If you're referring to the Carrington event, Skeptic suggests that was a phenomenon that occurred without the presence of Planet X, and not having the earthquakes and volcanoes. I assert that the planet is no different. The premise is, the earth - countless years ago - was a larger sphere than we currently experience.
The idea is that, the moon we currently know was a planetoid in orbit around planet X. Being respurceful, thelifenon Planet X eventually made efforts to colonize ther (to be our) moon, hollowed it out, and made it to operate in a manner they could control.
At this time, much more of our solar system was inhabited and inhabitable. Venus and Mars, for example, were teeming with life with sustainable atmospheres.
The average life lives was of plenty.
Depending on the accounts, early 'humans' were genderless, and the atmosphere of the planet was lush and tropical.
Planet x would have and did make it's 'however frequent' fly by's, but did so innocuously; its orbit was enough outside that of the Earth's that its fly-by's avoided causing any catastrophe's.
But.
It was discovered by the residents of Planet X, that if they were to manipulate the orbit of our now-moon, they could cause the moon to collide with the planet Earth.

Meanwhile the Earth - previously maintaining a stable and independent solar orbit - suddenly was operating in tandem with the moon, and upset by a gaping lass of mass (present day antarctica). The sphere that the planethad been was now kore acorn-shaped, butbecause of its interconn3cted gravity/orbit with the moon did not have the unadultered gravity field that would ALLOW the planet to acieve equilibrium and bring the planet backnto a spherical shape.
And that says nothing of what happened to life on Earth.
