Up in the North, the ponies have successfully found who, or rather, what was damaging the mine. But their quest is not over, as they go to look for the source of the trouble. In Baltimare, Iron, Silver, and Dark Star enjoy the fruits of defeating the cultists, while Midnight herds the remaining rescues.

>>128692You're going to add Atlantis in seapony form, living under the sea for this, aren't you?>>128693Woah! I
obviously meant griffin kebab. It's satisfying to peel the meat off the stick in my opinion.
But I suppose Silver is an avid fish eater in his core. >>128693A griffin comes to take the order. This one has a darker color scheme, almost black.
Jubilosa seems almost pleasantly surprised to see another griffin, while Mala remains silent
>>128695Silver lets out an awkward cough at the silence, and looks over at Mala.
"So...why not tell us bit about yourself, Mala?"
>>128696He looks up to Silver, and one of his almost diamond-shaped ears twitches
"What do you want to know?" he asks
>>128694Well, who else are you going to call when you're in distress? >>128697"Well...whatever. Just tell us about yourself."
>>128698"Well... I don't really know where I was born, but I grew up here. In the city. I didn't really connect well with the ponies around me. I
did know my father... maybe not very well though. I did have a brother, but he didn't make it. My mother was strong. Forward. Maybe a little harsh. But she broke down sometime after I stopped seeing dad. She died of the Melancholia I think. I stayed on the streets after that. Dropped out of school. Not like I was good at learning. I did have a job at a warehouse, briefly... What... Whatelse did you want to know?"
>>128699"You certainly not have had very good life...what was warehouse job like?"
>>128700"Lifting crates, loading palates, checking off shipments. Things like that"
>>128701"Makes sense. What is it you
want to do, as in career?"
>>128702"I don't really know what I want to do. Or what I wanted to do. Probably something physical. I don't get out much, but I
am strong. When I was younger, much younger, I had this idea of exploring the jungles. There was this magazine, especially, that my mother had. It had this art for Equestrian Jungle Tours. On river and littoral boats. It fascinated me. My mother told me once that I was born somewhere far away. Zebrica, it must have been. And I think I have vague memories of the hull of a ship, of grassland with a few trees. Of a coastline. But I don't know if I am remembering what I saw, or things I saw in magazines, on posters, or in those couple times my father would take me to see a motion picture. Not films, but short reels. I don't know if I believe my mother. She would lie to me sometimes. I think that is why I never asked her what happened to father.
I can only be sure I have ever left Baltimare twice. Both times were just to properties just west and south of the city, and both times as an adult. This city is my home. The only one I have ever known. I do not know what I want in a career, or if I wanted a career at all. I suppose what I want is what I think my mother and father wanted when they came. They want to live like the ponies do. But that has not happened. I am not sure it can happen."
>>128703"Huh...I was not aware that we lived any differently from other species. How is it we live like?"
>>128704"You know. Friendship. Not tearing each other apart in competition. Things like that."
He makes a motion with his right forepaw, as if it somehow helped to illustrate, or to wave away any confusion
>>128705Silver looks around at everyone at the table.
"Like we are all doing now?"
>>128707He smiles at Mala.
"I do not think it is impossible for us all to get along."
>>128708https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sONfxPCTU0If Silver ordered (Did he order?) Food arrives
Mala did not request anything. Jubilosa sees her meat, smiles, and immediately pecks at it
>>128709Yeah, he ordered a porkchop, which he immediately starts eating.
>>128710Both Mala and Jubilosa stare at the sight with wide-eyed fascination.
>>128711After a couple bites, Silver looks at them, mouth full of meat and a fork and knife in his telekinetic grip. He swallows in order to talk.
"...what?"
>>128712Jubilosa:
"I heard you order porkchops. But I did not believe it"
>>128713It takes him a second for his brain to catch up.
"...Oh! Right! Well, if I may be honest...I might have developed
little bit of taste for meat over my life...just little."
>>128714Jubilosa continues to stare in bizarre fascination. Mala does the same with an ever growing smile on his face
>>128715After another second, Silver shurgs and returns to his porkchop. Judging from the look on his face and the quiet "mm mhm hmm" he lets out, he's apparently enjoying the slab of pig flesh in front of him.
>>128716The pork is well cooked, certainly more thoroughly than Silver probably could have expected from a comparable set of beef. It does taste good, though.
As Silver is very hungry from a very,
very intense last 24 hours, it's welcome
>>128717He swallows his bite, and points his fork down at the meat.
