>Russia to Mobilize 300,000 (!) for Ukraine, Steps Taken to Make Another 250,000 Deployable
>The mobilized will have the status of contract soldiers (meaning they are deployable to Ukraine).
>Contract soldiers and the newly mobilized are retained for active service indefinitely — until partial mobilization is rescinded or they are otherwise dismissed — regardless of how much time they had left on their contract (stop loss).
>Ostensibly the 250,000 conscripts serving their mandatory national service will not be sent to “the area of SMO”, but yesterday’s announcement of referendums in Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, and Kherson on joining Russia opens the path for precisely that. When these areas are proclaimed Russian soil conscripts can be deployed there without the procedural need to declare a state of war.

>Azov Fighters For Pro-Kremlin Oligarch? Biggest Prisoner Swap Of War Has Outraged Some In Russia
>It was a major swap involving the freeing of 215 high-profile Ukrainian prisoners of war, notably leading Azov militants and even an Azov battalion commander and his deputy, for 55 Russian troops. But importantly, crucial to the deal was the return of Kremlin-ally and wealthy businessman Viktor Medvedchuk, who had been arrested by Ukrainian authorities in the opening months of the invasion on charges of treason. Medvedchuk had long been seen as Vladimir Putin's closest ally in Ukraine, and the two are said to be personal friends.
>But the deal has sparked outrage in some political and media circles in Russia, given that - as The Intercept and much of the mainstream media previously recognized - Azov regiment is a Ukrainian neo-Nazi military group, and is especially hated in Russia, also having not long ago been formally designated a terrorist organization. On the list of those freed from Russian detention also appear to be a handful of foreign fighters from the US and UK.

>Finland Shuts Borders With Russia As Military Age Men Flee
>Finland on Friday announced that it is blocking all land border crossings with Russia at a moment thousands of young military age men are seeking to exit the country on fears of being drafted for war and sent to the front lines in Ukraine.
>The Finnish government said it will "significantly restrict" the number of Russian "tourists" allowed to cross in the coming days, also describing fears that too many Russians flooding in would cause "serious damage to Finland's international position."

I disagree. I suspect anything can be a false flag, but this doesn't look like one. All of these gay mistakes point to a severe underestimation of the resistance.
If this failure were planned, they could have done it in a way that wasn't so expensive, humiliating, and internally destabilizing to its own powers at hand. Putin put his cards on the table and lost because he thought the Ukrainians would just surrender like the Crimeans did.

It's not about Ukraine's capabilities, it was about the resistance itself. The Russians clearly thought that the Ukrainians wouldn't fight back, so they just rolled in there like they owned the place. They relied far too heavily on roads, which made them vulnerable to being assraped by blitzkrieg javelins at every half mile. They didn't even bring enough fuel at the beginning because they didn't think they'd have to do any actual fighting.
Even when they got to Kiev they hesitated because they didn't think they'd actually have to fight there. In addition to being sniveling cowards who didn't want to invade such a large city, they didn't want to shell a huge city that held such a non-insignificant number of ethnic Russians, and for that hesitancy they lost their opportunity.
Because they thought the war would be over in one week, they didn't factor international response into the equation. After the first month Ukraine got what was basically an unlimited supply of weapons from the west, overtaking Israel as the largest receiver of foreign aid.
They fucked up royally because they thought the Ukrainians would be so scared of them that they'd instantly surrender, and when that didn't work they just blindly stumbled around like the stupid Slavs they are. They thought nothing had changed since 2014, but they royally fucked up.
>>352783
>how many top brass have been demoted? No court martial? Not even one shot?
That'll come after this is all over. Right now, the government is on damage control and doesn't want to acknowledge what a massive fuck-up this has been.
It was just as big of an intelligence failure as it was a military failure, because Putin's advisors are all impotent yesmen who only tell him what he wants to hear, which is why he did this invasion in the first place. They're going to have their asses caved in at the end of this shitshow.

It's basically Russia's Vietnam/Afghanistan of this century. Large military power thinks it can win as a result of having better toys, and doesn't consider the thought that the locals would actually fight back or that they'd have to plan for long-term conflict.
