Welcome to the latest thread of Occupied Equestria. Set six years after season 6, it presents an alternative history where Chrysalis chose a different approach to her second attack on Equestria. The Changelings have conquered half of Equestria, while an Equestrian splinter colony - soured to Princesses notion of harmony with all creatures thank to their dealing with griffins - Invaded and took the other half. In Baltimare and the Equestruan Southlands, the magic of friendship has weakened, as Communists, Changeling infiltrators, Fascists, gangs, and even ancient necormancers and dark gods threaten the city and the surrounding regions. This role play is based in large part upon the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and uses D&d 3.5e mechanics.
In the latest episode, we are starting day 4. Ash is finally getting to sleep after dealing with foals that scarified animals to evil gods, Iron is disappointed to find that the only sex he is getting is in his dreams, Dark Star has declined to have sex, Onxy has discovered the joys of socialized medicine, I don’t know what Spark is doing, and Silver has discovered that when you don’t complete a quest, you don’t get paid for it

>>80528i can relate i had a player like iron when i first started gming. everything worked out fine.
>>80533>>80531"well to be fair, i thought it was a salt lick."
>>80534>>80535Ash's response makes Silver's glance turn into a glare directed at Onyx and Star. "Who would keep salt licks in vases?" Silver brings up the rear, keeping his rifle at the ready, and his horn lit up to help the rear of the group see where they're going. "When we see fork in tunnel, we should see which side wind is coming from."
>>80537Iron nods at the front. He'll try to feel the wind when the fork comes up.
>>80535Not sure if should keep Blue on scene to respond to statements like that>>80534Assuming she actually goes down, the tunnel spans about 80 feet perhaps. In this section is the decomposing corpse of a pony, in full military garb, about six months decomposed. Further down is an area where there seems to have once been a door, which clearly rotted and was kicked down or through, or otherwise was destroyed. After that, the tunnel widens a bit, and there is a fork, one going directly right, the other going directly left
>>80539Sister Ash politely requests directions to the sarcophagus, and the jars of dust.
>>80537>>80536"I thouhgt Oynx was lieing."
>>80539i would like that but its up to you. >>80540"They are in left fork, in side rooms once tunnel opens up into crypts."
>>80541>More disgust.png"..Good luck..." She says, solemnly
>>80542"Thank you." She replies with a bow before she heads off in that direction.
>>80541Blue Skies shrugs, "I can't really say I can judge"
>>80543 >>80544Silver maneuvers around the group to join her. "If you will allow me, I shall assist should any undead come after you."
>>80546She nods as she proceeds on her way.
>>80544Assuming this means that she goes left in that tunnel, she eventually walks over top of a completely degraded skeleton with a leather jacket and a musket lying next to him, before coming upon a partly broken door which leads to a separate, wider hall. There are dozens of spent bullet shells on the ground.
Mind you that there is no natural no artificial light in the cavern. Whatever light Ash is supposed to have only illuminates maybe a few feet in front of her and to her sides. If there is a lich standing 20 feet in front of her and staring right at her, she can neither see it well nor is she paying attention well enough to notice it
>>80544"Am i gonna be okay?"
>>80545"it tasted awful."
>>80545Dark Star heads to where they fought the sargent
>>80548Iron is astounded by how much space is down here in a cellar under a house.
>>80548Silver's eyes strain uselessly against the dark. "It is times like this where I wish I was more skilled with magic. Knowing light spell would be very useful, more so than light my horn already produces."
>>80549"Star, would you mind shining your flashlight around area? Make sure there are no undead in shadows?"
>>80548Sister Ash gives a prayer and casts Light, a subtle glow emanating from her horn as she proceeds forward, looking for where the jars were described to be.
>>80549"Only time will tell." Sister Ash replies, dismissively
"Want to see just what you licked first.."
>>80552"Strange, the light spell Spark put on my armor does not work?" He looks down on his armor to check.
>>80553Silver points to the first side room. "It was in there. I believe I have yet to gather my rope from last time we were here."
>>80553Caleb has low-light vision btw. He can also detect creatures within 60 feet via scent.
>>80555Checked
Sister Ash enters the room cautiously.
Blue Skies decided to careful walk down the hallway after them. When she gets to the split, she stares into the darkness of the left hallway. She pulls out her pistol and aims down it, ears errect and eyes fixed. After a few seconds, she turns away, tail down, and canters away quickly
>>80552the problem with Silver's horn is that it spreads light in all directions. This means he can at least see the walls of the hall, and helps when in the rooms, but means that the light dissipates far ahead of him
>>80553How powerful is that?
>>80556Ash has not been murdered by unseen attackers thus far.
when she enters she can see that it is a square room with a table on the right side, restraints and shackles on the left wall. On the far wall is an entire wall of jars, many of which contain a blue and white salt looking substance. In the center of the room is a pit with a circular wall around the entrance, making it look kind of like a well in the center of the room. This one has a board going from the side of the 'well' to the ground inside. It looks like this entire room was once boarded up, judging by the presence of broken wood
>>80552"of course."
Dark Star turns on his flashlight
>>80553"thats....ominous."
>>80560"It sure is." Iron still looks dumbfounded. He notices the corpses. "That was the ones who you fought down here, right?"
