Up in the North, the ponies have successfully found who, or rather, what was damaging the mine. But their quest is not over, as they go to look for the source of the trouble. In Baltimare, Iron, Silver, and Dark Star enjoy the fruits of defeating the cultists, while Midnight herds the remaining rescues.

>>128484Silver can see his eyes, ears and head track onto the paper money as it floats through the air
"Really?! Aww, thanks!"
He seems elated, much like Keskoo was
"Just to explain this to my mother"
>>128485He chuckles and smiles at the happy pony.
"We will say this is payment for doing work for me. You did do much in helping me with cart and furniture today."
>>128486"Well, you know I didn't do
that much. Still though, I'll see if Rohke will sell. And I'll definitely have the money to take her out for dinner and movies these next few nights. Bet she's never seen one of those"
>>128487"That sounds like great idea for you and her to do. If I have not, then it is entirely possible she has not.
"You are good pony, Loputu. Continue being yourself, and you will get her someday."
He gives him a pat on the shoulder.
"And if you are ever in market for wingpony, I am always available."
>>128488"Aww, shucks" he says, smiling back
"Just wish I could catch her like I can catch fish"
>>128489"It just takes persistence. Spend some more time together, let her know you are interested. It certainly seemed like she might become interested in you, if you two spend more time together."
>>128490"Well, I certainly wouldn't mind more of that" His eyes roll around, until they come back to Silver's with no smile
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you What happened to that mare who looked
just like Keskoo, but with straight hair. The one who told me she did elderly care around here? At first I confused the two of them, they looked so much alike"
>>128491"Oh, she went with Iron before police arrived. It sounded like Iron wanted to get out with his share of loot he got from 33 Hoebuck."
>>128492He nods, though something in his expression suggests he does not entirely understand
"It seemed strange to me..."
The ponies do not have to walk very far at all before they are back on Pelican lane. Her apartment is only a few blocks away. Loputu walks up to the property, and around the building, to find Rohke Meri still working on the boat, evidently scrubbing the deck. He looks over and sees the ponies
"Where have you been? I thought you would be back hours ago"
>>128493Silver bows his head to Rohke.
"Apologies for keeping your apprentice for so long. Him leading us around Little Skynavia turned into him helping us move much furniture up several flights of stairs. I could not have done it without him."
>>128494He looks back to Silver for a moment in silence. Then he says
"Very well. Good to have him back. Hope he wasn't
too much trouble"
>>128495"He was no trouble at all. He is very good pony, very respectable."
>>128496He is again silent for a moment, but then nods
"Very good, and good to hear that. Now I just need him to finish maintenance on the pipes and the pump. I want the
Au Bluffheadile ready to go out for a series of voyages into the Lunar Gulf next week."
>>128497Silver nods, and pats Loputu's back.
"Thank you again for all of your help today, Loputu. I wish you luck."
>>128498He smiles again, says "You're welcome, Mister," and he steps onto the boat, putting on a waterproof suit and galoshes again
>>128499Silver waves goodbye to Loputu and, assuming no one tries to stop him, leaves the area.
>>128500And so, Silver walks away
Where to now?
>>128448Fantasy wakes up from her nap with a big yawn. She and her cat stretches out their limbs a bit. She pat the cat on his head, which the cat leans into.
"So let's do what we came here to do," Fantasy says.
>>128502Whether the room is a suitable alternative to Nuzzleville, only Slogo knows. But the cat seems to have the lazy indifference that characterizes feline contentedness .
Fantasy is ready
>>128503Fantasy puts the map on a nearby table as she plans her trip.
First things first, I need to buy material components for my spells. Silk, fleece, and wool should probably be found in somekind of textile store. And shouldn't be too hard to find or expensive. Parchment should be easily found in a book store. But where am I suppose to find a copper wire and a prism, especially prism. A copper wire could probably be found in a hardware store. but I have no idea where to find a prism. Maybe I should ask visit the academy first so I can ask them where they buy their material components? But without material components, how can I prove to them that I'm capable? She nods to herself.
No. They should probably have materials to spare and then they can give me advice on where to find things. She hammers her left hoof into her right.
It's settle then. I'm going to visit the academy first.Does this city have and magic academy were ponies can study magic?
Also, what does this mean:
An eyelash encased in a bit of gum arabic.
What is specifically
gum arabic?
>>128504Gum Arabic - "a gum exuded by some kinds of acacia, used in the food industry, in glue, as the binder for watercolor paints, and in incense."
There are indeed academies in Baltimare, though it doesn't appear that any of them specialize
specifically in Magic
University of Baltimare, and James Haykins seem like they each have magical divisions that can rival the Magic Schools of old
>>128505I'm sorry. I have this tendecy to ask first and search later. Could have just searched that. Sorry.