"I tell you, it feels like I have not had anything to eat in forever."
>>128718Mala:
"I know the feel..."
Jubilosa has resumed eating her mutton. She picks it up with her talons, and rips it with her beak, then swallows
>>128719Silver looks at Mala.
"I know you said you were not hungry, but would you like to try bite of porkchop? It is really good!"
>>128720He pauses for a moment, then pulls the plate forward, and then places his head down to bite off a set of meat. Unlike Silver, but like Jubilosa, he seems to lack the ability to chew to any significant degree.
>>128722"More cooked than I am used to. I remember my mother would buy this. Um.... Can I get something?"
>>128723Silver smiles and nods to him.
"Of course, what is it you want?"
>>128724"Um..."
He looks down at the menu
"Beef, maybe? I don't know. I haven't been able to choose many times..."
>>128725"That sounds like good choice."
Silver attempts to flag down a waiter to order his friend some beef.
>>128726Mala wags his tail briefly, and asks for beef. There is a moment when the waiter does not know precisely which kind of beef, and Mala settles upon some kind of roast beef. And a steak. He orders both, if Silver accepts
"Ooh! Do you have Octopus?"
>>128728I see that there is an important fact omitted: the "Octopus" question came from Jubilosa
She responds
"You can eat Pork? But yes. It was done sometimes in Sicameon"
>>128729I know, it was pretty easy to figure out."Fair enough, I have just never heard of octopus as food. If they have it, let us get it."
>>128730Without losing her smile
"Octopus!" she tells the Waiter
"Fair style, if you can"
>>128731Silver looks to Jubilosa.
"If I may ask, what is it you want to do as career?"
>>128732This seems to catch her by surprise, almost
"Well, I flew and delivered milk before. Then I was a typist for a shipping company for two years. I suppose, more typist work."
>>128733"I will admit, I am not familiar with what typist does."
>>128734"Well, most of it was recording handwritten documents and record keeping. I wrote up letters as well a few times, but that's more like a secretary"
>>128735Silver taps his chin, and looks at Jubilosa.
"Do you like writing?"
>>128736"Typing can be fun. Almost relaxing. Even if it can be tedious or monotonous at times."
>>128737"Have you ever thought of becoming writer?"
>>128738She is blank again
"It is quite a different thing... to go from typing what others have claw-written, to being a writer. Sure, taking liberties in writing letters was fun when I could do it, but... that's quite a different thing"
>>128739"I do not know, maybe you have some artistic talent behind you, and you just do not know it."
>>128740She looks at him, and blinks a couple times
"I did... kind of like poetry when I was younger..."
>>128741Silver smiles at her.
"I think I would like to see poetry from you, sometime."
>>128742She has an embarrassed smile
"I... don't know if I want to show that"
>>128743His smile gets a little brighter.
"Are you sure you do not? I really would like to see some. If they are anything like griffon who made them, they will be quite beautiful."
>>128744Mala, of all creatures, joins in
"Let's hear it"
She looks around
"I... don't have the poems I made as a girl with me. They were... bad..."
>>128745"Do you remember any you can tell us?"
>>128746"It's all in a different language. You wouldn't get it"
She still has the embarrassed smile
>>128747The pony lets out a small giggle, and hugs the griffon.
>>128748The unicorn pony hugs the griffin, whose wings expand in part.
As if granting Jubilosa a reprieve from questions about her preteen poetry, the plates of food arrive. Roast Beef, a Steak, and a plate of more than one mauve colored octopus.
They are still slightly moving >>128749The pony looks over from the griffon he's hugging to the octopi, getting visibly startled by the movement.
>>128750The good news is that the octopi are actually rather small in size, and they aren't particularly active. But they are still moving. Jubilosa looks over herself
"... In my country, they were boiled first, and server with onions"
Mala sniffs the steak, puts up the nails of his paw to hold the steak down, and rips part off with his mouth.
>>128751Silver picks one of the wriggly things up.
"So, how do you, uh...eat them?"
>>128752"... Uh... They were supposed to have their arms cut off, and you can rip or swallow the arms. These ones are smaller, and not boiled"
>>128754"Well...how do you propose we go about this?"
>>128755They came accompanied by seeds and oil, looks like sesame seeds.
"Uh... I guess the arms would be seperated?"
