Welcome back to the Latest Thread of Occupied Equestria

Onyx, Spark and Brie settle down for the night in a cabin in the woods along with a set of recently rescued ponies, saved from Changeling cocoons, as well as the changelings who sought to take them captive, who are themselves locked away as captives.

In Baltimare, Silver, Dark Star, Iron, and now Midnight Lily do their last preparations before seeking to take on a creature smuggling operation in a port-side neighborhood

Only Rose, thus far, seems to have fallen asleep. Dawson briefly gets up to go to the fire, slowly limping to the fireplace, and tossing in a few pieces of wood. Red Wine has placed himself on the couch and is lying down, while Ruby is trying to make a space for himself in what parts of the couch are not claimed by Red Wine. The two little changeling Nymphs watch Dawson approach their general area cautiously

Ascertaining the precise location of any entrances from beyond the waterline is not really possible. But finding the waterline itself is not terrible difficult. The waterline something around 50 yards from the set of buildings, past grass, dormant trees, and a small area enclosed by a low stone wall that seems to be a graveyard or something to that effect, and the stone remnants of what was probably a garden, there is a simple seawall along most of the sea side, and some areas where rocks meet the ocean harbor

The shoreline is more straight than not, although areas where the land contacts the water in naked rocks show more fluid and natural changes. However, the area that is just opposite of the center and dormitory buildings has seawall, which seems to be very old black stone, with some areas on the top replaced with concrete.

Along the seawall there is a small area of level stone that effectively makes a walkway parallel to the top of the seawall, about at the level of the water at high tides (which is now). Where the seawall begins on the side the two ponies approach, there is a small stone step of beige that walks down to this little walkway by the sea.

Now here is where things are interesting. There is a small boat - white, a row boat. It looks like it could be a life boat or a small rowing fishing boat - by the walk way. There are several creatures in it, and several creatures standing on the walkway. A couple griffins and a couple.... well, a couple creatures neither has ever seen before, and we can leave it at that. Inside the boat are something like five creatures and one sitting up. They have no lighting with them.

As for an entrance, it appears that there is a very large one. It's a tunnel that approximates a storm drain, with a circular entrance and massive bars blocking the entrance. It is fairly high in the water, being about 1/4 submerged, and would probably be completely above water at low tide. It doesn't quite make sense as a storm drain, partly because an entirely seperate storm drain exit is vissible much further down past the seawall, and it has a much smaller exit tube. The tunnel is at least tall enough for a pony to walk through, and likely is an older part of the structure that had some purpose back in the days that this was a fortress or military prison, but has since been barred up, and otherwise appears to be an over sized storm drain or sewage pipe

When Silver said he was going to scout out the church, I did it believing that with four ponies at the warehouse, three of which being adept at stealth, they could handle anything that would come their way while he was gone. He would've seen that there was a griffon that looks like a leader of sorts and reported it back to the others. I honestly had no intention of so thoroughly spliting up the party like he accidentally did and ruining everything like he usually does.

I honest to god thought Skies would take her own initiative and follow Dark Star and Silver when she saw they were leaving, or else would say something to try to convince us to stay if she thought there was some sort of lead they could use. I am so, so sorry we left her behind.

Midnight and Iron stay in that room as long as they chose to, and this is true whether they stay another minute or they stay until the morning light. No one comes for them, no one stumbles upon them. No replacement maintence guy nor curious small patrol comes to them before the day shift. Where are the rest of them? Where is the remainder of security? Surely these must exist, somewhere. Yet they do not make an appearance in that room.

Do they all have something better to do this night than check out why the heat is down, or why their lazy maintenance worker hasn’t fixed the problem yet? Are they perhaps not even inside of the building at all? The answers to these questions are not found inside of the dark, increasingly cold, brick room.

Maybe they’ll send a team to kill them in the morning. Hell, maybe they’ll even send police. But for now, it’s a place they can basically rest and fall asleep... whether they awake with slit throats is another matter

It wasn't my intention. Like I said, I went with what Skies approved and expected others to follow suit. When they didn't, no one really wanted to stop him, so he just... went, like Skies with the gryphon at the church.
As for noise, he's focused on strength, not stealth. he's not a rogue, so he has to improvise with the tools he has.
As for the flashlight... I suppose it's dumb thoughts of being sneaky on my part, as well as believeing they wouldn't trap somewhere the maintenance crew could easily stumble into accidentally. If they indeed stumbled into a gryphon, at least they'd both be at melee range, where I'm sure Iron would survive with ease against one shotgun shell due to HP and take him out with Midnight.

