Why would demons be repelled by bells? Church bells maybe just because it means faithful people are gathering, but why other bells?

I used to live in a house that was built in the 1920s when I was an early teen till I graduated highschool. I saw some shit in there and so did my parents
Ive also had weird premonitions in the past.
There was.... the hallway runner, the whipsering and the black mass
My bedroom was halfway down a hallway that connected our foyer to the rear bathroom and my door did not have a doorknob, just a hole
I saw and heard something run down that hallway while I was on my computer, like a quick jog and a white flash past my door. My parents said theyve heard it too, running down that hallway in the night and stopping at their bedroom door
The whispering was nearly every day, Id wake up in my bed and I could hear someone whispering right at my ear, as if they were inches away. As soon as consciousness returned it would stop. It was like hearing maybe the last syllable or two of someone talking.
The black mass was the WORST. My dad and his brother have mentioned seeing a black cat in the basement and my dad personally saw something black exit up from the basement and go down the hallway that my room is on, but Ive seen it in person.
I was doing my usual at the computer and I felt an exhale of breath right at the back of my neck, and when I turned around I saw out of the corner of my eye a like.... the tail end of a whispy black tendril that was hovering behind my head connected to a writhing mass of what looked like black smoke mixed with hair in a ceiling corner of my room.
The worst part of living in that room was the near constant feeling of being watched, it was constant and unrelenting whenever I was in my bedroom
The last bit, I used to get really weird premonitions of things. Nothing controllable they just would come. Like having a feeling a car wreck will happen in a spot while being driven or just knowing a building will burn down and then the next day it did.
