The georgia 6th District just had it's first round. The runoff in Lousianna (2nd?) earlier this year was the second round of a two part election. The California Senatorial election on November 8th between two Democrats was the second round of a two round election. They call a "jungle primary system." I think the idea is to have a global primary, rather than necessarily have each party do a primary. I think it helps when there are multiple parties and candidates, and you want to have a winner-take-all first-past-the-post election system, but require the winner to take a majority of the vote.

I think in real terms the English language is the best for full understanding of what a person want to say. It is a very strait forward obvious language compared to others. Japanese is a complete nightmare not only because the meaning of a sentence can change to the complete opposite right at the end but also because everything said is unclear. Even being asked if I need a plastic bag at the supermarket is dependant on how a sentence is structured. English is prominent around the world because of its lack of ambiguity.
