According to sources, the convoy consists of nineteen trucks from the Red Crescent humanitarian assistance organization.

The convoy is stated to have brought with it some 6,700 food parcels, three thousand items of winter clothing for children, flour bags, hygiene kits, water battles, kitchen kits, basic vaccines and medical supplies.

Arriving sometime on the night of Sunday to Monday, the humanitarian aid was delivered into the rebel-held Rastan region through the Dar al-Kabiraa crossing point.

The development comes as Syrian government and Russian diplomatic mediators are once again in negotiations with local opposition authorities for the reestablishment of a general reconciliation regime for the Rastan region.

According to reports from military-affiliated sources, elite Syrian troops of the Tiger Forces Division have seized the all the farmland areas around the key militant-controlled town of Al-Muhammadiyah in the southern part of the East Ghouta pocket – the stronghold itself is now apparently being entered into amid heavy clashes.

Despite some reports that Ar-Rayhan has been seized by government troops, the reality stands that the Syrian Army is not yet in full control of the town. Nonetheless, Al-Masdar News journalist Ibrahim Joudeh believes that the rebel stronghold may very well fall to the Tiger Forces before the day is out.

Finally, there exists reports of a huge advance in the Harasta district, although specifics on gains made have not yet been released.

Ten of civilians have already started crossing to government-held areas in order back to return to their hometowns in eastern Idlib.

The Trump Administration is considering new attacks against the Syrian Government in response to reports of chemical weapons’ use, the US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) said on Tuesday.

Arab diplomatic sources in Cairo revealed that the so-called ‘deal of the century’ on the Palestinian-Israeli question is the most prominent matter on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman agenda.

Palestinian sources confirm their absolute rejection of the so-called ‘deal’ diplomatic sources suggested that the steps implemented on the ground may be stronger than is apparent.

The leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Maher Al-Taher, called on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and all Arab leaders to “stand by the Palestinian people and support their struggle.”

In an interview with Quds Press, Al-Taher said that “all Palestinian people reject ‘the deal of the century’ because it seeks to destroy the Palestinian cause.”

Al-Taher went on to say, “no power can pressure us. The Palestinian people will stick to their rights and principles. They will demand that Jerusalem remains the eternal capital of Palestine. They will stick to the right of return and to an independent and sovereign Palestinian state. Therefore, any pressure exerted by Arab or Western countries will not succeed.”

He continued, “The Palestinian cause cannot be sold or bought. This is a matter of the national rights of a nation that has struggled for a century. Therefore, these people cannot sell their blood.”

However, in an interview with Quds Press, the former Egyptian political science professor Abdullah Al-Ashaal expressed, “concerns that the practical steps that are being taken on the ground might be more influential than the Palestinian rejectionist political positions.”

Al-Ashaal went on, “Saudi Arabia and Egypt are adopting the same Israeli policy, in terms of changing the reality on the ground to impose the fait accompli.”

He added, “There are steps on the ground led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the Sinai, which will be the greater Gaza.”

Al-Ashaal predicted that, “President Donald Trump, who is expected to visit Jerusalem and Cairo in May, will announce the leadership of the great Israeli state and the implementation of the deal of the century.”

He continued, “There is also heavy pressure on Hamas and the Gaza Strip to prepare itself for the next stage. Added to that, Israel is accelerating efforts on the ground to expand settlements in the West Bank that it wants to include in a ‘greater Israeli state’. These are the steps on the ground. This is the new Middle East project, which was being promoted since the 1990s.”

The Tiger Forces Division is – as one of the most aggressive and successful formations in the Syrian Army – currently spearheading the government’s ‘Damascus Steel’ operation in East Ghouta.

The elite formation, generally speaking, has always led major Syrian Army offensives (and even major defensive operations at times) since it came into existence several years ago.

Every operation ever carried out by the Tiger Forces Division has been different to the last, the formation is also quite flexible with the weapon systems it uses, with some units possessing old T-55 battle tanks and technicals and other units employing latest general T-90 battle tanks, BMP infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery and Shilkas.

The Syrian rebel group Jaish al-Islam said on Friday it had agreed to evacuate Nusra Front fighters being held in its prisons in besieged eastern Ghouta to rebel-held Idlib province.

Syrian state television then showed footage it said was of 13 fighters and their families beginning to leave the besieged enclave on the outskirts of Damascus.

“After our meeting today with the delegation which entered Ghouta accompanying the aid convoy, an agreement was reached to evacuate the first batch of (Nusra Front) members present in the prisons of Jaish al-Islam who had been detained during security operation that Jaish al-Islam began on 28 April, 2017,” read the statement from the group’s leadership, dated Friday.

Mohammad Alloush, the political chief of Jaish al-Islam, told pan-Arab television channel al-Arabiya al-Hadath on Friday that the number of Nusra fighters in eastern Ghouta does not exceed “a few hundred”.
