>The Character Counter
The character counter in the quick reply window does not work. It remains constant at 6000. (Exhibit A)
The character counter in the top reply window works perfectly. (Exhibit B)
There's already another thread that made note of this issue >>1101… SEVEN MONTHS AGO.

When you stretch the top reply window to where it is bigger than the screen and then hit "Quick Reply", the quick reply window also stretches the same way as the Top Reply window, but the top is off the screen, so I can't close it out or move it. The bottom right corner can used to shrink the Quick Reply window, but the top remains off the screen and I have to reload the page to fix the quick reply window. (Exhibit C)

Granted, I can avoid this issue by shrinking the top reply window BEFORE I hit Quick Reply, but I'd prefer a more elegant solution, like making the Quick Reply window have a constant initial size instead of being affected by the size of the Top Reply Window.

>Removing selected files to upload

Potential newfag issue, but on 4chin, when I want to remove a selected file from the quick reply reply window, all I had to do was hold "Shift" and click on the "Browse…" button, and it removed the unwanted file. Plus, when you hover over the "Browse…" button after a file has been selected, a pop-up box appears telling the user what must be done to remove the file. (Exhibit D)
I tried multiple systems with Mlpol.net (Shift+click, Alt+click, Ctrl+click), but the unwanted file(s) do(es)n't go away and I have to reload the page and start the uploading files cycle again.

Anons, feel free to pipe in with other issues you've had with the Quick Reply window or any reply UI.

Now if we can be able to remove selected files like Exhibit D in OP

MLPOL Anon is Orange.

I suggest that we change the color from the namefield and the greentext to orange as well.

I'm just a lone humble anon doing things just because

Is now the default, I blame admin abuse. shame, shame. :P

Is how it should be, if you can't wait and are using the default Tomorrow or dark theme throw
.post-menu {
color: #000000;
into the custom CSS settings

This pic is Tomorrow theme with all my orange shit thrown on

Always appreciating getting input on things that should be fixed and improved.

Just happy to help

This last one for tonight is just for the search button at the top of the catalogue if people want it to be orange instead of purple
a, a:visited {
text-decoration: underline;
color: #DB7A22;

It seems to effect other things as well that were already made orange by something else I had done so I guess there is a conflict somewhere and I'm too tired to figure out which one is overwriting which right now and bed is calling me.
Shown from first to last is default, second is all my orange rice and last is all my orange rice but changing search to white which effects other elements a previous thing I had done/will effect on the default theme
Not sure if it hits anything else, it probably does. I'll play with it more tomorrow

I'll also try to make more comprehensive changes or observations as needed so I don't have to spam the thread over and over

Well one last thing

I went ahead and made an account on userstyles and threw my work on there if people would rather try out my orange shit that way instead of copying and pasting everything into the custom CSS box in options
Requires Stylish or something similar

Made on Firefox but tested it on Chrome real quick and it seems to work fine on there as well if that's the browser you use

I figured some people may be interested in this. This is a theme for Vichan (the software this board runs on) which gives it a pepe-ish / shadilay feel. Maybe one of the admins can add it in the CSS list?

A preview of the theme can be found in the OP image. If you'd like to give SHADILAY a try, you need to do the following:

1. Open your Options
2. Click user CSS
3. Paste the contents of this link https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenIB/OpenIB/1b06875ab90b9d77e8f7ddf0cd16ba15b2089270/stylesheets/shadilay.css into the box
4. Click "Update custom CSS"
5. You're done!

Credits to H0K4CH4N for the theme.

I can't seem to get this to work, also are there more custom CSS somewhere?

Something really made me think after I read it on one of the threads on /mlpol/. Some anon suggested we shrink the catalog size so I asked myself, why would we need to isn't it as big as it is on say most 4chan boards? So being the autist I am I went on 4chan and counted the catalog size of every board and this is what I found.
>All boards besides /pol/
11x14 minus locked Stickies which will very by board. So thats around 154 take removing around 2-10 for off topic or sticky threads at any given point. This goes for all boards besides /pol/ as far as I can tell, slow boards like /po/ and /3/ along with really fast boards like /tv/ and /b/ only have this many threads up at any given point.
No suprise /pol/ is now the fast board on all of 4chan so of course its going to have more threads up. Its an 11x18 plus the two additional stickies making it at just under 200 threads at any given time. However I'd say janitors and mods make it more around 190 at any given time because of how often threads get killed for offtopic/GR3 violation/ect. But add that with 6000 posts per hour and 100 new threads per hour and little to no one is surprised on why /pol/ is much larger.
>Where are we in all of this
We sit at 12x15 which is at 180 threads and due to how this board operates last I checked, we can recover dead threads if a raid happens or a thread is taken down by the mods meaning the only way for a thread to become completely inactive is if this locked out, like the glimmer thread currently is on /mlpol/. I would assume /vx/ is the same but by the looks of it, it has yet to reach the thread limit on its board because of how massive the threads on /vx/ can get. /sp/ as of now looks like its a 12x24 or something byzantine and huge.

