A co-worker of mine sent an email to our team notifying us that she came down with severe flu-like symptoms the other day. She consulted with her doctor and went to one of the local testing centers to be tested for the corona-virus. The testing center tested her for flu and strep throat, and both tests came back negative. They then refused to test her for corona-virus since "she's not a high-risk individual."

This is Northern Alabama in the Huntsville area, and she's in her mid-20's. I last saw her this past Friday since my employer couldn't get their shit together to approve teleworking sooner.

It sure is, and sorry for this semi off topic rant post by me. Anecdotally Norway stopped testing people a long time ago (unless deemed necessary by medical staff). Socialist healthcare only works if there is simple things like broken leg or other clear cut medical problem where there is a readily available cure. Experimental or really expensive cures are not provided because they are not "socio-economically profitable".
If you have a unknown illness that it is hard to detect socialist healthcare is shit. If nothing is found in bloodtests the road to figuring it out what can be very long. If you have to take a test at a specialist you will not be sent to several at once, to quickly figure out what the problem is, you will be sent to the most likely first. Then you have to wait at least 3+ months for an appointment, then wait for results (however long that takes). And if the test is negative (you have to call your doctor and ask if they have gotten any results in yet because doctors don't call their patients to say what the test results were if they are negative) you will need to ask if there is anything else that could be the cause and if you are lucky you get sent to a new specialist and a new waiting list. Usually they just take a new bloodsample and you have to wait for that result first.

Japan has not got it under control at all. They can be slower than other countries because their emegency infrastructure is different and they care less about people dying.
They have the best ratio of hospital beds to population in the world. They have all sorts of emergency staff trained and ready for earthquakes and tsunamis (dealing with mass deaths). Plus at least twice a year there is an big emergency somewhere in Japan.
A lot of the shut downs in other countries is just to slow the influx to hospitals and Japan does not have to be overly concerned about that until the big numbers come in.

Even the amount of police to populatioin is high and as crime rate is low (at least statistically) there are plenty of lazy fact cunts who can used when required.

The media like to compare different country responses to this but the reality is that infrastructure and culture disctate response. The rise in cases in Japan is about two weeks behind the UK and the UK are about two weeks behind Italy.

Having said all that I still think Japan might have given China the virus and that could mean more Japanese are already imune. This would give a lower curve that other countries and would make it easier for the people in power not to do a full shut down.

The clinic of that hospital for years has been a war zone with people waiting to be attended for 4 or more hours. The ambulances today bringing sick people are less than ever because almost nobody got hurt because of the quarantine, the faggots on the street waiting to be attended are perhaps 90% because of TV induced panic. It's almost sure the it's a hoax.
And the most important thing, the hospitals work not for the public health, but for the money. The more people they can intern, the more money the government will pony up, keep that detail always in mind.

I can try to give small update from Norway. It is little news happening here. Grocery shops are open and stocked, so no shortages anymore due to hording (not that I go too often to the shop). The number of infected and hospitalized is steady and slowly increasing. Not sure how reliable the infected count is because it is not like there is any mass testing going on, rather the opposite. All schools and restaurants/bars are closed along with other public places.

The stats are not for every country but it is worth looking at the graphs for Italy compared to South Korea as they have completely different profiles. Hard to think it is the same virus although obviously there is no test yet to say if anyone has had it in the past. The city crematorium near me has the tiny capacity of two bodies a day. If the Chinese had started mass burning they would have also had to build up the infrastructure. 80 years ago the Germans struggled to do it on scale as well.

Actually you can "vaporize" human bones, but that would require the use of something like a blast furnace (What's used to smelting metals) that reaches upwards of several thousand degrees (Which is unnecessary most of the time since the melting point of the most common metals used never reach that temperature, which is just a few hundred degrees above the temperature that crematoriums furnaces reach).

From the reports I have had in the UK the A&E was also empty which indicated to me that most people who go to hospital rarely need to and shutting down the country and shown just have much time and money is wasted normally by spurious visits to hospital.

I also know that multiple deaths with covid-19 tested paitients have happened in a UK hospital and that the ICU is stocked full with both norms and covid. you can buy a cpap machine for around $200. you would think pneumonia prevention measures could help too. deep breathing, lung clearance and not lying down for too long. alternating between being seated and lying in bed. guaifenesin to thin secretions and tylenol for pain. ensure protein max and possibly a BRAT diet for stomach problems related to coronachan.
I've read albuterol is OTC in the EU (it isn't here) and that could be helpful too because it's a bronchodilator.

I'm not a doctor but if hospitals are overloaded and it's potentially dying or giving yourself the best chance with self treatment, it's better to be prepared. absolutely none of that stuff is dangerous if used correctly.

I looked up Legionnaire's disease and that may be what I caught in January. The day before I had been wearing my gas mask on a particularly humid day while exerting myself much more than usual, so there was a heavy build up of moisture inside the mask. I figured it was Coronachan because I had an imperfect seal (wanted to wear glasses and I figured sponges would block air flow) but the symptoms match up with Legionnaire's. Unfortunately it wasn't quite as glamorous as the Iron Legion.

It makes sense to me. Most people are putting off going to the hospital out of self-preservation. Who wants to sit in a waiting room full of infectious people? Could be that the triage system is faster-paced too to keep possibly-infectious people from clogging up public areas.