Fantasy lifts up her coin pouch, pours out bits which totals to 300, leave the rest of the bits in the pouch and places it on the bed next to the cat. She then wipe with her hoof down the coins into her saddlebag, so they lay in it loosely.
"Bye, Slogo. Gaurd that pouch with your life," she says and winks playfully at him as she exit her room.
She leaves the building and starts her journey towards the closest of the schools.
>>128508Slogo rolls over onto his back, llooking up lethargically at her. Clearly, he intends to make good on Fantasy's direction.
University of Baltimare is around Eastside near the center. James Haykins is a little North of Center. Saint Ingram is another option. University of Baltimare is the largest, and technically the closest, and it is a public school run by the Government. James Haykins is Private, and the most prestigious. It is the second closest. Saint Ingram has a prestige to itself, and is Private and Church run. It's also the furthest away
>>128509Fantasy move towards University of Baltimare.
What's the time? Is the sun still up?
>>128510Yes. 2:12 PM.
Fantasy Play walks down a street past a few large public buildings like a library, a few office buildings, and into indefinite rows of tenement buildings and row houses. Not every street is completely clean, some with having garbage bags not yet collected, or potholes in the road, and this becomes truer the further east she goes.
But it's no more than a kilometer, if that, before she arrives at a set of blocks with big brick and stone buildings, marked as fraternity houses, or dorms. Some old buildings with class rooms, and some newer buildings with straight, concrete and glass exteriors that lack any of the charm of the older buildings. She is here
>>128511She enters and looks for some information center to talk to.
>>128512Walking down a sidewalk, up a concrete set of stairs, and past young ponies and.... non-pony creatures? - Fantasy play finds a building which seems to be the most publicly accessible, for "Admissions." There is a young mare receptionist wearing her hair in a bun at a desk
>>128514>Non-pony creaturesWhat kind of non-ponies?
"Hi," Fantasy says and walks up to her. "I have a few questions."
>>128515The first that she sees, she can recognize as a griffin. Probably male, and actually smaller than she expected. The second is some strange pony-like creature with scales that defies classification, save that it seems to be kind of a pony, and kind of not
"Yes?" The mare says, looking up at her
"Questions about what? Are you looking to apply, or drop a class?"
>>128517Sorry, got busy with something else. Should have said something.
"Not really. But it might be useful to know a bit more about. What courses do you have that concerns magic? What does a student gian from taking one of your courses, and what do they cost?"
>>128518"We have many degrees available in 30 different areas of study, which can provide an education and skills that can prove invaluable in a changing world" she says, as if repeating rote
"We do have a school of magic as well. It can can range from hundreds to thousands of bits, to free, depending on what kind of assistance you can get"
>>128519"Okay... Thank you," Fantasy mulls this over. "So next question, do you have any work you need to be done? Is a spot open, perhaps? Also, I would like to talk to some scholar in arcana here, I have a few questions?"
>>128520"Well, unless you are looking for janitorial, cooking or security work, no, we don't have any openings, and even those tend to fill quickly. I
do think there are a couple adjunct positions are open, but assuming you are not asking for that... yes, we have many professors in Arcana here" she pulls out a new, single page map
"Right here, in Gusty Hall"
>>128521Do my character know about magical school of necromancy?
>>128522Judging from your list of spells known, it doesn't look to me like Fantasy Play knows how to cast any spells within the School of Necromancy. Of course, she certainly knows
of the school of Necromancy,
>>128523Okay, nice.
"So do you have a professor in necromancy. I have a few questions for him," Fantasy says.
>>128524She opens her eyes very wide
"No.... I don't think we do"
>>128525Fantasy sees her reaction and waves her hoof in the air dismissively.
"Ah, forget about it. I'm only pulling your leg," she says.
Bluff:
[1d20 = 10] +4
>>128526"Ha" she laughs nervously
"Very well. Good luck"
>>128527Fantasy leaves campus, checks on her map again, andd starts to move towards the Baltimare hotel.
>>128528"Thank you," she says to the mare before she leaves.
And that was wrong. Didn't read the first post
>>128528Fantasy goes back to the Hotel
>>128531No, I meant the other hotel. The one that's confiscate, Grand Baltimare.
>>128533Well that's a surprising change
Fantasy Play goes back into town, to find it not that many blocks from where she is staying.
It's four stories, kind of a brownish stone facade, with a high vaulted black roof and windows that stick out with "Juliet" balconies. A set of stone steps leads up to a set of doors.
To each side of the stone steps is a pony with a green helmet, and green uniforms. And at the top of the steps, is a creature Fantasy has likely heard of, but perhaps has not seen. A minotaur of greyish fur, standing and holding some kind of black gun.
>>128534Can she walk passed the minotaur or is he in the way?
>>128535He is in the way
"What is your business, little pony?" He asks
>>128536"Learning. I seek understanding of the motives of the black hoofs and if our wills align, I wish to join," she answers.
