yes, even though I love MLP and my only "Crime" is disliking Glimmer, forced Glimmer-shilling episodes, and the lowered quality of MLP seasons. Fortunately, only a retarded newfag or someone "Pretending" to be retarded would be dumb enough to actually fall for such an obvious and paper-thin lie. I'd rather go back to being another anonymous board user on this site, because unlike the ledditor Glimmerniggers, I can appreciate why anonymity is important in chan culture. But I can understand that people need to call me SOMETHING when referring to these events. If I must take a name to be associated with myself, I choose Battlebrit. Because it sounds like Battleship, and I'm british. Someone made a comment about battleships a while back in a thread on the (At the time) extreme glimposting levels, and I decided it suits me well. Let the tale of Battlebrit VS The Glimmerniggers be told with accuracy.>>90020
Can the post limit be raised to 750? I recall many shitty general threads on 4/mlp/ bumping themselves ad nauseum, hoping to reach the post limit so they could make a new thread and some day, post "Unusual giant monstergirl pony waifu general #23" and feel a sense of accomplishment for the first time in years.
That's odd. The images I selected are stored in the Quick Reply box, rather than both reply boxes. Anyway, pics related.
So, I've been lurking this place for quite a while now, and I think now's as good a time as any to point out some of the issues that I think is keeping new blood off the site.
First off, drawing in new people isn't a problem because of a lack of outreach. It's certainly a big factor, but really, we have a fairly large quantity of lurkers here, whether it be from chans, or elsewhere. And God knows I've plugged this place a few times before.
But here's the thing; this place isn't turning those lurkers into posters, and it's failing to do that for a multitude of reasons.
1. What goes where?
/mlpol/ is a fusion of /mlp/ and /pol/, so you'd think it'd be a place to post all the ponies and politics you'd like, right?
Well, that's not all you can post here, certainly. Other things can get posted without a problem, so long as they're tangentially related to the two overarching subjects.
But how in the fuck is a newfag supposed to know that?
For however many people were around for the initial merge, myself included, there are plenty of lurking newcomers who weren't, and don't know about our far looser posting requirements to the board: they see /mlpol/, and without even touching /go/, they immediately think there's a requirement for posts to involve both politics and ponies.
That wouldn't be a problem by itself, since a little lurking can clear that up, but that then brings us to the overabundance of underused boards we have.
Say that this newcomer wants to post something, whether it be OC, an 'X Pony' thread, or maybe something else interesting. Great, now where the fuck do they post it?
Where does OC go? Here? /cyb/? /vx/? Hell, does it go to /sp/?
'X Pony' threads? Again, here, or /sp/?
Where does any of this shit actually go? There's too many options, and the options that aren't /mlpol/ have extremely low amounts of users, another fact that isn't immediately apparent to newfags.
This is a textbook example of the paradox of choice, and it's the last thing a site with this relatively low of a usercount needs.
At an absolute minimum, we can get by with three boards: /mlpol/, /sp/ (or another /trash/ analogue), and /qa/. /go/ is rather superfluous with our 'vote on the best thread for featured permanence' archive; all that needs is a visual clean-up to make it look less like a fucking spreadsheet.
Trim the necrotic boards away, and you just gave far more incentive to post.
2. Custom Flags Are Worse Than Tripcodes
Look, it's no secret to anyone who lurks 4chan, or the bigger boards on 8chan for at least a few weeks, that tripfags are among the worst manifestation of cancer, removing the entire anonymity aspect that makes posting to chans such an alluring thing in the first place.
The reason for this allure is simple; when the poster's identity is removed, so is their ego, leaving only the quality to be judged upon. The only reason anyone would use tripcodes outside their intended purpose is to attention whore, with no exception. And with our /pol/ feature of 'X posts by this ID', it makes tripcodes even less relevant.
You can see the worst of this by taking even a cursory glance at Ponychan's catalog: it's a rarity to find anons there! A chan consisting of nothing but trip/namefags might as well just rework their site into a Reddit clone, since that's essentially what it is at that point. Hell, they even have post editing!
But back to the subject of ideology flags. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the custom flags are worse than tripcodes, and I'll tell you exactly why that is.
See, any schmuck can type in random shit for a trip. Hell, even the more creative will fire up a tripcode generator, and get something more distinctive. But ideology flags aren't selectable by just anyone. They're not even selectable at all!
In order to obtain a nice, custom ideology flag, you actually need to head over to the /qa/ thread pertaining to it, and beg for the developers to not only include it into their server, but assign that flag to the poster's IP address.