Mala, who stopped after eating half of his steak to eat some of the roast beef, moves his head over to the octopi. His snout comes close, sniffing them, but suddenly pulls away when one of them moves. Staring at it, he then lunges down and bites the head of the creature, pulling it away with fairly long tentacles. It starts writhing as best it can, and Mala squishes it in his mouth, trying to throw it up and re-position it. Then he tilts his head up, and evidently starts to swallow it. It falls into his mouth, with some tentacles still moving around, inclduing one that attempts to latch onto the side of his face, but fails. He moves his head up, swallows again, then again, and for a moment seems as if he may choke. But the thing slinks down, until there are only a few tentacles remaining, letting him breath. He swallows these down, licks his lips, and then places his muzzle down in the roast beef
"...That's one way to do it"
>>128756Silver does
not look like he was prepared for this.
"...maybe it needs to be killed, first?"
>>128757"... Maybe."
She smiles at him
"You can enjoy Khoi's cooking instead, if you'd rather. Or maybe ask Mala for some of his food. Or you can try the mutton"
>>128758Silver takes a deep breath in, and puts on his bravest face.
"N-no, I am fine. How about you?"
>>128759https://youtu.be/hmqyfQv3EXc?t=63She smiles back, awkwardly
"I'm fine"
What Mala did didn't seem exactly safe when
he did it, and a pony....
>>128760Press F to pay respectsSilver grabs a knife, whispers "Sorry about this..." to an octopus, and tries to kill it.
>>128762Hmm...okay, new plan, he cuts a small portion of the tentacle off from the rest, dips it in the oil, and eats it.
>>128763It's slightly bland - something the sesame oil helps with - and a little chewy. Tastes more like chicken than fish - if Silver knows what either of those taste like. Silver notes that the suckers on the tentacles have
some power left, making choking on them not impossible.
>>128764He tries to be as careful as possible to avoid choking as he looks at Jubilosa.
"It's fine...good even! See?"
>>128765"Uh... sure. I can try it this way."
Jubilosa picks up one with the fork, not quite wanting to stab it, and rubs it in the oil. She lifts it up, looking a bit... perhaps not quite "disgusted," but certainly intimidated by the creature. She places the head in her mouth, and lets it stay there for a moment. Then, she moves her head up, to let it come further in, and moves her tongue around.it, and sits there for another moment, before tilting her head up, pressing it forward, and letting the octopus slide down her throat in an almost even motion, stopping once and being swallowed again as the tentacles wiggle before going down.
From Silver's perspective, it looks like she just managed to do what Mala did with greater ease and more grace. But you'd never know from her facial expressions, as she has a mixture of fear and disgust, ultimately looking as she did after swallowing the hard alcohol the night before
"Yeah... heheh. Not bad"
>>128766Silver stares at her during her achievement, blushing a light red across his cheeks.
"W-woah..."
He comes to, shaking his head clear.
"Uh, I-I mean...this is certainly interesting...meal. Tastes little like poultry or fish."
>>128767She blushes to him. Or at least she would, if her face were not covered in feathers.
"Y-yeah. It's it's own thing, sort of"
She tries to cut off the tentacle of another one, to eat it the way Silver does
>>128768Silver has another, himself, slowly getting used to it.
>>128769There are only four Octopi... Octopuses in total, with Silver and Jubilosa each now cutting and eating one. Jubilosa can't quite chew, but she does seem to try to savor it, dipping more into the sesame. They are still reasonably large, with the feats achieved by Mala and Jubilosa only possibly because of how squishy, wet, and slippery the creatures are
>>128770Silver swallows the bite he was savoring, and looks to Jubilosa.
"So, griffons in Sicameon fished for these regularly?"
>>128771She looks back up to him, now secure in this way of eating live octopus
"Somewhat regularly. Fish and squid were more common but yes."
>>128772Silver, too, has become more confident with this way of eating octopus.
"I take it fishing made up most of food for Sicameon?"
>>128773"Fish was a major source, yes, but it was hardly the only source. We grew rice, we had potato, wheat, and even maize. We had fields of peppers and tomatoes, and sugarcane in the south. We would eat our sheep when they grew too old to fleece, and our milk cows"
>>128774"Huh. We did not have lot of variety in Severyana when it came to food. We mostly grew wheat, barley, sorgum, as well as vegetables like cabbage and lettuce. We also had mushrooms, cows for milk, and chickens for eggs. We also fished little, particularly in winter when we could not grow anything."
