The SSRS Kostroma lies idle in the southeastern bay of Mended Horn Island. Only the front portion, the two forward masts and the front of the superstructure that sits in the center of the freighter's hull, is illuminated by a pair of dim lights that glow orange-red, a sure sign that the boilers of the Kostroma are dying, and the lights will soon go off. The remainder of the ship's funnel, and the mast behind the superstructure are visible only in silhouette. The gibbous moon and starry night that would have provided a clear backdrop to the black hulk of the Kostroma have been smothered by the overcast skies and light rain.
A sound comes, not from the Kostroma, and indeed, not from anywhere at all. A low, vaguely tinnitus-like sound that drains out the sound of silence. It calls to you. It calls to everyone.
"Come to the Kostroma, good soldier. Join us here. Come."

>>194870doopFor a third time, Stained Sand is grabbed
Silver picks up the torch and either turns it off or forces it into something
>>194874>>194873No response
>>194872Not quite, though obviously that specific pony is going to the far end of the room
>>194870The tendrils make another attack, this time reaching out for Kira
[1d20+6 = (14+6) = 20][1d20+8 = (17+8) = 25] >>194875>>194874Kira feels a
yoink tugging at the end of her tail. She may make a counter grapple, the number to beat being 25
>>194875>>194876This gets Kira into a panic. Stained Sand is taken for a ride as Kira wriggles about trying to get the freaky tentacle of darkness off of her. "GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!"
Oppossed Grapple:
[1d20+13 = (8+13) = 21] >>194877yoinkKira is pulled up by her tail. She can only just touch the ground with her chest and hooves. Her body is not really designed to stretch in that way, so it’s rather painful.
>>194878"
OWIE! HELP! IT'S GOT ME!"
Kira screams out as she swings her upper half around, trying to break free from the hold.
Improved Grapple:
[1d20+13 = (3+13) = 16] >>194881I'm busy at work, and I don't really know what's going on, but since my last target ran away I will focus on the tentacle monster currently denied their dex bonus by grappling.
Charge with sword
[1d20+9 = (14+9) = 23][1d8+6 = (3+6) = 9] I meant the one attacking Kira btw.l
Did I hit?
>>194882On the one hoof, that’s high enough to heat its AC. On the other hoof, that might not be
physically high enough
>>194884How high is it? How close to the walls?
Is there anything else I can do on my turn?
If Kira is on the ground and being attacked, how can Posey not reach the attacking creature from the ground?
She could use her Halberd instead.
>>194887A unique feature of Kira's physiology allows her to simultaneously be 10 feet off the ground but also on the ground. Whereas Posey is closer to the ground. I suppose though, if Posey jumped, or if any part of the tendrils are lower and closer to the ground, and most certainly if she used a halberd, she could reach it
>>194885It must be attached to the walls and extending out. Like a plant.
>>194879Kira may want to keep her mouth shut to keep her from regurgitating yesterday's dinner
>>194887>>194889I also made a quick 5 minute diagram in paint to provide a visual reference
>>194895>>194882>>194895Posey jumps into the air and slices into a tendril already damaged by an arrow and weighed down. It pulls off, and Kira and Stained Sand with her fall to the floor
>>194896Great.
How many enemies are in combat right now?
>>194896Kira comes down with a massive
THUD and lets out a quiet, "...owwwww..." Her eyes shoot open in a panic after only a second of realizing she's free, and she gets into a position to attack with her bow again...while she's still coiled around Sand, with the bulge from the digesting Hopper very near him.
>>194896>>194898"You two okay?" Cavaliere asks, glancing their way.
He takes aim at one of the creatures with rifles. Are any of them visibly griffons?
>>194900Stained Sand:
“No! These things keep grabbing me!” He attempted to push off Kira’s trunk, presumably unsuccessfully.