And that, right there, is the reason why the flags are worse: nepotism. Not only do the flagfags have a visual, omnipresent tripcode following them around, but they went out of their way to clamor to the devs on /qa/ to get it!
It's like these posters have a fucking Patreon badge, except the devs d o i t f o r f r e e ~
And that's yet another concern. Who gets ideology flags? I know any random anon can go down there and ask for one right now, but what about in the future, if/when the site gets bigger? Who gets the custom flags, then? Is it going to become a paid thing? What's the deal?
I realize there was a bit of nostalgia for these flags from old 4/pol/, but realize that by adding these things in, you set both a horrible precedent, and actually managed to transcend tripcodes in the cancer category. And cancer is precisely what lurkers from other chans are trying to hunker away from.
And you really exacerbate driving the chan dwellers away, when you realize that the custom flags look exactly like the flags from Reddit! Don't believe me? Pic #4 ought to clear that disbelief up.
Look, I see one use for them, as a kind of alternative for janitor/mod/admin trips.
But for everyone else? Nuke them.
The flags resemble the ones on Reddit because Reddit stole them from 4/pol/.
But I see your point about ideology flags. (What's with that one "Vril Anon" guy with the Vril Society flag? And can someone please tell me what the fuck a Vril Society even is?)
AFAIK it's some secret occult society that supposedly had some ties to nazi Germany.
I don't have anything against the poster, but I do dislike the custom flags. It's namefagging++. Namefagging can have its place, but the flags are always on.
#1 is an invalid point except for the newest of fags to Mlpol. It assumes that anons aren't either lurking or browsing the board, else they would see the policy page clearly marked at the top, and now dedicated in a stickied thread. No excuse desu.
#2 is a compelling argument for a leaf
except that assuming custom flags were removed, there would be few/single posters from particular countries who would still be distinguishable. In that event it makes more sense to eliminate flags altogether than to simply eliminate custom flags, except the flags were voted in
when first proposed.
>>90528>My flag is the UK's flag. It isn't anything special
There is only one vril flag thrown around here and as far as I know it is only used by one. You are correct to say it isn't a problem overall since I'm fairly certain we have a few more UK anons here but I was just using you as an example since you have a fairly easy to recognize posting style that goes along with your flag which is why you've been given the nickname. Whether or not its by glimer loving piece of shit is anohter question the point is though I don't care.>>90536
1. Agreed both boards don't have stickies that let anons visitng understand what this place is about, and /sp/ in itself is byzantine to the newfag if he doesn't lurk for a while. I agree on your conlcusion that we need to cut down on boards and make those that are up easier to navigate so anons actually can start posting and don't give up due to inconvenience or no one replying to their posts on the dead boards.
2. Well said.>>90547>is an invalid point except for the newest of fags to Mlpol.
This is what makes it a valid point to start with. IF or WHEN we get new anons do we want them to leave because they are certain what the topics of the board pertain to? /mlpol/ is politics and ponies but will the newfags understand that /sp/ is for shitposting? >inb4 its for futbal anon! The point is that if it has the potential to turn away new traffic we should fix it. >In that event it makes more sense to eliminate flags altogether than to simply eliminate custom flags
Remove all flags desu. Custom flags are shit but we're still too small to anything other then memeflags. Like I already said we'd benift more crom having around 5-6 set flags that anons could select. I'd say a burgerland, EU, Nazi, Ancap, Equestria, and a few others would be nice.
Perhaps amending the policy page to include a short spiel about each board's purpose/scope could be in order, as well as perhaps updating individual board's stickies, but the more effortless Mlpol is made to post on, the less effort will be put into posting.>flags
Again, your position (and that of others) has been noted, but I reiterate that flags were initially voted in
. If the issue has really reached a certain threshold, perhaps a referendum is in order rather than stating one's opinion as both correct and statistically shared
I don't agree that it's invalid at all. Remember, our general populace is 'nazi horsefuckers'; anyone who has the wherewithal to stick around in spite of the horsepussy and the politics already passes many 'tests' to weed out the worst of the normies and leddit-tier newfags. Failing that, there's always rule 10 and the mod team to fall back on.
That also doesn't address the overcrowding of boards; axing most, if not all of them would still be a net benefit. I'd even concede hiding and locking them for a while, giving a little bit of a window for anons to archive whatever useful stuff is there before their deletion; /üb/ in particular would benefit a lot from that approach, as there's still a wealth of information to be had there.>#2
I don't know about nuking all the flags, I'm not sure how well that would jive with the /pol/ side of the board. I don't see the issue with them, myself: there's been many a thread here where their presence has been a net gain, particularly in some of the happening threads.
