> fall for the college meme
> get a 2.5 year diploma in IT
> graduate with honours
> apply for work
> no one interested
> everyone wants x years experience with niche language y
> jobs I know I'm qualified for never call back or reply to my application
> no idea what I'm doing wrong
> 1 year after graduation and I haven't worked a day
> proficiency in what I learned at school dropping over time
Anyone in a similar situation? What do you do? How do you cope? I just want to stop being a useless piece of shit all day playing all these games.

My sister has a fine arts degree, graduated with high honors, in the top 7% of the entire college.
She works at lowes. Doing HR.
My advice is to just go for something else and let your skills speak for themselves, not a piece of fucking paper.

This is almost exactly my situation. I spent the last 2 years getting a 2 year associates degree, I assumed that would be enough to get me in the door for an entry level programming job. I was considering going for a 4 year CS degree and am now glad I didn't because I'm already about 30k in the hole for this one.

Currently I'm working as a delivery driver, planning on moving to a cheaper city this summer. I'm going to keep building up my skill set and applying for part time jobs, gigs, whatever to get experience, but I think if this doesn't start working out soon I might just say fuck it and look into something else, drive a truck or something. Mostly I just want to get this stupid debt hammered down so I don't owe any more money to kikes, beyond that I don't have a particularly expensive lifestyle and could probably do okay if I could find a cheaper place to live.

Even STEM is starting to become a meme at this point, I don't think college is going to mean much this century. My advice to anyone considering school is to focus on learning stuff instead, learn from YouTube vids and free sources, focus on getting gigs and freelance work while living at home or living cheaply so you aren't desperately running yourself ragged vainly searching for full time work.

I should also mention I have a friend who literally has two different degrees, doesn't work in either of those fields.
Database management and something else in Computer Systems.
College is a fucking joke.

Send me your CV, block out all personal information (replace it with something like [REDACTED] ) and make sure to clean the documents of all meta data that could identify you if the fileformat includes any for your own safety.

Also send me a example of a personal letter. Again use [REDACTED] for any personal information. Ex: Name, adress, length, age etc etc etc.

Personal information also includes what school it was (but please do describe the school environment in a post a tiny bit), was it a SJW infested school or fairly normal ?)). If any documents includes a image then edit out the face or remove the images completely.

I can do no magic bullet but I got heavily redpilled regarding job searching due to my own experiences with it. Another set of eyes could be useful for feedback. Writing a good CV and Personal letter is easily 50% the reason for landing a interview. 25% skills and the rest is up to your personality, eventually memes (such as stem) and if the company is decent or retarded with diversity quotas. Any anons working as a recruiter (I don't FYI) or HR is welcome to join in and give some tips in the thread itself.

If the company is retarded with diversity quotas and intend on following it then it does not matter if you are a rising top programmer. If they just do it publicly for good PR then it's only a small annoyance.

It will be good to help a anon and good for my depression too. This offer is open for any anon in the thread that is struggling with job searching, include your Post ID or a throwaway e-mail I can send back the things with. Again it's not a magic bullet.

College counts as 2 years experience. They just write that to prevent sand niggers with no experience from applying.

If you want to do IT, you can just send out applications to every business and institution in your local area. If they have a wanted ad, they have an HR department with odd ideas, but even a mom&pops may need to update their computer systems from time to time.

This. Even if you don't have the skills, apply. Do research on the company and put why you want to join their company/business on your cover letter. You know, just a couple paragraphs that say "I would like to join your company and contribute to your success. I am interested in working in (company industry here), and look forward to working with you in the future! Attached is my resume."

Of course, that's the paper version. If they have an online form, fill that out too. Bombard them from every direction, while still being courteous. Just don't overdo it - like, don't e-mail them every day for a week. Once a week on a Thursday for a month should be enough. If they haven't responded in a month, then they probably filled the position (or they hired some immigrant).

I wish you the best, Leaf!

Know a guy from Lionhead who was a programmer and recruiter, he helped me write my CV, and gave me some great advice. This is for all you anons who are struggling.

First here's what NOT to do:
1) Focus too much on your personal life - No offence, but they don't give a toss much what you do in your spare time, your social media will tell them more than you ever could. If half a page is dedicated to your hobbies, trim it down to a small paragraph at most.

2) Write too little - This goes without saying really, but the amount of one page CVs they received was overwhelming, rule of thumb for them; if it's a mostly blank 1 page, they throw it out.

Now here's what they look for:
1) Demonstrating that you're smart and get things done - This is a cardinal rule when looking for applicants, and it's disheartening that people don't demonstrate this enough. As you're a graduate, surely you had some projects at Uni that demonstrate your skills? Do you link them in your CV? Do you have a github you can link to or something? Beyond that are you on LinkedIn? There's an entire book written about this, and it's a good read, I'll link to it below.

2) Showing an interest in your particular field - Beyond the basics, do you show an extra level of dedication to your field? Do you have a WordPress blog that you update on a semi-regular basis with projects you're working on? Do you have a website that you can link to in your CV that demonstrates your work? Be exceptional. Chances are if you show this, your recruiter will give you an interview, and want to talk about what you've done.

3) In terms of graduates? Education - As you're a graduate they wouldn't expect you to have much work experience, however they would be looking for a lot of detail regarding your education. So put it in. A whole page should be dedicated to your education.

4) Presentation - Not essential, but still worth considering. How do you lay out your CV? Is it legible? Is it just bland paper with text? Be eye catching! Remember that guy with the slightly cringy MLP CV? Not that I'm asking you to do that, it's up to you, but he's going places. I saw him on a TED talk not that long ago. Don't be forgetful is what I'm saying.

Remember anons, smart and gets things done - https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Gets-Things-Done-Technical/dp/1590598385/
Best of luck to you.

First and foremost never do pic related. Secondly, if you do go to college always aim for a 6 year degree. As a minimum get a 4 year degree, it's hard to get anything with a 2 year degree. My last piece of advice is to use your connections. Getting a job is hard, especially with the hiring quotas, but if you have friends or family that knows people hiring it becomes a lot easier. I don't have much other explicit advice because I graduated with a business degree.

Unless your name is Joseph Redmon, and you're a little genius who developed a powerful recognition software, and gave it away to the Open Source world.

There, here's what he's doing and it's pretty good. sure it might help the robot uprising in the future, making attack drones more autonomous and commercial bots more efficient.

Mà bellissimo!
and that's the point, the guy, even though he's got some bluepilled contacts and going to TEDx and all kind of stuff like that filled with hipsters, for touching a bit too much with computers and tech I get how it is hard for a software to understand an image, it needs to work in real-time and with a fast access to a large database, and detect shapes, but he made it, with a shitty laptop, while previously you'd need a big iron for that.

Information about college level education? Is that what I should write? Is their anyway I can improve this part of a CV during College? What about the 'your entire academic history from x year can be used' thing? Will anyone ever actually look at it. [nervous laughter]

Make an effort and throw your CV EVERYWHERE. And by EVERYWHERE I mean EVERYWHERE: Startups, big businesses, friends, etc.
If you're desperate for money and/or experience, try freelancing to not let your skills rust, make yourself good references and, as such, you will have something to tell about your works and skills on job interviews.
Design yourself a business card where you tell exactly what you can offer, so you can deploy some everywhere you go.

Yeah OP you dun fucked up. Uni is where you should be looking for a job. Its much safer for business to hire uni students as interns and work with them from there on in. Every day at Uni if your not looking for a job then your more likely to be ignored by the market. Its sorta a litmus test to see who's motivated and who more likely then not is going to be dead weight.
t. Engi who was hired first day out of Uni.
