Does Boeing make ANYTHING that works anymore?

What are the political implications of systemic incompetence in the private and public sector compromising sophisticated research and engineering projects?

This whole thing is a shitshow. Boeing and SpaceX both got contracts at the same time to build capsules. Boeing got twice as much money to build theirs. SpaceX's Crew Dragon has flown twice a year since 2020, including one time with an all-amateur crew. Starliner failed to dock at the ISS in 2019 and they're still struggling to complete a manned flight. This flight that's screwing up now was delayed several times over the last two years. They finally get it together and now the crew is stuck on the ISS.
Boeing needs an African American CEO, like SpaceX.

Usually, if posts are off-topic, that discussion can be moved to the relevant thread. However, if something is claim to happen in space and your standpoint is that space, as we know it, doesn't exist; then you're not off-topic.

It's the same for the OP of the humor thread, you can't make fun of flat-earthers and then not expect them to not reply. This is a very organic discussion.

If I remember correctly. NASA's current main goal is to send a nigger and a woman to the moon. Like, specifically send a nigger and a woman for "empowerment" reasons.

That doesn't really have anything to do with Boeing. Boeing of course is fucking up with DEI hires too though.

He's simultaneously implying that space isn't real, while also hoping that the astronauts perish in the space that he says isn't real. Idk how he expects anyone to take him seriously.
Regardless, this thread isn't about space, it's about Boeing's abysmal quality control and how it's contributing to the competency crisis in serious industries.

Why is Boeing even allowed to exist at this point? They're irredeemable fuck-ups.

As long as what Boeing is making for their military contracts holds up, they'll be able to shit out busted commercial and consumer products with no real impact to their stability as a company.

> Now, in an interview with the New York Times, Boeing Starliner program manager Mark Nappi says he's not surprised that the spacecraft is stuck up there — and says he regrets not managing expectations up front.
> "I think we all knew that it was going to go longer than that," he said. "We didn’t spend a lot of time talking about how much longer, but I think it’s my regret that we didn’t just say ‘We’re going to stay up there until we get everything done that we want to go do.'"

Boeing is done as a space company. Nopony will take Boeing's space program seriously anymore, they just got embarrassed by Musk and SpaceX

The sound of the cheeky poltergeist responsible for mucking with Starliner's computers is now banging its head against the intermimensional walls of the craft after learning that it's going to be stuck in space forever

As if it wasn't creepy enough there's now some hum interfering in the computer's speaker for whatever reason, and the fact they don't know is more worrying.

Which makes me want to transmit this thing at 145.990 in the direction of the ISS