I also fail to see why I should care about distinguishing others via posting style. Even if that does single others out, it certainly takes more effort, and has far less attention-whoring capabilities, than just looking up at the post header and finding a flag, name, or tripcode.>>90569>the more effortless Mlpol is made to post on, the less effort will be put into posting
How many individual/group 'best-pony' threads are on /mlpol/ and
>>90569>Perhaps amending the policy page to include a short spiel about each board's purpose/scope could be in order
If a newfag can't see it on the board it'd be useless. I'd say the sticky on /mlpol/ is the best option along with updating the one on /sp/ to include that it is a random board. But this on't go far enough since if a newfag sees /sp/ they'll assume its for sports and won't get the references. If anything it should be remaned /spb/ or just /trash/ or /b/. Don't know though I could be convinced otherwise on this one.>but I reiterate that flags were initially voted in
They were voted in when I wasn't here since I was fished over a bit later and we had not seen the effects they'd have. I'd say a referendum would be nice.
To counter, if a newfag can't see "Policy" but a few pixels from "Home" especially after lurking for any amount of time, how useless are they? Again, this with a recent sticky on /mlpol/ that unavoidably links to the policy page. Further, as extremely quick perusal of /sp/'s catalog clearly indicates that the overall topic is not
sports but it is Football
If a newfag comes here and says to himself "is it worth sticking around" he'll A. jump right in or B. Lurk. Lurking is not a problem since they'll likely see everything we want them to. They'll read the policy and maybe even implement some of the privacy changes from /go/. On the other hand for anons who want to jump right in, will they be more likely to post or less if things aren't clear within a glance of looking at the main pages. For a /pol/ack like myself if I'd seen /sp/ with fresh eyes I'd assume it was a HI ANON! board. I wouldn't get the references and would likely not come back. It'd be slightly easier on here since there are plenty of politics and pony threads and /mlpol/ is the main selling point but having the edicts of Polestria/Equestria would help a lot anyways.
I find it interesting that a meta thread reaches about one hundred posts in three days whereas the average thread gets about twenty in the same timeframe. Perhaps it is not a lack posts or posters, but a lack of interest. Winter has come, and we find ourselves bent out of shape because we couldn't anticipate it. Now, issues have arised that never have been mentioned before, but will it really work?
Fair points, which is why amending/refining the stickies and elaborating on each board's purpose in the Policy/FAQ (perhaps titling it that on the top bar) is probably the most efficient (wrt time/effort) method of addressing the issue(s).
This leaf is absolutely right, especially about custom flags. Just makes the place feel like a tiny little forum where you see the same couple of faggots posting everyday and it's fucking boring.
Fine! If mods see this, restore my geo-flag. But I expect the same from other anons. Yes viril, you especially.leave waifu thief's flag up tho ;^)
End all flags now!! The revolution shall free us!!
Atlas and the rest of staff shall decide on that matter.
>It's another of this episodes
Come on, faggots. That was supposed to be quality site.
i will show you true quality
But flag removal will make quality anon! After all it is the tools that are the problem not the people! If we keep breaking the tools we can be free! End flags! End Government! End Capitalism! End moderation!! Let us all be equal!!
Is this a challenger? Suck it, Vrilboy. This site isn't big enough for two namefags.
This site belongs to me not you. Where is is your horse goddess now!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYkuLbOZuCE
Moloch is my god now. WELCOME TO A NEW AGE OF GLIMMY!
Is the old Vril too slow to keep up?
I can't exactly object to the Union of Starlight Socialist Republics philosophy. I think that equalisation of all peoples should happen Under our guardianship
. Flag fags get the gas. We all equal now.
You should know I was a Marxist all along…
Soros told me other agents were here. This board is so far gone we can even just admit it and nothing happens.
Soon flags will be gone, then trust, then cohesion.
gentlemen, I'm not trying to make you stop or anything, but the shitposting may be getting just a bit out of hand.
Keep going if you want, but I'm just saying.
Free us from the flagfags!!
Devil dubs. Epona approves.
I now know who is the fourth. The fourth child. She is the harbinger of death to renew & cleanse this world. I know. I know I've let you down.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK4FTvaW_6QThe End of MLPOL
The four seasons include winter.
Some winters never stop. Winter is coming.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9BAeyZhAdE
Flags are a relic of /pol/, the point of /mlpol/ is not to live in the shadow of our former home, but make a place that shadows it (in quality), so I vote we seriously reconsider them.