So what I've gotten out of looking over all of this is I now agree with the anon saying we need to shrink the catalogue sizes of our boards. A 180 thread catalog on our main board is very large considering we;re no where near as big as /pol/ which is much closer to the catalog size we're trying to emulate. /sp/ is a monster in catalog size, I don't know how large it is at all but it also needs a huge cut in size. /vx/ looks alright for mostly because it hasn't hit over 120 threads on the main board. But overall I'd say cutting both /sp/ and /mlpol/'s catalog sizes down to 150-160 would be a way to keep content oPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

This has me a bit concerned, ponymoot. Thank goodness the software is open source.
Why is it you would need a configuration option to make user-posts get shadow deleted instead of deleted directly? Seems kinda privacy-invading imo. What's the need?

The original purpose was because of GET raiders. Specifically, when Monster tried to take the 77777 and failed, they deleted their thread as soon as they noticed they missed the target. We wanted to prevent that, so we installed that feature in case the sane was tried on the 88888. It defaults to turned off, and is in fact off on every board except for /vx/, where it is on for reasons pertaining to that board. All posts on mlpol, sp, and every other board except vx, that are deleted by the user are automatically permanently deleted.

Ah, alright!

Is there any issue with the current system?
I don't see any real reason to split-up board traffic right now.

I feel the same way

use /sp/
if it has to do with politics use /mlpol/
if its about learning to make it use /üb/

That's what /sp/ is supposed to be for, afaik.

You can't really get an idea how much satisfied people are in that thread. It seemed like a lot of them just wanted to argue, and that carried over into different threads. You could tell because the first parties were satisfied, including Nigel, while some others came into the thread completely new to the subject at hand & began making "odd points." More changes or dismissing the ruling by drawing extremes. The mistake was re-opening the thread.

Yeah, that lead to nothing. Results are the same. Basically no resolution, minus less fun is allowed now, which is not good at all. Maybe /sp/ option was the actual best one?

I was aware that the issue had to do with one poster vs. some others. The only issue after all seems to be the response to the implementation, otherwise it's a sound one for now.

I'll admit to getting on KB's case anytime he started ranting about Glimmerniggers, but as long as he's not doing that I don't mind accommodating him with the new measures. Its not an ideal situation, and it's not ban on site for Glimmer, but its an acceptable compromise desu.

4chan requires people to be janitors before ascending into moderation.
The janitor, as the name suggests, cleans the site, to do this he just moved threads around, im not sure if modern janitors are able to delete threads but they cannot ban users.

Anyone can apply for janitor and be removed whitout previous warning.
The requisites are quite basic, having some time on the board, know it's culture, rules, issues and having free time.

As a janitor should not be able to delete threads, just in case of something going wrong, a trash board could be used as means of removing bad threads.

Since this is mlpol and just one man should not have the power to censor content as he likes, a janitor should ask the community before taking action.
While it is true we are slow and feedback takes time, pre existing rules for janitors (like moving glimmer threads to a certain board) could take care of this problem, outside of that, it is pretty obvious that low effort, bait and shitpost threads should keep on /sp/ and not /mlpol/

I hope this is an acceptable suggestion.

The following is a slightly altered (to remove the names & change the flow of the conversation to be more orderly) transcript of a discussion with a staff member of this site on the specifics of a particular poster:
Q:Why don't you ban him?
"He has he VPNs :/"
"The fucker keeps using a damn VPN and phone posting and cafes"
"His IP keeps changing but stays English"
"The flag stays English but the hash changes"
Why don't you just keep on banning him?
"We do but he keeps coming back like the card he is"
How long are these bans?
"Idk [REDACTED] kinda keeps Nigel as a per project. The main ones are permanent"
"Speaking with the admin now to get more"
"He has been working on the Nigel situation"
"Apparently lotus says he is handling it :/"
"Idk much more than that apparently he pulled the perma bans things"
"That explains his dumb fucking comic being back"
Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Nope, I'm tired of everyone's bullshit. Everyone who baits and trolls will be banned. You don't need to bait him, because he'll get banned even if you don't. Be happy.

I apprectiate the gesture but your feelings should not impose influence on your code of ethics or enforcement of judgement. Here is a gesture of relaxation. Take it in and try to find your peace with it for now.

Can I post now? Well, if I can, please lock the Glimmer thread.

