5 seconds is pretty good, it takes practice. Rhetorical, but what disrupts your not-thoughts when you're doing it?
The thing is, the same thoughts that are useful and viable in thinking moments are the thoughts that disrupt not-thinking moments, typically at least. This is the crux of finding which type of meditation works for you or (often more importantly) what you hope to gain/achieve by way of meditation.

So I feel I shouldn't be restricted to one language all my life and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the ability to speak a different tongue to not only understand a new language but to also learn more about my own language as well. I've decided to learn Spanish since
>as an American its never a bad idea to know what the brown hordes are saying about you with you knowing
> Its the second most spoken language in the world, thus increasing the amount of people you can communicate with tenfold
> Its one of the easiest languages to learn if you are an english speaker from what I hear
> Its the language spoken by based as fuck Spaniards (back in the day they were based anyways, not so much today) who slaughtered muslim moors and conquered half of the new world for God, Glory, and Gold.

But how do I learn a second language? I did take a few Spanish classes in high school so I'm slightly familiar with it but whats the best way to learn? I hear things like rosetta stone barely does shit and the best way is to speak with a Spanish speaker however I have no contacts. I know playing vidya and reading media in Spanish will help me become familiar with the vocabulary but I would still be clueless on how sentence structure and advanced sort of things like that would work. What do you recommend?

Also this thread doesn't have to be limited to Spanish and can be about how to learn any second language in general.

With all this 1984 shit going on I looked into the relation of speech and thought and lies to bolster my arguments and came to the conclusion that I should pick up my books again.

Anybody know any good sources?

So fag from post >>1015 here. I'm abandoning French. I don't know what it is but I have had the worst time with it. Maybe its because the pronunciation and there's all sorts of small shit to keep up that if you mess up, you risk making yourself look like an utter retard. Plus all the accents for letters trip me up alot with spelling, not to mention trying to remember that along with all the verb conjugations in tenses has been a mess for me.

>inb4 that's how romantic languages work

When I was learning Spanish in school, I had nowhere near as much difficulty with spelling, conjugation, and other stuff. Not to mention there is only one accent with spanish to keep up with which is a blessing for me.

So it leaves it to this. I have been looking at three languages I've been interested in and its this:
>Continuing learning Spanish
>Dutch
>Russian

Continuing Spanish is the most logical choice since I already am familiar with it though I'm still in beginner stages. Because of learning French , despite it being a failure, I am familiar with how conjugations work with Romantic languages so that should help alot. Dutch sounds funny but I have read how Dutch and English are very identical in alot of aspects making it easy for an English speaker to learn. Russian will be the hardest one to learn by far and the most time consuming but its the one I'm the most interested in and it looks cool as fuck. I haven't decided with what yet but if I pick one, I plan to stick with it and not bother with anything else so I must decide wisely.

If I were you I would learn a Slavic language like Polish, Czech or Russian.

I've been learning Polish for the past few weeks, and it's definitely a "What you see is what you get" type of language when it comes to pronunciation. So you'll really only have to worry about the conjugations and the accents, which are quite easy to get used to, but there are some exceptions. For instance to say 'You' in Polish, it's 'Ty', and the verb conjugation is for the most part 'sz'. But to say "you are" it's "ty jesteś". The 'ty' is usually optional too.

As you're most interested in Russian though, all the power to you.

Reminder to cook a hot breakfast in the morning. It's not too expensive, buying bulk bacon, eggs, & sausage is good because you can piece freeze the meat so little to none goes to waste, as well as giving you insentive to wake up early to a hot breakfast. Modern cereals are full of processed sugars and HFCS, not to mention all the soy in them.
>but i dont have time to cook breakfast
Wake up earlier, if you already wake up as early as you can, then use multiple pans and cook multiple things at the same time
>good idea! I'm gonna go down to the shop and buy some pancake shake and waffle batte-
BAD! Wayyy too much processed shit in those, if you're gonna make them for breakfast (i personally never got the appeal but each to their own) you should once again make a big batch of batter and piece freeze it.

I admit that I'm too weak for most of the challenges on their site's screenshots. For instance, there was something about diving a distance underwater and pulling a 10-pound weight back up; my breathing habits while diving have always been bad and I've relied on holding my nostrils shut just to pull off diving underwater without my nostrils flooding like the basic bitch I am. I've tried overcoming that habit, especially this past summer, but I still can't submerge myself headfirst without nearly choking through the nostrils, let alone opening my eyes and seeing with these godawful eyes of mine. I think that as nice as this site is, it'll take a lot of work for me just to reach baseline 'strenuousness.'

I'll see about joining after I've lost another 15-25 pounds. This site does look great, I just think I'm too much of a soyboy to really get anything out of it. Plus I'd probably manage to fail that 12-week bootcamp.

How to relax?
I have the hunch that I really need relaxation.

Everything I do has something like a goal.
More sports, more reading, more learning, cook better food, eat slower for digestion, go for a walk because you need some daily excercise and you did sports yesterday and need some rest.
More better faster more and even relaxation is like something I have to do to a certain extend in a certain amount of time.
Even when I do something like watch a movie I study acting, writing, culture…

I am pretty sure that I am so stressed that I don't get anything done.

I have to do more in less time under harder cirmumstances than everybody else and if I get second place I get last place.
I gotta get burn-out and still deliver at least twice as much as the nr. 1 not only in the current time but in the entirety of human existance.

I can't sleep because of all the stress and when I fall asleepp it is through exhaustion which is a sign of weakness.

