Hard to say for sure. They clearly made it a decent ways in. The most pressing issue - by far - is the bleeding, which will kill him in a few minutes. He may also drown in blood.

Silver can recognize the type of gun. It's a belt-fed, water cooled machine gun of medium caliber on a tripod. It's designed for area defense, is very accurate, and can fire almost indefinitely. It's what the Equestrians use to defend key locations like the royal castle at Canterlot. A blind spot rather close to the building on Old Mecc. A larger blind spot along the south side of Main Street, around the post office. And then one extending a block or more on the approach from the East. Essentially these are caused by the gun being blocked by the roof and the roof of the post office from being able to point far enough down.
