Drink your orange juice and get ready for the chaos /poner/'s first tulpa thread! Sound off, tulpafags, I'm curious about how many of you survived the move.

Briefing:
Tulpas are dedicated, self-aware imaginary friends, full personages with whom you cultivate a genuine, personal relationship over the course of a lifetime. We stole the secret of making your waifu real from /x/ (who learned it from 1900s occultists) and many embraced it early in /mlp/'s lifetime. It was a new frontier for us, exploring the unknown possibilities of the mind, leaving the safe walls of the zeitgeist, driven by the urge to connect with our waifus. The edgy, occult aesthetic led to much paranoid speculation, and tulpas became a favorite subject of creepypasta stories about becoming schizo. Since then, tulpamancy has evolved offboard into a fairly popular, sanitized framework for anybody to cultivate a relationship with their ideal inner partner. The boundary of possibility is still not quite clear - although they seem to mostly align with psychological "common sense" - and probably will never be; such is the reality of this sort of inner project.

Since tulpamancy in its modern form has only existed since it exploded on /mlp/, the oldest of oldfags here will have had pony tulpas for around 13-14 years at this point. Many anons bring their waifu into their life by reading stories, appreciating art, drawing on their waifu for inspiration, etc. - tulpafags do it by relating directly through imagination.

Post questions, callbacks, memes, tutorials, etc.

I've experienced a psychosis, and have been dealing with feelings of derealization ever since, so I'm never going to try it, but I've always found it quite interesting.

Yeah that's probably the right call. Personally, for someone without a history of that stuff, I think tulpamancy can be a sort of immunization against some psychological problems, because you're experimenting under your own control rather than having it forced on you, and develop confidence in your control and your sanity. I doubt psychosis and dp/dr fall under that category, but identity disorders definitely do, as well as anything that's exacerbated by depression (because tulpas really do help with that).
