Why do the worst "Adults" in our society become teachers?
Every adult has a "I was forced to deal with an incompetent/abusive/egomaniac teacher" story unless they were homeschooled or they blocked the memories from their minds.
Its probably a Power/Control thing for them.
Teacher is a very low-paying job. Because of that, people who would otherwise make good teachers end of going to other professions.

In America educators are well paid and have generous perks and retirement. So many Jews can't be mistaken.
Maybe professors are well payed, but the average salary for American teachers pays far less than other professions, with teachers in only a couple places getting payed more than 50k a year. Teachers in DC get payed the most of them with an average salary of 55k, while teachers in Montana make the least with only 31k. In addition, teachers have demanding work hours that require them to come in before school starts to ready their classrooms, and stay after school ends in order to put everything away, and this isn't even including regular faculty meetings that mean they often need to come in earlier or stay later than usual. Combined with how much time at home they need to spend grading papers and preparing assignments, and how they have do deal with hundreds of lil' shids every schoolday, and it is not a profession I envy.
Pretty much this. The only truly great teachers I had just genuinely cared about teaching the material and teaching it well regardless of the pay. They were genuinely amazing people and I have nothing but respect for them, but most other teachers I had were either off the fucking wall, incompetent, had a power fantasy, or some mix of the three. Professors, being paid much better will generally teach the material better (part of why I decided to take precalculus at the community college where I live during high school, the math teachers at my high school were horrible at their job and I'm going for an engineering degree.)
