My main gripe with G5 was that it was constant noise. There was no rest, no time to breath. Every small scene that allowed for a bit of thought was immediately shattered by one of the main character's lol-so-randum quips accompanied by an upbeat music hit. The camera zooms around all over to flash every character's expression and get their commentary whenever a new thing is presented. In G4 Pinkie Pie is always breaking the tension and bouncing around nonchalant, but she usually knows when to shut up and when she forgets to, one of her friends tells her to. In G5 every character - not just the main cast - is on this Pinkieclone type quest to constantly be the one talking and making crazy comments and flaunting their particular Flanderized quirk. And for what? Pony Reddit upvotes.

My second main gripe is that In G5 there's no adversarial behavior between anyone besides [mass of ponies] and [current villain]. In G4 and before, there were ponies who could be neighbors their entire lives but still just not like each other. The competition between family farms in G4 was handled with violence while feuds in G5 boil down to "Which family's horse instagram can get the most likes". The princess of friendship herself could obstruct traffic in Manehattan and no fewer than 3 fat greasy stallions would tell her to get bent.

My third middle gripe is aids spike and the character design in general. Someone mentioned in chat that his design was butchered when really he should have been like that dragon who smoked out Ponyville, Ember's father, or better yet like how he appeared when he actually did get old and huge due to the power of greed. I looked at his G5 version and his friends more (with the volume muted because they're voiced by NIGGERS) and figured that they're like that because the studio didn't want to rig a whole new skeleton and train animators on clawed omnipedal movement. So to save money they just remeshed a pony. For all its faults, diversity in G4 and before was tangible not just between species but between different walks of ponies too. The true sin of G5's design is that these mares aren't sexy. Izzy is cute on paper but it seems the genetic pool of Equestria has been muddied since the Two Sisters left power and as a result the mares of today all have a stallion's skeleton, while the stallions all act and style themselves like mares. They are ambiguous in their physicality and all have their own equally mundane personality traits. 80% of them speak in this kinda ghaspy voice as if they're constantly out of breath which makes sense given they never fuck the shut up.

Gripe 4 out of 5 is how everything is sprinkled with a little spice of niggotry. The music all had deep bass lines and that little hi-hat tick. The fashion was all glitter and gold - not for the ponys who liked that but for ALL ponies because they're ALL the same and ALL like that sort of thing. Every pony had their Obamaphones and were all on social media. There was no culture shock when the modern main character ponies visited the uncontacted tribe of glitter aurora ponies because those distant and unfamiliar characters were bouncing to the same big booty black woman beats as the city ponies. With G4 everyone across America could see themselves in one or more Equestrian groups. There was representation because such representation was fun and reflected the varied geography and history of Equestia. It made for a lot of adventure and character dynamics. In G5 they're all the same no matter what or where they are. Again, a result of poor breeding habits brought about by being ruled by some nerd who would give Equestrian soil to griffons if they demanded they need it for the sake of friendship or something.

The final gripe is that there was no maturity or lessons in the episodes. For a kids' show it fails to perform its basic duty of making kids walk away from the TV smarter or kinder than they were when they sat down. As a grown ass man with no kids this shouldn't be a big deal, but in the grand scheme of civilization, shows like G5 don't contribute to the intellectual growth of the generation who is supposed to pay my pension and wipe my elder ass when I grow old. I want my PSA to have a Rainbow Dash rape whistle, not a Misty Brightdawn tattoo.

The bonus gripe is that merchandise of G5 has replaced G4 stuff at the mall.

The changing of the seasons brings gladness and some amount of introspection. Weather patterns form and break, but those who practice a community and a culture build something that helps resist the winds and storms that would otherwise blow a person away. Let's watch some Pony videos to beat back the darkness, eh?

We've been graced with several comic dubs, PMVs, and other animations this week. A hoof-full of songs were taken from Eastquestria, released within the last few months, and we've got some within-the-week releases from a Hay Tea / Tw3lv3 track, Full Speech, courtesy of Ponies at Dawn. Hay Tea also has a solo song from just under two weeks ago titled “Create” that we'll hear towards the end of the first chunk of the night.

AgrolChannel has a Wonderbolt Training animation from this week, “Fluttershy Escapism” has recently appeared on the Deleted Pony Videos channel, Magpiepony's got a new pony animation, and several creators including Halo12 have released a twenty-two minute video titled “No, I'm not a Pony”. It looks to be horror themed, and will be our Pony Feature of the evening.

