Just thought it would be fun with an thread about the good old games and do some walks down memory lane.

So I'll start off with some old favourites of mine, that I think all sould have played at least once, or know about. This is by no means a complete list just some I thought of before making this thread.

These games are probably my top 3 of all time. I've definitely got more, I will add them later.

Myst (1993)
Probably the comfiest adventure game you will ever play. The world is amazingly immersive for how simple it is. This one is the most well-known of the titles listed here, and the only one whose developers have kept up with the times and tweaked the game to run on newer systems.

The 7th Guest (1992)
Great puzzle adventure set in a haunted house. The story is a little hard to piece together but there is a companion novel that is worth reading and fills in a lot of the holes. This game was the first game to use Full Motion Video and helped to initially boost sales of CD ROM drives back when it was an experimental technology.

The Dark Eye (1995)
This game is a bit obscure, it didn't sell well in its era but its amazing for what it is. There's no puzzles and gameplay is mostly interacting with the environment and following a story; it's more of an interactive novel than a game. Basically you play your way through 3 Edgar Allan Poe stories two different times, once as the murderer and once as the victim, as well as a framing story. This one might actually be my favorite game of all time if I had to pick, either this one or Myst at least.

You can also buy Myst and The 7th Guest legally via gog.com if you would like. They're not expensive and it saves the trouble of setting up emulation, which can be tricky for games of this era. The Dark Eye as far as I know is completely out of print and is notoriously difficult to get working on an emulator, at least I had some trouble with it. However, it is well worth the effort.

Will check out The Dark eye as I haven't played that one.
>also great descriptions, I should have added that in my list in OP

I was mostly an Adventure type player, so I'll add a few more I really liked.
The games listed below can easiest be played using ScummVM https://www.scummvm.org/

The day of the Tentacle (1993)
The game's plot follows Bernard Bernoulli and his friends Hoagie and Laverne as they attempt to stop the evil Purple Tentacle—a sentient, disembodied tentacle—from taking over the world. The player takes control of the trio and solves puzzles while using time travel to explore different periods of history.
The day of the Tentacle is an sequel to the Maniac Mansion game (The day of the Tentacle has a "computer" in one of the rooms where you can play the original Maniac Mansion).

Beneath a steel sky (1994)
Set in a dystopian future, the player assumes the role of Robert Foster, who was stranded in a wasteland known as "the Gap" as a child and adopted by a group of local Aboriginals, gradually adjusting to his life in the wilderness. After many years, armed security officers arrive, killing the locals and taking Robert back to Union City. He escapes and soon uncovers the corruption which lies at the heart of society.
