In this thread we discuss ways to install a transitional government for a group of atolls.
The islands are themselves at risk of being lost through mismanagement of funds, and also inundation from rising sea levels.

My idea is that we set up a nonprofit charity with the goals of performing major economic reforms. To have such plans well detailed and thought through that the peoples of Tuvalu vote us in.
From there we'll be able to mold the islands into what we desire. An economic power house with a political landscape of our favor.
As for the politics. I couldn't really care if we go Natsoc or full blown commie. I'm in this to simply take over a nation via the internet.

So far I have a basic mission statement together.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SGE7f38FKGUXpMgICwbdlTlIIJcPO_sk82pI_Ktrzcw

There's a lot of work we'll need to do for this. I can't do it all by myself.
Any and all input is welcome. Even neigh saying, as it give us a chance to find flaws with the overall plain and correct them.

Probably not. This will be a major propaganda effort that will get a lot of heat. Most of it will fall on my head as I'll have to register in my name.
As for other actors, I'm not expecting Anons to step up to prominent roles such as perspective ministers and such. Those roles can be easily filled with third party's that find sympathy with the cause. Typical eco warriors and the like.
What I really need is help with documentation, planning and shilling.
As detailed here.

Looks like they have a healthy demographic by age, as there is no big pensioner payout to baby-boomers down the line.
But one thing that will be important is to establish what the underwater territorial borders are if they are not set already (hard to find data on it). This will determine where underwater mines and all can be established.
A few Debbie downers before I get into some positives. The Fish farming has to be done very carefully. The amount of waste from a fish farm is enormous. So putting a fish farm at an atolls might wreck that atoll completely if there is not enough sea-current to take the waste out into the deeps, and bring fresh water into the farms. But it is doable, but can have big adverse effects.
But on to a positive, that would be dependent on other governments and non-profits stepping in. Trying to make all of Tuvalu into an nature preserve (with some high class and expensive tourism) with the understanding that because one can't do any industry one would need the support of other nations. But it would be the world first 100% green country. Milk that leftist money for all it is worth.
But on the other hand a population shy of 11,000 it should not be too big of an task to handle. There might be some need to centralize populations to make it more efficient and be able to provide good services for all. But if one made two or three towns it would be more than manageable. Also if we did as other industrial towns have done before with success, that in addition to taxation on the raw materials to be able to conduct mining or other they have to build facilities to benefit the local population.

I see what you mean with the fish farms. I hope to get professional help with that and many of these projects. To do so we'll have to have the charity up and running. There's always plan B of more traditional fish farms should the atolls be off limit.
But I am mainly going for the atoll option as it's a headline grabber. Something revolutionary. Basically my approach to this is an shock and awe campaign. We need the peoples on our side to pull this off. And I don't think a casual stance with minor policy reforms will get their attention.
Voting on Tuvalu is heavily family based rather than policy because of how small the populace is. Thus has lead to the mishandling of the country.

>But on to a positive, that would be dependent on other governments and non-profits stepping in. Trying to make all of Tuvalu into an nature preserve

What do you mean? I didn't think with what I've outlined that this could count as a nature preservation effort. As there's going to be large scale terminating relative to land mass. As well as meddling with the atolls.
I'm more than happy to swing that way. I was hoping to use a tactic of asking for large final aid grants from other nations. As a "hey gib us $X this one last time and we'll invest it wisely, that way you don't need to hear from us again".

>What do you mean?
The nature preserve road, would exclude the possibility to establish deep sea mining and other heavy industry. It would basically make the country into a UN protectorate of some sort. So it is not the most fun road and would probably entail the least amount of freedom. So I guess if there is raw materials that are profitable to mine for I think and option where mining companies come in and pay a flat tax on what they mine in addition to requiring them to build facilities to improve the local communities is the best way to go. One could perhaps in addition set aside some of the islands to become nature preserves and limit tourism to 100 a year and make it costly as hell to visit those islands. But in return those who can afford it will have the island for themselves for a time.

>Oh and the deep sea mining isn't very eco friendly.

