Magic Control in Equestria?

A scene in “Equestria Games” suggests that unicorns (and likely alicorns by extension) needed to have their horns disabled (or at least limited) before entering the arena. Are there any other “magic control” laws that could or should exist in Equestria? (For example, does this horn disabling take place at airports, public office buildings, etc.? Do unicorns need to undergo background checks before casting spells? Is there a mandatory minimum sentencing law for horn-related offenses? Is there an organization, perhaps called the National Horn Association, that opposes these laws?)

Well, we also see in "The Crystal Empire" that there is "dark magic" that I think we can reasonably assume is banned. There are probably several areas of magic that are banned. There doesn't seem to be any kind of magical limitation that prevents these varieties of magic being used though.

We see Twilight using Sombra's dark magic, her using the "want it need it spell," and various compulsion spells used by Starlight Glimmer. These are definitely spells that ought to be banned, although there is no magical limitation stopping them from being used, nor are the characters punished for using it

The end of that episode did, however, demonstrate the need for a “good guy with a horn”.

Better yet.
Eliminate the arbitrary rules imposed on ponies by a tiny self rightful minority.

How about these perspectives?

Taking away the abilities of unicorns and alicorns to cast magic deprives them of their natural talents and their abilities to basically do anything, so they would be persecuted under these policies and so these policies would be racist. (Believe it or not, gun control legislation in the USA has a racist past to it as well and still has racism involved in its enforcement as well.)

The most recent terrorist attacks on Equestria involved magic theft and an inability to fight back, so it’s possible Equestria could have something equivalent to the Second Amendment post-finale.

Interesting. A point that I'd like to raise is that there are ways to beat checkpoints like this IRL, so how would a unicorn/alicorn be able to beat it there? Possibly manipulate the guards into ignoring them through illusions? Maybe just overwhelm the spell through a large enough discharge of magic? Any other ideas, feel free to add on.

The only way I’d imagine this being possible is if a pony is capable of manually overriding the disabling spell and breaking the seal, unless the disabling spell disables magic at its source, i.e. it disables the flow of energy from the mana pool to the horn or disables the formation of new magic energy and saps the existing magic out like Tirek did. (The latter one would be the most ideal, but likely isn’t what happens, as Rarity’s cutie mark remains intact throughout the clip.)

That being said, there would likely be some form of magic detection, similar to Sci-Twi’s amulet, in airports, etc. that would allow officials to monitor the rooms for magic use. There may be no way around it without looking suspicious.

>send a disposable magic Clone through the gate
>Substitution Spell to substitute yourself with your clone
>your clone pops himself, now that he's gotten you through the gate with intact magic
also
>four minute transformation spell on self, become an Earth Pony friend of yours while walking through the gate, then head to the bathrooms and change back. make sure it's a pony who won't attend these games and blow your disguise
the bullshit method
>wear an amulet of anti-magic negation hidden within a gaudy scarf
and the classic
>just teleport/portal past the obstacle

But Earth Ponies dont go through the anti magic barriers. Go ghost, Cappy capture applejack, walk her through the gates and pop out in the bathrooms.
or go ghost and fly in through the ceiling or floor.

Well the tired and true method of going through the exit not only works in reality, but also in cartoons! Along with pretending that your supposed to be there in the first place.

because doing that will work unless they have anti-ghost detectors
and why would they? I don't think Equestria even knows what a ghost is.

“Caught dead” seems as though it may be an American expression you’re unfamiliar with. If you’re hiding, but you get caught as though you are in the open and were never hiding at all, you were “caught dead”.

So if that expression were to be taken literally, would you be referring to magnetic wave detectors people use in documentaries when looking through haunted houses for ghosts?

>Implying that ghosts are a problem in Equestria and they would have detectors for that

I personally don’t see them doing it, so if Rarity were literally caught dead, she could possibly possess Applejack and make it through OK. The question would become how she’d get her body through, but at least she is making her journey in spirit... unless her death means the airline frees her seat.

It's only in a private property - stadium - which ponies agrees to enter in, because unicorns did and will abuse of magic to influence games.
Turns out magic also could have saved lives and since no one had any, makes them vulnerable.

Morality : Magic demagnetizing gates should be forbidden and only a faraday cage should be used to prevent unicorns to influence games or cheat or anyting.

just an idea.

So perhaps following the events of the S4 finale, the 2017 film, and/or the series finale, the magic gates could be uninstalled and the barrier could be more like the netting at a hockey rink.

Although I could easily imagine why they would outlaw magic control, not allowing for it would mean that enemies could easily be able to use magic to their whim and perhaps bring down planes or incinerate people in arenas. It is indeed apparent that no clear solution may exist for the issue.

So how come Twilight was able to get around the horn disabler? Sure, it took great effort to do so, but how come she could do it?