Tonight's Farscape episode follows the Talyn crew as a grieving Aeryn take a bit of time to process things.

Hi, everyone!

Tonight, we have some news of what might be G6, another handful of songs from Eastquestria, several recent songs from a variety of other artists, including pipetka, SpinScissor, PrinceWhateverer and MelodyBrony.

ScooterTrix gives us another G1 short, we have animations from people like RonarWah (with art from WeLost), another Scribbler Comic dub, an older animation from BrutalWeather ("Metal Grear Friendship"), and several non-pony shorts. The shorts include something about food, some skits, Mr Bean in Hogwarts, and a Warhammer 40k motivational speech after Farscape.

I'm not sure what to expect from this week's disaster on Farscape. It looks like they're going to meet some other fugitives. Maybe they'll be trustworthy, or maybe things will all go wrong. Goodness knows they have enough problems as it is. We're with the Moya crew this week, so the gut punch of the other Crichton's death hasn't hit for them yet.

There's some redistricting thing happening in the US, some voting for a new UK party that seems like it's actually intending to deport, Communist Cuba seems to be having a tough time, and several other signs of the direction of the wider world culture conflict point in a good direction.

Let's celebrate that by watching Pony stuff.

Scribbler adapts another one with this week's comic dub of “One Special Pie” by Coltsteelstallion over on DeviantArt. Way to go for that side of the content production and value-adding additional adaptation work. Crooked._.Beeties made “The CMC Will NOT Get Their Cutie Marks in Fire Safety” earlier this week. It sounds like a flammably good time. I am not above cheap puns. Wuten adapts another comic, “Helping Twilight”, by NobbyDraws just last week. To go with these recently made videos, I brought in a compilation of Wuten's comic dubs of Soutingisfun's “The Mane Six's Moms Have It Goin' On”. It's a good fifteen minutes long. Fanon also adds a short adapting a post-Cupcakes comic by SinfulPie. This one's more of a drama than a comedy.
Aside from the comics, we get another handful of GrazySmash songs from last week, some from an artist called Zizkil, Ainer, BGM, and more.

Remember how they made that deal to work at Scorpius' lab to make sure the Peacekeepers get the tech before the Scaraans do? This is the first of a two parter. The writing from one episode to the next continues to impress me. Not long ago, meeting with Scorpius was a fate worse than death for John. Now he's doing it willingly, and has all the reason to believe that Scorpius is being good faith.
How the turns have tabled. It's the first of a two-parter, too.
Now that I read the description, I guess they're just there to make sure no-one can learn about it. Too much of a destructive hazard, I guess.

So to add some clarification on that, we've had our local elections (Which are like mid-terms I think?), but only 146 councils out of 382 decided to have a local election. This election is basically choosing who takes your bins out and whether your gran goes into a bin or a pit, and influence local policy. Given the recent shit in Birmingham, bins have been a hot topic as of late.

This week's another round of the usual: Comic dubs, a couple of animations, shorts, skits and pony music, followed by Farscape.
Scribbler, Wuten, and Cherrylemondrop97 have a hand in a number of comic dubs this week. Alex MLP has two animations, voiced by AI to make new material. One of them is G4, the other is EQG.
As our Pony-related capstone, 4everfreebrony and Canto Acrylic make up the last two artists of the pony section of the lineup, right after Wuten.
Non-pony content are skits, the making of a glass pen, a clip from Canadian Parliament in the style of an Oblivion questline, and a short excerpt from a 40k book.

Tonight's Farscape episode is the second part of the crew trying to make sure that Scorpius and the Peace Keepers don't get the wormhole technology. The Peace Keeper command wants to try to sign a truce or a treaty, but the Scarrans want war, or Scorpius thinks so, at least.
Of some minor note is that the description of the plot this episode spells the character's name as “Chrichton”, while the show description in the same description section spells it “Crichton”. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with trouble spelling the name.

Have the episodes of Standalone Complex been seen? Yes Ghost in the Shell is mainstream, so a portion of the viewers will have the dialog and twists memorized, but it was good.

Other than a few mainstream things I don't know much about anime. But I loved the two unrelated Vampire Hunter D movies.
Has anyone brought up the ponification of the play based on Counte of Monte Cristo? Not sure if that could be shoehorned into this format or not.

GrazySmash released a few songs earlier today, I presume they're the last few songs of the Nocturnal album he released in the same time batch. RavenFlight, and Blackened Blue both released songs earlier today. Ethan's MLP Fan Music gives 2 orchestral songs, one from earlier today. Jyc Row, replacer, mouseu, Scootertrix, and Cosmonot pony all released something a day ago.

