Set six years after season 6, Occupied Equestria presents an alternative history where the Changelings have conquered half of Equestria, while a former Equestrian colony - soured to Princess Twilight's notion of harmony with all creatures because of their encounters with griffins - Invaded and took the other half. In Baltimare and the Equestrian Southeast, the magic of friendship has weakened, as Communists, Changeling infiltrators, Fascists, gangs, and corrupt creepy politicians threaten the city. This role play is based in large part upon the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and uses D&d 3.5e mechanics.
For those on the train. The train goes along at high speeds through the darkness past farmland, trees, and other trains... until it starts to slow down, and comes to a halt.

Prior to the Riverlands update, you could bee-line for heavy battleship technologies to start laying down a heavy battleship,then try to invade a number of Southern Griffonian nations, which would cause Aquelia to declare war on you, but that threat could be neutralized by placing a garrison at the one straight connecting new Freeside and Aquelia, and by sinking the entire Aquelian navy. Eventually you could place a single destroyer in the straight, while using the war with Aquelia to reduce your war justification time. The war with Equestria would always be the highlight of the whole game and centers on getting Equestria to guarentee a nation you then conquer, then making a naval invasion, breaking the back of the Equestrian army, and then making a mad dash to take as much land as possible before the changelings do. One tactic I liked was two separate invasions, one in the south and one in the north, to try to take as much land as possible. After that, you would wait until the next great confrontation, which would be against the Changelings. The Changelings would invade Stalliongrad, then Nova Griffonia, which would reduce their pony power but increase the length of the border.
Now... Just yuck. At some point the game was changed so that Stalliongrad would almost invariably join the Great War, both in historical and non-historical playthroughs. This makes the whole war so much more difficult for any invasion of the eastern coast, and especially makes splitting the forces ill advised. Obviously this has the effect of meaning that Stalliongrad is not left as an enemy after the war, and there is no waiting on the Changelings to invade Stalliongrad and Nova Griffonia, because the player is forced to do that first. I finally, FINALLY literally just today had a playthrough where Stalliongrad didn't try to join the war (although they did on an earlier save of the same game). Also I should note that there was a brief but blissful period of time when it was possible for Stalliongrad to join but not request military access from Equestria. Also, more recently Wingbardy has started very, very annoyingly to do it's war goal on New Mareland during the Great War... Which is quite something. In fairness this is on non-historical playthroughs
The other huge difference is with the Ironclad update and how it completely fucked up the navy. That update was just a terrible idea. First off, it now takes three times as long to build a capital ship. Just... why. A year to build a battleship was already a very long time, now with it taking three years, it's basically impossible for a minor nation or hell, any major without a first rate navy at the start of the game to build a navy that can compete. The second big change is that Navies just fucking look at each other but refuse to fight. It used to be that you could place your ships in the same region as the enemy ships, then you can just step back and watch them fight light that Japanese guy in the 2014 Godzilla movie. Not you can cram 20 vessels in the same region as 80 enemy ships that they do jack shit. I'm pretty damned sure that the Bismark couldn't even do a training exercise without encountering and fighting British Battleships on multiple occasions, and that in WW1 the instant the Germans took their fleet out of Harbor they fought the royal navy, as well as being completely unable to bring their Pacific fleet back to Germany, losing the whole damned thing in Argentina. Okay, so what kinds of quests do people want?
My favorite genres are historical and horror (and maybe war). I think that kind of shows, as most of the events include these elements plus also political or criminal drama. Genres that I haven't included as much of include fantasy, which I don't really like as much, and mystery, which I am not confident in my ability to write. I guess it is a little strange that magic and fantastical elements would be downplayed in a setting that is obviously fantastical, but I like the mundane.
What do you all want? Are quests and plot-lines too long? Do we need more magic, more adventure, more action, less action, or what?

Hm, I guess the quest goes alright. I believe the lack of optimal character build is going to make things tough mechanically in the long run. In terms of themes, you're doing good. I can feel the adrenaline pumping and the tension of a fight clear as day, and the historical tidbits are a nice little cherry on top. I'm not sure how you'll tackle politics with a literal native whose ideas are way too simple for civilization,
but the little talk with Cauldron before the second boop fight was handled well.

Star seems to be very stubborn in his refusal to show his feelings or concerns to Skies, and is extraordinarily jealous of anypony who gets even a little close to her. The Black Hooves are a New Marelander creation, not an Equestrian one. They're tailored to the interests of a far-off country, far removed from Equestria, and whether the Duke likes it or not they will not accept mandates from a foreign power that is unaccountable to the Equestrian people (probably why they aren't very popular here, now that he thinks on it). Equestria must be free. Whether that's by working with New Mareland to make both countries stronger or by working alone, it's up to the Black Hooves and the Duke to decide.

Other than that, I do have one question off the top of my head, even if it's not a very good meta question: out of the six currently active characters not sure if I should include the sudden bard or not which would you want to play, and what would you want to do differently while playing them?

Oh God, I don’t even know. I mostly just like the world building more so than wanting to play in it. I guess if I had to pick anything, it would be to play a disguised Changeling and keep it a secret, purely for the fun of seeing how many subtle hints I can get in before the rest of the party finally notices.