Not sure what else to say aside from a simple sorry which may not even partially mend this wound.

As for the answers to your questions:

I actually thought of finding the pony named Sweet and asking those questions, but as I was typing Dark Star decided to wordlessly leave the church, and since he was the leader, I followed.

I didn't really think of using a knife on the window, nor did I think it could be done. As for the door lock, I completely missing the "buckling" part of the description, so I just assumed it was locked and that was that.

Every step is a sort of mystery. Every decision seems meaningful and every encounter is tense... well, maybe not to the killing machine. It is in no way stale. Hm...
While I assume some like the worldbuilding you propose, perhaps you could try a lighter variation. Reduce said descriptions to about 4 pieces of information maximum.
Pacing is... complicated, and mostly not your fault. Rather is some players having sporadic times available to play.
I had almost no expectations aside from rolling dice and beating stuff up, tbh.
Story seemed unimportant overall, unless you meant worldbuilding, which in that case is above-average, and probably never-ending unless the PC dies.
Mystery is there, but I probably failed to pick it up for this mission, but I did have this sense of exploring a new world with the temple jig.
Combat is... unsure. Not sure if it can be unstaled and less repetitive, to be fair. Only way you could spice that up is by allowing some extra books, but it's overall unnecessary as long as the fights are somewhat short, spanning 4-7 rounds at most.
I don't mind difficulty. It's well balanced.
Tension in this particular mission no, but there definitely is overall.
I think I'm doing well with advancing the action, but perhaps I read the briefing wrong. Physical evidence and guards should be good food for the Black Hooves to stop this or take advantage of the mean griffs.

>Are the descriptions overly long, are they at all interesting? Is there too much of that?
I wouldn't say so. I personally enjoy the lore and backstory they give and find them interesting, even if I don't always explicitly say so. The issue I see is that sometimes the information necessary for the upcoming mission is sidelined for the lore, so I would watch out for that. My suggestion when it comes to missions would be to get the basics out of the way first, then divulge further into the lore.

>Is the pacing still awful?
It may take a hundred or so sessions to advance a single day, but with how frequent things come up, it doesn't feel terrible. Perhaps if this were a more traditional adventure campaign then the current pacing would be an issue, but outside of the Bales group there hasn't been much of an opportunity for anything like that. I also only have experience with this campaign, so I only have this one to compare itself to, but it doesn't feel bad. It might be an issue later if we get into a longer-term story arc or mission, so we might have to revisit pacing once it comes up.

>What are you expecting?
To have fun? I didn't come into this game with many other expectations, and it's been met so far.

>How do you think the story will go?
I have no idea. The most definate story arc for the campaign I've seen so far is that the Elements of Harmony need to be united with new Bearers to prevent the second coming of the Windigoes and throwing Equus into an age of cold and death. The upcoming Second Great War is another story arc, but seems to be a little abstract at the moment.

>Is there any mystery?
I am absolutely terrible at mysteries, so I'm not certain I'd be able to answer that.

>Is the combat stale and repetitive? Too easy?
Not at all, though I've only been in a couple combat encounters so far. I'm sorry again about splitting up the party and making it so you can't fully test the party's might against full encounters.

>Is there any tension?
There has been, be it moments where I wasn't sure if someone would succeed, fail, or die. In this particular instance, we haven't been in a tense situation yet, but I feel it'll be coming up.

>Do you feel like you have meaningful choices in advancing the action?
Honestly, usually not, though I'm more familar with those kinds of linear stories than I am open-ended ones. I'm not opposed to either, it's just what I've noticed so far.

That’s really not encouraging, but I appreciate the honesty

I don't even know why i writting this but whatever. It feels like empty promises when I ain't have nothing too show for it.

Anyway, I'm getting the hang of this chracter creator thing. Things are starting to finalize themselves so now you know. I just wanted to sa that I probably will be done soonish.
Yeah, pointless update is pointless.

It's not really pointless. It's nice to know when new players are getting close to being ready. It means we can all more easily plan for it.

Cat is happy and sits at chair. It looks expectantly at you, plate next to him, as if it awaits something in return.

Cat is surprised of the new visitor.
It looks dumbfounded at the quadruped with clothing and its wounds.
It doesn't know what it can do aside from stare.