The non-pony minor feature is “The Real Baelin's Route”, “Baelin on a good day”, a thirteen minute short movie about Baelin from Baelin's Route. It's by Viva La Dirt League, and was released last week.

As for Farscape, last episode shook things up a lot. Talyn blew up to take out Scorpius' command carrier. Crays went down with the ship. Scorpius left. The group's hurting.

It's music and its the first song in a series. Each vid can range from 2-5 min long most seem to be around 3-4. Basically, some guy on Deviant art drew a bunch of images of Carrot Top and Derpy getting involved in an adventure. The images tells a story, like comic without dialogue.
This composer youtuber that also made a a series of national anthems for each species in Equetria back in the day, also made song series for this silent comic, back in the day. So, this song is like the theme for the first image, and then he makes a song for the next and so on.
Flappy usually has a big portion of his stream for music so maybe this series of song coud fill that. Like, a clip of something and then pop in the next song in this series. Maybe that's annoying micromanage tho, idk. But the whole series could be a potential idea to listen, maybe.

There's a goose video that I'm trying to find, of a goose facing everything on earth and coming out on top, but I have yet to find it again. ^^

Also, I may as well make this announcement in it's own post. Due to the schedule of a new job I'm starting, I will no longer be available to stream movies on Friday nights. I tried to get put on a different shift, but unfortunately it just wasn't possible. So, next week (6/12) is going to be the last Friday I can do this stream.

As far as the overall fate of Movie Night goes, we have a few options. The first and simplest option would just be to move the stream to a different night. From the week of 6/14 onward, I will have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off, and any of those evenings would work fine for me. The second option would be to have someone else take the reins and run the stream in my place.

Anyway, let me know what you guys feel like doing.

It was a long application process and it's a great job apart from the schedule, otherwise I'd be tempted.

Through delegation of council it was unanimously decided that the new stream schedule would have a start time of around 18:00 EST, and run well in to Tuesday morning, or even in to the afternoon. The stream will henceforth feature a dedicated slot for documentaries and public service videos outlining the natural beauty and military strength of Canada. There has yet to be, and likely will not be, any opposition to this reshaping of stream night. Those who operate the streams should ensure that they keep this timeframe free from any work, family, or medical distractions.

It's that time again for the last-ish time in this particular time slot, so let's run through what's on the menu. We've got a few songs recorded by Lemmon, a reanimated episode of G%'s Tell Your Tale, and a couple of comic dubs.
The flagship item of the night is an animation by Unimaginable Consequences titled “Derpy Befriend a Totally normal Earth Pony”.
For non-pony content, we have a couple of shorts, a cover of Smash Mouth's “All Star” played on a melon as an ocarina-like instrument. That's by the channel “Pupsi”, and more. Episode 2 of that AI Minecraft silent film by LatentDiffusion is here. Hi everyone! I'm putting the playlist together.

Along with the change in date from Fridays to Mondays, we're also trying out an earlier time for the evening to start.

I intend to get things started properly in about thirty-five minutes from this post.

The first Monday Movie Night of our sessions, and we have a harvest of a lot of fresh content in it.
We'll start the evening off with a video of banquo0 doing a search on Google Play and reporting what he found, followed by music. Most of our music is from within the last two weeks, though I'd like to particularly highlight Harmony Bop's new song from just 5 days ago. “SEXIEST HORSE ALIVE (Original Song)”. I've liked their earlier sings, so I have high hopes for this.
In animation news, ForgaLorga graces us with a three and a half minute animation from 2 days ago titled “Random is Magic”. Minty Root has also released an animated teaser for Pandemonium, his next animation. I'm going to keep this in the rotation every now and then until that animation releases.

Tonight's Farscape episode is the followup from last week, when our crew went to regroup with their members who are at that archaeological dig site. The one with the ghosts begging the living to never use the something-or-other that was so significant in that area. It's got something to do with wormhole-like technology and a civilization known for maintaining peace despite living on the borders of other warlike civilizations. Last we saw, Peacekeepers marched in and took a lot of people prisoner. Crichton is being interrogated by the ranking new Peacekeeper character, too horny to stop her from getting information.
Scorpius isn't looking too good these days, and is being treated badly after being brainfucked in the aurora chair. It freaks Crichton out, it's so messed up. I heard in the interviews that they went further in recordings that didn't make the final cut.