I had a thought today. I always thnk that it is a shame that we have to deal with the way things are insteat of what things could be like and I started to apply that thought to myself.
Normally I come here to try to become a somewhat decent human being, which means going from the bottom to the mid.
Today I had the very rare thought that I acutally might be not (always) as bad as I think.

Despite being overweigt I got an acceptablt body with an very good imune system and strenght.
Despite being a retard my IQ is his enough to get a masters degree.
Despite being socially inept I managed to make some good friends and get girls interested and become somewhat alpha in certain groups and even managed to shift some votes.
I can into arts and science and philosophy and crafts and IT and office and…

I am human waste but despite that I see the possibiblity to get something done.
What I am asking is how to unleash your potential?

14401 No.1134

>>1133
>What I am asking is how to unleash your potential?
That is a good question, and I am first to admit I don't think I know the answer. I know what I would have liked to have done. But I am not sure if it would have been the right way to go either. So take what I write with a good healthy dose of skepticism. Also sorry for rant.

I don't think unleashing your full potential always is necessary. I think it is more important to be content (or happy if you are lucky) with life.

Lets say you are going to have kids. The most important I think is that you have time for them after work. Don't chase after a job that will stress you out, or wear you out. Try to find something that you never have to bring home. And I think most importantly that it is a bit varied so you don't do the same thing day in and day out, and that it is work that you can say is done and complete at one point. As an example a house is complete at one point, a web-server will always need monitoring updates ad infinitum.
Sure a house needs maintenance but it is varied maintenance and seldom time critical (sure roof can become leak, but nothing a tarp or bucket can't temporary fix and give you some extra time). A web-server that is compromised needs to be fixed ASAP and you can't leave until it is fixed. But as a house-builder you will not get calls asking why the house needs a new layer of paint after 10 years. You might get a call on a web-server on why twitter feed don't show up anymore because twitter chose to change their API a year later.

Sure hard work and late nights building your own business can pay of in the long run and grant you much more that if you choose to just be a worker raising your kids. So it is also something to keep in mind. Lots of work in start for potential big gain or an steady pace to retirement.

>I realize I am just ranting the this point so I'll stop for now and try to think of something better to write

Ill just give some of my opinions on the things discussed to help resurrect the site.
>boots/footwear
Find what works for you. I rock shitty boots issued from basic training or my running shoes kek. Most guys hate the boots but they work for me and if im not going super far then I might just go with sneakers. In the past I would train my feet to be barefoot on runs and short hikes. Im gonna get back to doing this more. Tough feet are a really good asset, just gotta keep good footwear for cold or hot weather and sharp things or bugs. You can make your feet as tough as shoes.

>fires/cooking

Like previously stated many places do not allow fires. Ive been using a Coleman stove my brother got me for Christmas for when I cant make a fire. I love that thing. My father uses a military issue stove from the 70s still with no problems. Good equipment can last you forever. Another reason to have a stove is for when you are unable to start a fire due to environment and not just regulations. I learned this the hard way by going up a mountain under the rain the whole day. It was too damp to start a fire and got cold really fast. Thank god I had a tent and sleeping bag.

>water

I carry the little purification tablet you can buy at most cmaping stores in America. Idoine crystals are good to use too, not sure if they are sold as much anymore. I usually boil my water and purify it and I live in an area with pristine streams. If it is coming straight out of the mountain than I'll usually drink it as is.

I do remember really liking some of the darker aspects such as the story behind sexually tortured guards women (I forget their name). Also I recall liking the first few books a lot more than the rest, he did get rather preachy as it went on.

Wow, that got a continuation? Not to mention the fact it finally was completed. That's cool, tbh. Was a cute story.

How do you deal with bad sunburns? I went for a morning jog for the first time in my life and I got sunburned.

Pic unrelated.

Since I've lived in southern US my whole life, I'm no stranger to sunburn. Usually I just leave it be and deal with it but if it's bothering you, put some lotion on it. Not much else to tell you than just after awhile in the hot blazing sun, your body will adjust to it in time.

Aloe Vera is good for taking away some of the pain as well as make it heal a bit quicker. Lotion should work too. Should be at any Walgreens or a similar drugstore.

A bad sunburn in my mind is a 2nd degree burn with blisters. If you have them, don't use any creams as they can hinder the healing process.

Frontiersmen survive at all costs. They battle blistering heat and scathing blizzards. They conquer mountains and bogs. They not only survive, but thrive in all manner of the toughest conditions mother nature throws his way. This is the ideal body type we should strive for.

Mass bulk for the sake of photos is merely another case study in societal decay and decadence. Fitness is for a greater purpose. We are not made for fitness; fitness is made for us. We must learn to master ourselves for the pursuit of higher goals.

Fittest I have ever been was when I was working a physically demanding job and gradually gained muscle. Gains for purpose not presentation lads

To be honest, being massive must be quite a problem indeed when trying to survive.
Cardio is always important and being fit enough to lift yourself with one arm is also really useful.
Being giant for the sake of being giant is indeed not very useful outside of urban situations.

So I got fired from my job for running late due to my compulsive fapping knocking me out. Slept through three alarms.

There's nothing compulsive about it, you lost your job because you made poor choices, make better choices.

I know I made poor choices. I know from the get-go fapping is a bad choice. But I've tried everything from valerian pills to tea to warm milk to nyquil to sleeping masks and I still spend hours every night unable to sleep. Fapping's been the one thing that gets me to sleep, for three years. It is definitely a compulsion, and years of attempting to stop it hasn't helped one bit in that.

Masturbate… Faster. 15 minutes at most, you don't need a four-hour long fap-a-thon.

No clue why you think I'm fapping that long. I just get conked out post-orgasm is all.