Which Glimmer thread? The one on mlpol? That one is already locked

It's been noted & discussed that the drawfags of the 2017 Winterball have been having difficulties due to mod tyranny, so this opens up an opportunity for us. Particularly we can offer a haven for content creation for them on our very similar site. We have done things like this before and we can do it again, there's even other perks for the content creators besides convenience such as less shitposts & no Malay. Here's what we do:
1.We send "diplomats" (in the silliest sense of the word I know) to propose sanctionary.
2.We strike a deal.
3.The bad posts on our present Winterball thread like the arguments are deleted.
4.The plan goes off with success with some proper monitoring.
My only concession is the third point, that was some really shitty posts that deserve proper clean up. After all this, our event hosting will be a spectacular one this year.

I'd like to mention that the place to talk to the content creator is on /pol/'s drawthreads.

File: 1510479839807.jpg (490.8 KB, 737x1025, __bismarck_kantai_collecti….jpg)

we discussed this in a minor way in the current Winterball thread and I am in favour of this prospect. Even if the Artist wont stay for long or wont make exclusive content for us, it will get positive publicity for our site out and we would have little to do for it. Dont really see a downside for it either.

Do we have people here who are in contact with the Winterball community? MLPOL Tan perhaps???

I know very little about the inner workings of the winterball stuff and I haven't been paying enough attention to know the situation on 4chan, but I'll bump this to draw attention to it.

Onto something productive, how about that Winterball? I remember the last, it was such a fucking riot. I was talking about it the other day with someone here while scouring the /pol/ drawthreads for /mlpol/ art.

fgsfds what is all this? First of all, it is up to the community to to reach out and help bring members to the board. Its the staffs job to maintain the board from going into a complete cancer fest, if the community feels it needs more numbers anons need to take the finger out, also even if the the staff does not make an attempt to -which some of you are implying- bring in new users. the community makes the content, the community generatd the OC, the community is what represents the board and this chan as a whole. without the communities backing, there is no board to represent. There is no excuse for anons to sit back and expect the board to work things out for itself.
you really need to fuck off newfag, fuck you and the horse you rode in.

This guy has a point, tbh..
If you want more content/traffic, asking the staff isn't the way to get it: do it yourself.

So recently, due to the latest Football tournament and the Winter Ball threads I assume, we seem to have a new insurgence of a small number of new users.

Regardless, i dont feel these threads accurately satisfy the level of attention it requires requires for the good of the community. I feel like talking with the same 4 people over and over again. No one feels responsible, no one has ideas, no one wants to take initiative and actually do something about it. Too much talk, not enough action.

The cart is stuck in the mud here and I think this needs to me moved elsewhere before our window of opportunity finnally closes for the site. The shitposting in the RPG thread and its 10 users wont keep this site afloat forever.

This is from scraping the home page at the same time each day and calculating the posts for 24 hours. Where the numbers were ridiculously high or negative I removed the data. It shows a fall until the change of the month, generally speaking.

Later I will make a script to scrape the statistics page for more reliability.

I'll admit, this idea is growing on me.

That is what I thought, but some moderators believe "it's shit, it belongs on /sp/"
I asked our developers to see how well mlpol.net works with Google translate. I am not certain of the results
I guess that is possible. Would this be a feature like bolding?
>That namefag
What. Uh, I guess pink text is possible?

but /sp/ is for football

How do I make text in bold?

Might it be possible to develop a feature where an anon can be filtered site-wide? Something comparable to the existing filters, except cued to (without revealing) a poster's IP?

Threadly reminder that MLPOL own archive in Golden Oaks is borderline useless. There are barely any threads there and some of them have 0 replies at all. this site is 7 months old and we have less than 20 archived threads. seriously???

/go/ needs an overhaul to make the archiving process more automatic and needs to be renamed to something that is clearly identifyable as an Archive board.

File: 1510076751026.jpg (52.43 KB, 1280x720, debating trash.jpg)

Examples of zero reply/Dublicate/shitpost threads that are currently part of the TWENTY archived threads in /go/ OUT OF ALL THE THREADS ON ALL BOARD THAT ARE AND HAVE BEEN ON ALL BOARDS SINCE APRIL.

current list of """archived threads""" in the temporary archive, which can be deleted at any point.

I am not going to lie. This is both organisation wise and in regards to userfriendlyness one of the worst archives I have ever seen. It would be preferable to not have an archive at all than this. This is trash.

Jesus newfag.
I suggest you take a look at the inline archive, https://mlpol.net/qa/archive/

This. Threads can't be archieved if they aren't dying. The good threads are being kept alive for months on end.

My account got banned and I've got a new one so if someone can give me an invite to the /mlpol/ discord that would be great.

I probably should clarify I wasn't banned from the server just banned from Discord.

Just post on /mlpol/

we had a thread on the main board concerning the now several /mlpol/ Discords and its clusters.

I cant offer any direct links, but perhaps it helps.

Here is a single use link. I do request that you post on the board and not become a discord Purist. The discord is a nice place and all but the board is far more fun.
