How can we get more users on /mlpol/? I occasionally mention this place on 4chan and 8chan, but that doesn't seem to bring a lot of people here. So how can we get more people? IRL fliers? Advertise on forums from https://www.whoiswhite.com/
? What's your idea, Anon?
I like the flier idea, but I don't have any artistic skills.
Why not? Sure the site is comfy, but I would hate to see this place die out.
I'm much more concerned with quality then quantity. I'd say making and spreading content is the best way to attract anons who will actually contribute, whether it be memes, art (including lewd) or greentexts.
Oh fuck I used the wrong "than."
Quantity is important too. Remember lurkers can eventually become contributors.
Gotta agree with this tbqh, people will try to look for the source of good content and join us here. I think the big problem as well is turning out lurkers into posters, there are a lot more lurkers then you can imagine and I believe this is due to there not being topics they want to discuss not having threads on them. Most lurkers are also newfags and so are afraid of starting a thread as well in case they fuck up and get called out on their newfaggotry.
Well at least this isn't another "/mlpol/ is dying" thread
Can confirm. As a previous lurker now a namefag.
>Most lurkers are also newfags and so are afraid of starting a thread as well in case they fuck up and get called out on their newfaggotry.
That is also true.
Some lurkers are also content with how everything currently is. The problem is that posters that continue, can sometimes wear out. No new, or interesting things lead to stagnation.
>people will try to look for the source of good content and join us here.
Having lurkers become posters helps with that cycle.
I think one of the bigger unspoken problems here is that very few users (and lurkers) here actually fall into the /pol/ or /mlp/ camps.
Speaking for myself, I'm not particularly interested in the /pol/ aspect anymore as I feel it's gotten very stagnant since around about 2018 (there's only so many permutations of 'Jews' one can hear before eyes start to roll)
, and the /mlp/ in me is still hanging in there by a few threads, in spite of the cancer of S9. So really, all that leaves is the /g/ side of things for me.
That isn't helped by the other boards on site, which are either directionless at best or completely dead at worst. And even if I were to post in other boards about my particular interests, they would not only go unnoticed, but wouldn't generate that all too important engagement that I've come to like and cherish about this place. Don't say 'use the Overboard', because it's shit without a split or catalog view, and very few people use it.
In short, it's not just as >>233234
points out; there's little to no clarity on what belongs on /mlpol/, either. Double confusion. And personally, I like my effortposting to be as confusion-free as possible.
Personally I reckon if we banded together and got shit done and put Aryanne in Mugen it would be an epic achievement.
A nazi hoers would finally be playable in the mathematically ultimate fighting game.
I think the problem most people miss with activity on this site is what 4chan and 8chan has that we don't. Arguments. People who disagree. At least for me there's little to talk about because we all agree on most things, there's no one to argue with. Though one could argue having people to disagree with doesn't make a site like this good, 4/pol/ in particular is active, but I wouldn't call it good activity considering it's shills and shitposters who run the same routine every day.
On a side note, is it just me or does anyone else kind of just avoid going into the Garbage Can and Random News threads? I feel like I'd be more active if I refreshed the board and saw new threads with news on the front page instead of the same thread getting bumped. We're not exactly lacking for board space.
Garbage Can and Random News are the threads where I most often find something interesting posted and mostly end up posting in. The rest of the board is sadly pretty stale and I wouldn't want to make a thread just to see it get two replies and then die.
>>233269>People who disagree. At least for me there's little to talk about because we all agree on most things, there's no one to argue with.
You'd be surprised with how much disagreement there actually is around here, simmering below the surface. It's just that nobody wants to bring up any such disagreements.
I suspect that's because of some misplaced fear of rocking the boat (nobody cares), or the more real fear of appearing to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. In the latter case, nothing productive ever comes of such 'discussion'.>On a side note, is it just me or does anyone else kind of just avoid going into the Garbage Can and Random News threads?
You're definitely not the only one. There's really no reason either thread couldn't just be moved out into /sp/, with bigger events being crossposted to /mlpol/ proper. Threads on /sp/ don't even slide into the archive, so there's literally no excuse.
Well, maybe one. I suspect that's because flags and IDs lend themselves more to the sugar-sweet dopamine hit that is attention whoring. After all, who wouldn't want to be the big dick swinging 'top contributor' to a big ongoing thread, eh? There's a reason the filly threads turn IDs off.
>>233269>On a side note, is it just me or does anyone else kind of just avoid going into the Garbage Can and Random News threads? I feel like I'd be more active if I refreshed the board and saw new threads with news on the front page instead of the same thread getting bumped.
I agree with this. We need more threads on news topics
This was tried before. Board gets filled with news threads with single digit replies, if any. Also new threads require locating and uploading an image, the additional burden leads to less news posted. But feel free to do it.
/mlpol/ has hitched its wagon to 2 things that will continue to die out.
therefore it will remain niche and not expand.
This place moves slow, really slow and I admit, I don't visit here often. I am not sure why I don't visit here often, perhaps I am looking more of a balance between /Pol/ and /MLP/ but why do I not come here often then?