True, it is probably less environmentally friendly than fish farming or oil rigs. But as long as there is regulations on how it is conducted it can be done in a semi-friendly way.

I dug a little.
Seems like there are quite a lot of NGOS on tuvalu, in charge of the shitty education system and a lot of other basic stuff.
Tuvalu economy is also a mess, fishing is the pillar of the economy, it has to import everything from other countries and only in 2015 it was proposed to explore underwater mines in association with the EU.
So..
Tuvalu is a black hole, it will suck all your money with little to no reward.
I advice against trying to take over that country, you have better luck starting an independent movement on a farm or something.

There's one island I know of that's basically uninhabited. We could easily turn that into a preserve. However any funding that comes from it would by contract only be used for aforementioned island. So it'd kind of a zero sum game there. Unless we can swing it that if that funding is to be used for the mainlands, that it's for reason of the continued preservation of the island. I.E. Using funding to build high rise apartments as to not use the protected island for housing. It's an arsehole thing to write into a contract. But not unheard of I don't think.

>>143198
What sort of threat would any of these other NGO's propose? As far as I'm aware the worse that can happen is they try to counter shill us. Then we can just highlight all their own failings.
>Tuvalu is a black hole, it will suck all your money with little to no reward.
I don't really think that to be the case. It's not in massive debt, or enslaved by another nation with obligations. They're really independent aside from foreign aid. And it's good to know they're going the mining route as that's a major pillar of my overall economic reforms. We'll fuck off the EU of course. The only reason they're involved is because the government is poorly trained to deal with legal work/taking the path of least resistance.

Now I know there's going to be massive start up costs for all of this. But if you've read through my mission statement I've got most of it covered. And we'll be really hounding the lefty buck once the charity is started.
The only obstacle I'm seeing is the paperwork we'd have to come up with. But I'm confidant the people in /mlpol/ are up to the task. Even if it's sub-par work. I'll be able to go over it all myself. Really I'm just in a writers block at the moment. I just need skeleton files to build upon.

That might be a small hurdle. But it should not be that hard to make the case for turning the entire economy of the islands into a single economy. All "taxes" goes to the state and then is distributed according to needs.
But if that is impossible, one way around it would perhaps be to have the tour company located and registered on the main island. And then take a fee to be granted access to the island. This fee will be used to improve all of the islands, and would limit the number of tourists that can afford visiting the "untouched nature". But not sure how the economy is set up at the moment. But how to arrange it so the income will be to that island would be hard. It would probably be easier to argue for single economy.
I hope I have misunderstood, but if all income from any given island is only to be used in that island. This will force all the islands into trying to provide the cheapest tourism possible to get any tourism at all. It is the free market but it is an do or die type of free market. If your island get no income you are fucked. Only way to get out of that spiral and be able to fully commit to provide only exclusive expensive tourism that is more profitable is to share the benefits from it across the islands.

Ngo's are owned by third parties as means of controlling third world countries, some multinationals might have interest over that tiny country for some reason they do not publicly state.

They are not in debt, but the country cannot stand on it's own, the educational system as well as healthcare is in charge of NGO's and the government has by far not enough money to sustain itself, as i said, the economy is shit, as soon as you pull off the EU, you go back to stone age.

I really advice you to not try to take over that country, there are better ways to get power, that place will probably be bought by samsung or general electrics just like the republic of Congo was.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant monies coming from international aid specifically for the island preserve would have a contractual obligation that said money would only be use for the continued preservation of the island. Not from internal tourism bucks.
The reason I bring that up, as I'd like to milk international aid for all it's worth in order to get the economic projects off the ground. Having money coming in to safe guard an island from development isn't going to help out Tuvalu if that money can't be spent elsewhere.

So we'd have to make it so that in the contracts, that money donated in trust of protecting that island from development may be used on the other islands for the purpose of not encroaching on the protected island. I.E high density housing/buisness. I'm really drawing a blank on what other purposes we could clause it for. But that's a chat for another day.

The islands are one economy as far as I'm aware. Not that if they were fractured it would matter. As once we get in power, we'd just change the legislation.
However we'd have to be wary of international aid contracts trying to say what any revenue gained from the preserve island can be used for.
And no, you didn't sound like a leftist. You made a very precise, clear and rational point.