There are three creatures in Cargo Hold 4, all three of whom are ponies. One pony left and port who has moved back and is shooting a barrel. In the center, a rifle pony who has started to retreat from the room and is now the courtesy away. To the right and starboard, a pony has been kicking barrels in Cavaliere’s direction
>>194901They're not communicating with each other, right?
Posey returns to the next room on her turn, with intent to run through it to the boiler room.
>>194901Apparently you can't disarm or sunder with a ranged attack. Very sad.
Cavaliere shoots at the earth pony kicking barrels.
[1d20+8 = (5+8) = 13][2d6 = 11] >>194897Three ponies in cargo Hold 4. The darkness
seems to have been defeated, but noticeably Mala, Rustling Pine, and Blackheel have entered Cargo Hold 5 to provide fire support.
>>194902Not in a way that Posey can hear.
>>194903It seems tl hit, if only barely
The left rifle pony moves away and retreats towards the bow. The right pony, previously at the barrels, moves away and retreats towards the bow. The rifle pony in the center moves to look for an item in the front half of Cargo Hold 4.
>>194901Bull Rush Charge: With Posey out of the way, Silver charges the pony shooting at the barrel full of kerosene and attempts to slam him into the wall, hopefully with enough force that he drops the weapon.
[1d20+5 = (11+5) = 16] >>194906>>194905Dangit. Maybe he can still bull rush the one in the center?
>>194907I think so. Or he could still try the one on the left but that one gets a save, because it's had time to move out of direct line of attack. the one of the center has a clear line of attack though
>>194908Let's go with the center pony, then.
>>194905Seeing as how the one in cargo hold 4 is flat-footed and closest, Posey draws her bow and shoots him samurai style.
Bone Bow:
[1d20+6 = (8+6) = 14][1d10+3 = (10+3) = 13]Iajutsu Focus
[1d20+8 = (15+8) = 23] Wait, did I target the wrong enemy?
I'm sorry. I am very confused with the situation and initiative order.
>>194909>>194906The pony makes an attack if opportunity, using his rifle as a blunt object
[1d20+3 = (15+3) = 18][1d6+1 = (5+1) = 6]And opposed strength check
[1d20+1 = (10+1) = 11]>>194910Not quite her turn yet. Also I’m skeptical she’d have line of sight
>>194913Could she take a move action? She could draw her bow as part of that move action.
I don't want to waste that excellent damage roll
>>194913The butt of the rifle slams into Silver's head, no doubt leading to what will be a painful welt later, but it's too late as Silver carries his momentum into the pony and likewise
slams into him, forcing him back.
>>194910>>194911That is insane damage. This is why I'm hesitant to roll before knowing if I can attack
aside from before we rolled initiative.
Cavaliere calls out,
"They're retreating! Try to subdue them, not kill!" >>194917"They are not retreating, they are repositioning! Neutralize them before they burn down the entire ship."
>>194913With the darkness defeated for the moment, Kira slithers into the bulkhead, grimacing as she feels the kerosene get stuck on the underside of her snake body, and gets into position for optimal constriction on the pony on the right.
>>194916The pony is, I suppose. Forced back?
>>194917Stained Sand:
“I don’t believe it. They’re retreating! We’ve won!”
>>194919She does in fact feel the icky kerosene, and it gets into her scales. But she is closer in position. One pony looks dead…
I think it’s Posey’s Turn, assuming Silver confirms his action
>>194920"Use your brain! If they are not communicating with us or eachother, they are not thinking for themselves. This is clearly a trick." Posey barks back
>>194921Can I keep that same roll from earlier, with a move action to reposition?
>>194910>>194922I suppose? The target is in melee combat with Silver, and besides it has previously been established as wearing armor, so I don’t think a 14 would hit
>>194924>in meleeI guess my turn was wasted then...
Turn over.
Wait, did Silver move with the enemy after pushing him babk? Because if he didn't he wouldn't be in melee.
I thought the enemy was flat-footed because he was bust retrieving an item.
>>194926Nah, he wouldn't be in melee, so you're good to go through with your turn.