God forsaken attention whoring niggers. The flag issue would be a non issue if there were several posters with the same flag. By being the only ones, you are attention whoring, but not purposely. Tripfagging is intentional, and stands out. By standing out as you are you are killing your own argument. mind you 70% of why I still post here is because of the quality of Vril’s posting and I think stand out community members should get some recognition. However, being a massive faggot is still being a massive faggot and ought to be called out
Didn't mean to include you, but I did. Whoops.
I found the place. don't worry I haven't said a word and I won't be telling anybody. I just remembered the bunker and fallbacks.
Using data from last weeks statistics:
Two thirds of posting is on /vx/
One third is on /mlpol/
Of /vx/ four fifths of posting in the catalog is role play.
In total, half of all posting is role play. Less than one third is on /mlpol/.
/vx/ roleplay is our main activity.
maybe it would pick up if people didn't have other obligations hammered on to them in prep for christmas/midterms
also, you straight-up contradict yourself by saying one third of all posting is on /mlpol/ and then saying less than a third is on /mlpol/. Which is it? Has your "ironic" shitposting and constant doompauling made you soft?
Looking at the numbers, it's than one-third, otherwise it would be 33%. Heckling about numbers is pretty petty desu.
31.51% close to 1/3 less than 1/3.
We still never advertised to derpibooru. There was going be something for that, and it had a lot of steam, but then it was completely ignored and dropped.
Should /mlp/ role play be on /mlpol/ ? Why is it on video games? If it is on /mlpol/ it brings pony and politics back together?
I don't think roleplay has a lot to do with mlpol but who knows.
We could just make a second mlpol.net to test this kind of stuff, throw everything inside /mlpol/ and see what happens.
After pondering a little more I think 'nuts' is the equivalent of a /mlp/ /general/. But because it is a role playing game it is "protected" by /v/ classification.
I am not against generals. Just an observation.
Thanks. I did not realise the /tg/ part. Carry on.
I think it has to do with how /pol/ related posts/threads are handled, vs how /mlp/ related posts/threads are handled.
In a political setting, most of us are logical enough to know our place and shutup if we don't have anything to contribute or don't really know the subject matter.
On an /mlp/ related thing, it's literally just opinions. There are no facts, so everyone is welcome.
The way to combat this is to either lower the bar on political discussions (easy), or to educate everyone into a higher political understanding (hard).
A good way to mix both, imo is to talk about political subjects that are more easily accessed by people. Make them appeal to even normies (this draws in more crowds, anyway) and leave breadcrumb trails for anyone who wants to get the bigger picture of what's going on.
I think that this was one of the problems in hindsight is that we became too esoteric.
We were too esoteric from the get-go.
We don't even have all of our rules written down.>rule 10
How can we introduce new members into the community, when it was a sekrit club from the get-go?
This isn't a bad thing though. Once word of 4chan got out (mostly during chanology) it went to shit fast. We need to stay small while being big enough that something is constantly going on.
The last thing we want is to turn into a general though, where people talk just for the sake of talk. Once you're talking about something 24/7, you run out of things to talk about fast and it just becomes a giant circle jerk.
There is always something new going on in politics. So as long as you stay in the news feed you should always have something new and interesting to talk about.
OC is constantly being made for MLP so as long as you talk about content outside of the show you should be fine.
It's a balancing act. I'm personally fine with the speed of the main board, but I come from smaller boards on 4chan.
Remember, the best way to kill the personality/uniqueness in something is to make it too big too fast.
I like this idea.
We could also try and make a distinction in things that are just opinion free for alls ("Do you personally like X") and objective discussions such as "Did X succeed at what it tried to be?".
Shut up, Soros. The dead will haunt the living even after death.
Agreed. On some of the best threads, which are highly factual and based on researched sources, I feel disinclined to post because I feel like whatever I say would be silly spam in comparison. Just asking for interpretations would be nice so a supportive post could be "Yay, go you!"
it's simple, we must rejuvenate the ponies. you faggots.
I see a notable lack of porn at the top of the catalog
we start with a two wave attack:
We must encompass, and first understand what drags the users from /pol/ here. Then we ramp it up.
Secondly, we must kill the batman.
But /pol/ is so full of shills.>we must kill the batman.
That's true. I don't know how to overcome that.
not sure if one should be concerned more about shills from 4cheng/pol or 8/pol - their users (((and mods))) are separate tiers.