>>143209
I'm willing to take those risks. I wouldn't be surprised if child prostitution is their interest. I forget, but the law is pretty loose on Tuvalu.

A way to go I think is to get a bit more generic contract. You could stipulate all you want to do, cleanup, conservation, flood protection, water treatment, and in there also add the establishment of a nature preserve at one of the islands. This way it would be a part of a bigger plan to transform and protect the islands. You would then have much more room to spread the aid money. Also you don't have to only ask for one set of aid. You can apply for many aid projects. But making them a bit more open ended is perhaps a more governmental way to do it. You are asking for aid to work towards a goal. How much it will take to reach a goal is uncertain and will probably always be an ongoing project. Securing the islands form rising waters, transforming the islands into wind- and solar-power etc. is a big project. You can also make the islands into a testing ground for developing solutions for power, flood protection etc. and this way probably easier get grants because you are going for untested and developing industry and they always gets big benefits from county of origin because they would not be able to compete unless they sell at under cost.

>You can also make the islands into a testing ground for developing solutions for power, flood protection
I like the way you think. Flood protection was going to be a massive cost. But if I can push it through via the preserve island, I can get the design costs taken care of for the rest of the islands.
Power generation is going to be much more tricky. As we can't have large installments. Even a wind farm would be a pain in the arse as it'd be an eyesore for tourism. And cant build them off shore either. That's why I'm going with the craps shoot of Stirling engines. But I'm open to anything excremental. Just along it's not going to interfere with tourism/doesn't take up much of what little land there is.
Wave energy might a go though.

Thanks, you've given me lots to think about.

Depending on the locale you could look into tidal water plants. Also placing solar panels on all the roofs and along roads is a way to get power without taking much more space. Also solar power plant is an option.
Another option you have is Torium, but it might be a problem getting environmentalists on board. A Torium power plant is a nuclear power plant that can't have a meltdown on its own. To get power you need to provide a little power. If you turn of the power to the reactor it will just cool down on its own. There is no risk of cascade effect.

I honestly don't know of the legal hurdles. Most likely you'd need to be a native to come to their parliament.
But there's two options around this.

Firstly Identifying individuals that are sympathetic to our cause and having them run in our stead. Then have them change the law. But that years, time the islands don't really have.
Secondly having the people revolt. Shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Their IQ is 66, we'd just need highlight the mismanagement of their government coffers, and to make a few promises to enrich their quality of life. Something we're aiming to do anyways. We'd just have to add a stimulus package into the deal. Nothing like cold hard cash for people to get of their asses.
Luckily for us it's a small population(10-11k), so that wouldn't require too many boots on the ground to enact such a plain.

I know this is ambitious, but we don't really know what'll happen until we try.

That's mega dollars for a population of 10,000. Just what the in the fuck are they pissing away all this cash on? They don't even have a reliable source of drinking water. Something is seriously amiss.

Now it's not an absolute necessity to install a new government, if thing's prove impossible then I'm happy to settle for just running as a normal charity, lobbying for changes for the benefit of the peoples.
I just want to try transitional government bit purely for the lulz that would come from having taken over a nation via the internet. There's no malicious intent. I don't even want the current government out of parliament totally. I want them to be able to learn from us.

Taking over that country would be like marrying a single mother, seems like a good idea at first, at first.
Do some more research on that place, they don't even have tv and Christianity has failed to be implemented, radio is the main source of communication and the only tourist attractions there are pretty natural islands.
>Making a deal with flight companies
>Making the country attractive to tourists
>Reformation of the economy
>Re-education of the population (2+ generations)
>Reformation of the educational system
These are the most important points but let's not forget this country imports fuel, water, food, clothes and everything that's not fish and some types of wood.

Okay, what did you have for breakfast?

What setting was it in?

How did you eat it?
Picture it.
Why did you eat it?
Picture it.
What did you feel?
Picture it.
What does the experience make you feel recalling going into it? Upon reflection?