>>128775"Fished? She asks
Though he has no homeland to speak of, Mala joins in
"In the public schools they gave us bread and muffins. Sometimes hay burgers, which I could never eat. On the days they gave us bread or fruit, that was fine if mother had meat when we got home. But when it was hay or alfalfa instead, I would be hungry. Then mother sometimes only had potato. When she started declining, it was bad... I heard that after I left thy introduced special meals for all the griffins that included fish. That would have been so much better"
>>128776Silver looks over at Mala sympatheticly.
"That would be terrible to go through...I am glad you survived, though."
>>128777Jubilosa actually looks over at him sympathetically
"It was... not pleasant. Especially when mother refused to leave the house sometimes for days. There was no place like this to go to. Not that I could have afforded it anyways. Then after I left school..... it was not pleasant"
>>128778Silver lowers his head to him.
"I promise you, Mala, as long as it is within my power, that will not happen again."
>>128779He lowers his head slightly as well, as his ears fall back
"Thanks... I think you may be the first pony to actually accept it. Accept me, I mean. You and that pony that dyed his fur to look like a Zebra. Dark Star. Every other pony or zebra I have come across was always uncomfortable with carnivorism. They wouldn't say it outloud. At least most of them wouldn't. Some would say it was monstrous and scream in horror. But most would grit their teeth and walk away, or show disgust. Maybe they could sit across in uncomfortable silence. It was unnerving, or disgusting, or just something they would rather not be around. They would try to make me just eat something else instead. I think maybe the ponies think that anything that eats meat could eat them. Or maybe its that they think its mean to the animals or something, and they want to take care of the animals. I don't know. Even ponies who were nicer to me always had a kind of aversion to it. Like Boek, He would smile, but say "I don't want to be around when it happens" and leave the room. Or the Zebra, who judged us for it. But seeing you eat meat here.... and especially how nice you were last night... it's different. Very different from anything I have experienced with ponies before."
>>128780Silver looks up at him, and smiles.
"I am glad I could be there for you. And I suppose I am glad my taste for meat has finally helped someone."
>>128781Silver;s taste for meat sure hasn't helped these octopuses, or the pig, or his coin pouch when the bill comes
Mala smiles back to him, contended and satisfied from the meal. He has a fairly distended belly, although most likely, little of that comes from what he's eaten here.
I know that Changelings have German corollary equipment, Equestria has American corollary equipment and Stalliongrad has Soviet corollary equipment. I'm doing research into what heavy weapons we could introduce to the game-world and I want to know what's the corollary of New Mareland.
Also, would the Changelings be using captured Olenian equipment like irl Germans did and if so what would be the corollary of Olenia? I'm guessing it's the UK for New Mareland and Czechoslovakia for Olenia
For what it's worth, the dish that Jubilosa
thought she was ordering was a (Spanish) Galician dish known as "Polbo á feira," boiled octopus. This translates from Galician to English as "fair-style octopuus," hence why she added "fair-style" when describing the order.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polbo_%C3%A1_feiraThe dish that Jubilosa
actually got is a Korean dish called San-nakji, where log-arm octopus (a much smaller species than the more commonly eaten Giant Octopus) is cut into pieces and served raw, while the tentacles are still squirming. Swallowing the octopus whole is also possible.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San-nakji>>128784I looked up whether horses could eat peanuts, and found that they generally shouldn't be fed peanuts because they are high in protein and will cause the digestive system to "overheat." In any case I think we can assume that the ponies of My Little Pony have degenerated digestive systems that can handle the high-carbohydrate-low-fiber diets we see in the show.>Griffin nounsI tried looking up whether there were any terms specific to griffins, general to avians, or general to cats, and I found basically nothing except "Tom" for a male cat and "chick" for an infant bird. I suppose "fledgling" could apply.>Sapient invertebrateMaybe, but I think at some point the carnivores are going to say "I don't care, I'm hungry" and disregard some intelligent animals>RollI would definitely have asked for a roll if he attempted to swallow it whole>>128787I don't think the American equipment set is used anywhere by any faction in EAW. The Griffin Empire might be czech, but their language is German, their historical parallel is the Hapsburg Empire, and so the one time an Imperial weapon has been seen, I used an Austrian weapon. As for the Riverlands, Lake City is Serbian and uses Japanese weapons, the River Republic is Croation, Deoponya looks like fantasy England, Wittenburg is kind of French, Nimbusia is Greek, I have no idea what Bakara is, and Ponadeihm is "celtic.">>128795Oh Wirraway of the Lake, what is your wisdom?