>>80559I'm still wondering how long I should have her follow him"This place is not unoccupied"
>>80556>>80557Yup. TBH, I looked at the Light spell in the wiki and made a weaker version for Silver, figuring the most he would be able to manage without much skill or training with magic would be a weakened version. I think the farthest you can see with the full-power spell is 20 feet.Silver follows Ash into the room, untying the rope he used to climb into the center pit from the broken door frame. "So, what is it you need to do with ashes? Any way I might be of help?"
>>80561"a few of them, some where already dead when we arrived."
>>80562Hes calmed by her being there."of course its not. this is close to where i was bitten."
>>80564"I see." He follows Star.
[1d2 = 1]>>80557It's a 20 foot glow, but now that I look at it, it wasn't actually one of my prepared spells.
Sister Ash casts Luminous Armor, and shares it with Caleb. The armor creates light equivalent to a Daylight spell (60 foot emanation). It will last for 5 hours.
She takes 1d2 Strength damage, as the sacrifice component for the spell.
"Ah, this is much better." Sister Ash says with a sight, as a shimmering aura of light envelopes her body.
>>80557Sister Ash inspects the jars.
How many of them are there?
She also barely peeks towards the well, checking for movement.
>>80563okay, just know that a very weakened light spell, telekenisis, maybe a weakened 'hand' and another spell that relates to some special talent is about the extent of what I am letting Silver get away with without mage levels. I have no intention of Unicorns or Pegasi being very obliviously superior to Earth Poniest. Earth Pony supremacist>>80564"Okay... that hallway behind you is questionable"
>>80566Well, she can definitely see everything in the room, which is at most 20 ft by 20 ft and probably much smaller
>>80567In this room? A dozen at minimum that contain the salt
I need to think about implications before giving a more exact figure... [1d20+9 = 24]>>80568Sister Ash approaches the jars with a somber expression, and examines several of them individually.
If one were to listen closely, they might notice that she's speaking something softly as she looks over the jars.
Also, may as well make a Spellcraft check to make out any emanation of magick.
>>80569I see the issue. I mistakenly referred to the 'left hallway.' Actually, it is the
right hallway, to the fork
>>80570Yep. These salts be magical
[1d20+3 = 18]>>80568Seems fair to me.>>80570Listen: Silver trots over to Ash and listens carefully, trying to pick up on what she's saying.
>>80571So we went right instead of left?
>>80573No, the entire party went on the left hall. Blue Skies was just staring down the right hall
[1d20+9 = 17]>>80571Sister Ash looks closer, the saddness in her eyes growing as her suspicions are confirmed.
Rolling to tell what spell was cast on them, or at least make out the school of magick (any conjuration aura? Necromancy is a given).
>>80572It appears seems to be a prayer or sultra in a language he doesn't recognize.
It has a slight rhythm to it, and as he listens closer, he'd notice that she's not speaking, but singing softly. It has a solemn, gentle tone not unlike what you'd expect to hear at a funeral.
>>80575Part of the substance in the jars is essentially cremated remains, treated with acid to form basically a salt, as well as some other chemical components for the magic that seem to have an arsenic base. The main magic involved is an evocation to call the spirit of the dead. It does not appear that these salts would form an entirely corporeal being if activated. Ash can't immediately determine what the activation
is, but it obviously doesn't require complex magic or a special caster
>>80575Silver feels rather calmed by it. He tries to think back on whatever chants or songs he knows that comes close to what she's singing so he might join along.
I'm not sure if a skill check for that exists. >>80574Ah okay.
"Should we go check it out?"
[1d20+6 = 14]>>80576Evocation? Didn't expect that.
Sister Ash's bface twists in confusion for a moment, then conviction.
She spends several minutes looking at the jars, seemingly checking each one individually, as her almost-silent chant persists.
After a while, she speaks, her tone solemn
"... They're still there.. Th-they've been there.. Epona knows how long..." She says, with a grim stutter as she eyes the jars in all but horror
"..They need to be reposed..." She says, her tone growing convicted
"The least I can do is remove them from this horrible place.." she says as she opens up her empty satchel and ever so slowly levitates a few jars off of the shelf
Her chanting resumes, now just slightly more audible.
Also, rolling Religion lore (undead) to see if she know just wtf happened to them
>>80578"We should warn the others that we are going there before that. Just in case we take too long."
>>80579Silver decides the least he can do to help is to grab a few of the remaining jars to put in his own saddlebags. While he can't join in with Ash's chant, he does start a funeral chant of his own in his native Cyrillic tongue, speaking softly as to not interrupt Ash.
[1d20+10 = 21][1d20+10 = 15]>>80578"No... you are fine to be thorough"
Dark Star gets the impression that she is afraid to go outside alone
>>80579The spell itself that has been cast on these corpses and souls is one that is applied to the cremated remains of a dead body. The body must already have been dead for that to work. Te remains act as a sort of 'key' connecting the spirit to the material realm
>>80581She whispers him to be careful with them.
Okay, I'd like to know how many jars there are here. Sister Ash wants to bring them all outside before she goes any further.
>>80583In this one room? Let's say 12 minus the ones silver took
