>>8826How it reminds me of the gospel is that Jesus spoke the same message. In Luke 13 for example:
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
And in John 8, Jesus says:
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
I think Jesus is describing what Isaiah 1 promised, a way that our sins, despite being red as scarlet, can be made white as snow. But if we refuse and continue to rebel, our end is total destruction.
John 11 says:
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
As a general question to those reading, do you believe? Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He is the only way to get a clean record and pass judgement day. He lived without sinning and died as a perfect sacrifice to pay our debt, our punishment for sinning. God rose Him from the dead three days later as evidence. Believing in Jesus is the only way to have eternal life.
And how the gospel ties into wisdom, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
So we have to put aside earthly/manmade wisdom to hold to the gospel. We have to acknowledge that our strength is not enough on our own. We can't act good enough to pass judgement day ourselves, because all of us have chosen to sin, and the Bible says that the wages of sin is death.
As Isaiah 64 says:
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
And Isaiah 45:
24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
Our boasting, our claim to any righteousness and any strength, is only in the LORD. And all men will come before Jesus one day for judgement. Those who hated Him will be ashamed.
As Proverbs says again, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom"
So we should repent and believe in Jesus, because the kingdom of heaven is near! He said believe in Him to have eternal life. Repent from sin and start practicing righteousness like the prophets and Jesus said to do.
If you do believe, Jesus said we ought to not spend our lives for earthly pursuits, because they don't last. He said seek the kingdom first and the Father's righteousness, and all the physical needs will be added to you. No need to work a job and figure out finances, just go out and do the work, go out and preach the gospel everywhere, to all creation like He said, and He will take care of the food and clothing and other needs. He said that when He returns, He brings a reward for every man's labor.
As Proverbs also says, "he who wins souls is wise"
And "Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured."
So serve the Master, serve Jesus only. He said we cannot serve both God and wealth. Serve Jesus only, and win souls. Preach the gospel everywhere even when they persecute you, insult you, exclude you, and make up evil about you. Jesus said this stores up rewards and treasure in heaven for us, and imo it benefits God the most. Is this not the fulfillment of "love God with all your heart"? God does not want anyone to perish, but that we would all repent and believe in His Son, Jesus Christ