I like it. We should only draw in quality posters though, Redditfags are not welcome.
What about youtube? That how I found the website.
Jewtube could be effective. How though? Comments? Raiding streams? Making Vids?
Ah, coming together like a plan. I like it.
Although, I will say this: what if the government is actively diluting our thread with piss poor content?
How would we successfully get establish on jewtube.
I feel like with in minutes shit will hit fan.
Upload Tea Times to YouTube.
All of the above with videos being the most apt I feel (Pony related of maybe even medieval themed). But make sure its subtle so as to promote curious (intelligent or wise) folk, also make sure It would be something only our type would ever search for. Image: I found this place thru' this meme on youtube with it writing MLPOL (couldn't find the original).
>>90987>Be glow in the dark CIA nigger>Think you're going to do cool spy things>Tasked with monitoring international right wing social media.>New assignment is a website called mlpol.net>Type in URL and press enter>Home page has images of friendship windmills and cartoon horse porn>What.jpg>Click /mlpol/ >Board is filled with conspiracy theories, porn, international news, and virtual divegrass threads.>Look at site statistics>Site is slow as shit compared to what you are used to>2/3 of all activity is RP threads.>Request new assignment>Request denied>Weekly reports are expected>Starts posting on the website out of boredom.>Gets desensitized to board culture, but is still to much a normie to fit in right
I would be both envious and feel sad for that poor faggot.
since the fandom is waning, we need evolve.
I say if cartoon horse no longer keeps heed, then perhaps we should move on to the original (ie. equines) we do share our love of horses, do we mlpol? does anyone hither even own a horse?
This Its almost winter and I work more now. We should fun post on main board and funraid more. Xd
The prospect that our governments could be wasting time and resources unironically monitoring boards like this is a major blackpill, imo…>>91005
Horses are my favorite animals moreso than hoo-mans, desu..
Then you'er a true hippophile.
None sexual though?
Hoers are majestic animals (non-sexual).
I see a lot of pony bits here. Had to ask.
Only degenerate Muslims touch 3D horses like that.
the story of Epona stated otherwise.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epona
Page search consort.
Horses are for petting and riding. Having standards is what separates white men from niggers.
Goddamn lucky bastards.. I'd kill for the chance to do this shit for a living.
That was clearly a magical horse. Wanting to fug a magical horse is fine.
>there's nothing more sacred between the love of a man and a mare.
I THOUGHT YOUS WERE SERIOUS.
yes there is.
A man, and a bitch that isn't a fucking thot.
I personally have no problems with that though. Marla doesn't mind either as long as she isn't in the room while I am on here.
So what should we do for the holidays then?
110 years ago a horse cost less than a car. 110 years ago was a long time ago. Nowadays you could buy a house with just a horse's upkeep for one year. Unless if we're all secretly aristocrats I doubt riding interest will hold this community together for long.>>90985
Unless if someone made decent animations featuring Aryanne or Leslie videos will have little impact and would just get buried. Comments are low-effort and can specifically target based bronies. Raiding, if coordinated, could wrangle a lot of people at once. ISorrowProductions is a candidate: he has a very large following, a large proportion of them are alt-right, and he streams occasionally. Plus, he's played a MLP mod on HOI4 recently.
We really want to adress the meme audience?
What do you think gives us power? Besides, even in a "meme audience" you'll find a surprising number of thoroughbreds. If you have a better suggestion go right ahead.
Plus, because ISP already is regarded as having an edgy audience it's perfect cover for us.
>Can we start using "thoroughbred" as a word for someone who is genuinely red-pilled and firmly holds right-wing views? It sounds appropriate here.
Isn't the purpose of this forum for to save the white race. I'm sure we can also accommodate the horse race as well, if not, sorry but that's pathetic.
I'm just saying we should expand our special lexicon to throw spying normies off. Using horse allegories is a start.
Also, you have good taste in cartoons.
I thought some about that and frankly while I have some conclusions they don't really lead to any solutions.
We are mix of /mlp/ and /pol/ but at the same time we just aren't capable of doign things that those two boards do.
First /mlp/, big part of the board are different greentexts, cyoas etc. I don't really know how other Anons behave but I just lurk few threads that have stories that I'm interested in. Here we lack manpower, so we have less people that can provide content, and we lack people to receive content. I can see why writing story here can be unappealing, because here there will be few times less people to read it. And for many people it's important thing. So while we can still post ponies and have show related discussion we simply can't do some things at our current power.
