The clown in DC have once again failed to do their only job and have shut down the government, over something about illegals getting free healthcare.
How long do you think this one will this one last? What are the political implications? Will the Democrats fold and vote to end the shut down?

I actually think it will last a while. The democrats will want to push this to Christmas so they can say Trump is the Grinch. There is nothing right now that is a festivity they can make people suffer through and then blame Trump for the suffering.
The wildcard is if the cuts starts to hurt the democrat controlled government operations and they get backlash internally.

So long as they keep voting again reopening the government, the public will know they're at fault.
The shutdown hurts Democrat constituents much more than it hurts Republicans. Government workers and welfare recipients are much more likely to be Democrats. The pressure on democrats will be immense.
>wildcard is if the cuts starts to hurt the democrat controlled government operations and they get backlash internally
Trump just used the shutdown as a precursor to fire 150k government workers moments ago, and has promised to fire more. The shutdown gives him special authority to cut government spending, and he's not afraid to use it.

I don't see a future where this turns out good for Democrats.

Well... The truth hasn't stopped the democrats from trying to spin things before. And they got a select number of networks that will gladly repeat their narrative.

But I agree that it will be hard for them to lay the blame on Trump. Especially with them voting down the "Lets just keep the gov funded for 4 weeks while we talk things out".

Also because this exact same budget bill was passed in March, and under the Biden regime. They have voted for this before; there's no reason not to vote for it now.

I know, finally.
hopefully the magic money rivers will slow down a bit. Silver is already up to $46/ounce, just a few months ago it was 30. maybe people are finally starting to notice.
The next big thing will probably be the car industry finally imploding, hopefully topped off with the everything bubble exploding.

They stop all "non essential services".
The government needs a budget to stay open, and since they could not agree on a budget the government is closed.

This is absurd and has a very straight forward solution. Bring the Cuban hospitals to American, they will operate for less than 1/10th of the cost. No premiums, no bullshit. Free Market baby.

It spends money no matter what. You still pay taxes for the entire month it was shut down, except with no services in return. Every day it was shut down wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Not even. All that money has to be retroactively paid. The furloughed bureaucrats are about to get a 40 day paycheck for sitting on their asses. The only thing more wasteful than an open government is a shutdown government.

Whatever the case, a massive amount of your tax money was wasted this past month, all just do that Democrats could look tough before the off-year elections last Tuesday. It's fucking bullshit.

What is it with redditfags believing in the exact inverse of the political reality? What they type is only true if you swap the two sides in question. It's like witnessing a burglar robbing a house and turning to me saying it's the homeowner who was robbing the burglar. It's truly fascinating and horrifying.

>What was the point.
The point was "standing up to the orange man". And then when that didn't work after a week they doubled down to avoid backlash from their base; and then after another week they tripled down because sunk cost intensified the backlash they would face.
>What is it with redditfags believing in the exact inverse of the political reality?
You might have noticed by now that reddit is a circle jerk, where dissenting opinions are outright banned (not just shouted away). These people live in their own reality bubble.
>It's like witnessing a burglar robbing a house and turning to me saying it's the homeowner who was robbing the burglar.
Burglars sue homeowners for injuries sustained during burglary all the time. These people are similar in their lack of shame, sense of entitlement, and refusal to take accountability for their actions.

These aren't even really concessions. They weren't part of the debate or conditions for reopening. It's just rider bullshit that weasels slipped in at the last minute because they could.
