Well people voice their annoyance at how slow the site is compared to 4chins but I've grown to like that about the site. I'm not lagging far behind mainstream sites in terms of news or content, but I'm not flooded with too much shit to catch up on anything important. So I think this site has a very healthy middle ground. Unless you literally do nothing but browse one website, in which case I'm sure you would hate the site's speed, especially if you're such a pathetic beta that you can't even find a job

Not really on par with family guy. There are a lot of interviews where the writer has gone on record talking about his methods, and he actually uses a surprising amount of restraint. If it were family guy-tier, there would be more laughtracks and fart jokes. The characters are also arguably more interesting caricatures of themselves, and they play off of each other well in that sense. Applejack is pretty much the closest thing Twilight has to a friend because she can understand the joys of getting piss-drunk to cope with stress. Rarity is a fashion-obsessed cunt, but MAS actually makes her interesting instead of just playing off of her glamour all the time. She still likes nice things, but she has an air of elitism and greed that comes with that. Her interactions with Twilight are usually driven by kissing her ass when she wants something from her, or Twilight kissing her ass because she wants something from Rarity. Rainbow Dash is a dysfunctional retard, but unlike the show proper which pretends that she's just autistic; (a disgrace to autists everywhere) MAS plays up her retardedness and shows how she actively fucks up the lives of those around her just by existing. I'll go a bit more into depth on Fluttershy because I think she deserves it, especially since she gets a lot of shit. Later in the show proper, Fluttershy stops being shy and becomes more assertive. The show tries to pretend that this is an arc, but it isn't. You can't just remove something that's part of someone's identity and call it character development. In MAS, she's cripplingly socially awkward. It's implied that the animals she takes care of take care of her as much as she does them, just in the form of keeping her from being much worse off. Pinkie Pie in the show proper does essentially act the part of a paranoid schizophrenic with reality bending properties, MAS just treats it like it is.
Anyways, that's why I like the adaptation better. I've always been a bit of a fan of the fans, inb4 reeing and I think that the characters in MAS were handled better in the long-term than the show did. Do I prefer the MAS caricatures to the S1 portrayal of the M6? Well, no... with the exception of Rarity. She's always been awful.
So there you go, an explanation of my opinions nobody asked for with a topic that only slightly pertains to the thread; half a month late to boot.

I think of it more as her being more reserved than shy after the whole assertive spiel. Shy doesn't have to imply you're scared or uncomfortable. It's just a lot more comfortable to be less noticeable. Part of the reason I like her is because of that blurred line between shy and not shy that she has.