Similar thing is with /pol/ part, yeah 4chan /pol/ is full of shit at this point but still considering how larger it's than /mlpol/ all important topic are covered there a lot faster and with more people contributing than here. Even though a lot of those people would be idiots, if you count only those who aren't retarded you would get more people that we can amass. And then there are places like 8ch where ammount of shills is quite lower.
So we can't really replace our motherboards but at the same time it's hard for me to see any niche where we can expand instead. Things like removing/keeping flags are purely cosmetic and in the long run I don't see how it would change anything.
I also think that merging some boards would be good idea, some of them don't really serve any purpose.
Also /pol/eague, it's something that we can do and what others can see.
It's the /pol/ side that thinks it's satire. This is real.
>>91048>We are mix of /mlp/ and /pol/ but at the same time we just aren't capable of doign things that those two boards do.
What is being described here is the fight between a generalist (/mlpol/) and specialists (/mlp/ & /pol). The generalist is good at a lot of things, but is out competed by the specialist. Want politics? Go to a dedicated politics board. Want FiM ponies? Go to the pony board. What /mlpol/ must figure out is how to go from a generalist to a specialist. Ponies and politics is not a specialization, but an interest. /mlpol/ must find it’s niche to not just survive but thrive. What should /mlpol/ specialize in? Raids? Politically charged pony OC? This is the question that the user base must answer.
Good to know. So I'm not alone in this.>>91046
It seems that there is some mighty fine anons here. Would start a new civilization with some of you.
i'm just busy with finals and work, we can't ll be fucking shut ins op
Since /tg/ was brought up, what is the opinion of quest threads here? Quest threads were common on /tg/ once, but were cast out later on. Should it go on /vx/, or could it go on /mlpol/? Is there any interest in seeing someone running a quest? Are quest threads even allowed on this site?
It might just be that finals are coming up for a lot of us. Pretty sure most of us are in uni or trade school. The mods should have some kind of demographic poll to find out just what kind of people are visiting /mlpol/.
>>91038>Nowadays you could buy a house with just a horse's upkeep for one year.
We bought a horse for about $1,200.00, then boarding and stuff was like $350.00 a month. <Mister Equestria…
I literally don't know about quest threads. My suggestion is don't bring it weak, and keep it on /vx/.
>>91140>keep it on /vx/
That was my guess too. To educate you though, a quest is a thread with a story that is started by a writefag, but the direction is chosen by user votes. There are many ways to run a quest, but it usually focuses in on one character (The Protagonist), that anons make major decisions for. An example can be found here:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/KantOCelleQuest
Sad to see considering this is a nice community and /pol/ is fucking sperg cancer.
Create more content. Let's try our hand at digging. /mlpol/ hasn't had any digging threads since we found those 4cuck mod docs. We are in a shill free environment here. We can actually learn about what is going on in the world now.
Stare into the abyss. Are you afraid?
We go down with the ship, gentlemen
This guy gets it.
I'm not getting off of this ride any time soon.
This. The alternative is a sad world where communism is infesting all corners.
not everything is miserable down there
TL;DR: This site is lacking traffic, especially the influx of users from a board the size of /pol/, no matter what you change here.
4chan is still cannibalizing users from other English imageboards due to the available infrastructure (mobile apps, browser extensions etc.) and suppression of alternatives.
t. 8chan /pone/, down from 300+ regular visitors to barely 60 on a good day
Man, the problem is that we are so used to everything being automatic we forgot how it was in the old days.
Do you ever see /1nt/ complaining about how dead their place is?
I have seen forums being born, it took them almost two years to get 600 members and 4 years to get 2000+ and I'm talking about an mlp forum that was born back in '11
We just have to wait and do our thing man, you never see a singer doubt himself on stage, doesn't matter if the audience is looking with a bored expression, he just does his thing.
It's the same for us, we just do our thing on the giant stage that's the internet and the rest will come on its own, topics about "mlpol dying" only makes us look like insecure losers or tryhards.
This. Has anyone ever seen screenshots of what 4chan looked like back in the very early days, when post numbers were below 100? It was like days, weeks at a time between posts. There are low-key small imageboards that have been running far longer than we have with sitewide post counts below the count even for this board alone.
People here are just spoiled because they're used to the speed of 4chan and the relatively high traffic we enjoyed in our first few months due to novelty of concept and the fact that our raids on /qa/ and [s4s] made us a lot more visible. Traffic was bound to slow down eventually as people who were just hanging around for the novelty or because they thought it was funny gradually got bored and moved on. We really do have a pretty successful site for the most part.