One of the biggest issues here is the lack of current events, news that breaks, and relevant threads to the politics that is in the news. /pol/ breaks news all the time and why I go there mostly because, even /mlp/ breaks the leaks and news regarding but /mlpol/ is barren.
Let's see what news broke recently? Garlic Festival Shooting, Some nigger bitch cries on facebook because a Cuban said that she was in the expresslane with 20+ items, Canadian spa gets shut down because of tranny, More Warmongering baffons wanting to fight with Iran and shoots down drone, riots in Purto Rico over governors "lel Homophobic and racist" remarks and the governor resigns.
Horse News:China Leaks a ton of episodes early. Brony Con around the corner, Several other Cons. Drama, Drama, Drama.
You've failed in your duties, anon!
Now tell me about the China leaks!
From Episode 14 to 20 was leaked, surprisingly in English by china. https://mega.nz/#F!TR8WGAIA!6Awwzka4IgmTUxUjFu1qaQ
Shockingly 21 and 22 were due to come out but never did. No one knows why.
/mlpol/ has hitched its wagon to 2 things that will continue to die out.>MLP>ethno-nationalism
I understand the first one because in some way depends of the show going, but the second can only grow more and more.
Would you mind to explain your mind?
G4 is still one of the best generations but surprisingly, why the fuck hasn't the first two at the very least created a cult following? I mean it still get's pop culture references in a show that is based in the 80's. Pic Related.
The show might die, and everyone knows Hasbro will go bankrupt, but the fans will still be here long after though I am sure many will move onto other things sadly.
Ethno-Nationalism, yeah I think Nationalism is making a strong come back but people really want Ethno Nationalism. One thing I learned in my life, from all my travels across the US, is that everyone HATES each other. Not just whites vs blacks, everyone! Chicago for example just with sports is divided between north and south, east and west, either you like the Bears or you like the Packers, either the Cubs or the Sox, either Hot Dogs or Deep Dish Pizza then you have the plebs that like Sub sadwhiches. For peat sake you may go "pff what nonsense" but they upright kill your ass if you are in the wrong part of town waving a hot dog shirt in pizzaville.
Go to Alabama and instead of NFL it is College football, because they are too good to play professional and it is Alabama state vs Auburn. (I am begining to see sports as being a big problem in the USA)I guess this is what the liberals keep pushing with "balkanization" more like tribalism.
If you were to have Ethno-Nationalism you have to first close the boarders then kick everyone else out. Kinda hard to have America, America when it is being invaded.
>>233295>Would you mind to explain your mind?
Democracy goes where the numbers are. Civic-nationalism can always get move numbers than Ethno-nationalism. The West will go civic- not ethno-
Isn't Civic Nationalism just Nationalism but who ever is left in the country stays? Isn't that the first step to Ethno-Nationalism anyway? Close the borders, put country first then when the borders are closed kick out all the impurities?
>>233303>The West will go civic- not ethno-
True, but only if the (((democratic))) game keeps going, and this is the current recipe for a bloodless White Genocide.
Ethno-Nationalism doesn't stand a chance without to apply force to get the needed separation from non-Whites.
>>233243>No new, or interesting things lead to stagnation.
But a new phenomena appeared in the last 2 weeks, the content generated everywhere in normal space went down 50%; it is not only this board. I have a RSS feed of around 200 right wing sites and I can tell it looks like many went on vacations or their regular content was sized down significantly. I have no idea what is going on.
NH summer. People are going to that gawd awful place called "outside".
>>233317>But a new phenomena appeared in the last 2 weeks, the content generated everywhere in normal space went down 50%
That's… a pretty big swing.
If content improves in a week, then it should be from vacations.
If content improves after the school season starts, then it's family life stuff.
Could also be people enjoying the outdoors…
Hell, it could be a vast magnitude of things.>>233334
Looks like a mostly normal power law distribution. Context makes sense, and pic attached is related. Looks like a person made it.>>233319kek
>>233288>This was tried before. Board gets filled with news threads with single digit replies, if any.
The random news thread is filled with single-digit replies to posts as well. The problem still exists, but now is concentrated into a single thread that is much harder to search through. This isn't counting the off-topic, non-news posts in the thread that artificially inflate the thread's stats.>Also new threads require locating and uploading an image, the additional burden leads to less news posted.
That's not an indictment of the board participants, that's an indictment of your own personal laziness projected onto the board. Of more concern is the aforementioned inflation and amount of links that contain little to no summary, disincentivizing investigation.
Single threads for news articles fail and large monolithic news threads fail as well, meaning there is another root cause of the non-participation.
A challenge for you. The Awoo News Network threads attract much more participation than single threads and the random news thread. Do you know what the reason for that is?
Feel free to do it better, I'll wait.
Your answer is part of the reason there is a participation difference. Does that help you find the answer?
Feel free to do it better, I'll wait.
I don't have much to post about. The democrats are fucking themselves harder than my shitposting memes ever could. I want to shoop some memes, but every time I think about something, some primary candidate (or the gang of 4reigners) opens their mouth, and out does anything I could have made.
They took my jerb!
But seriously, the dems are betting on crazy, and I can't compete. Even just pointing it out doesn't do it justice. It's all down to the american voter and if they want crazy or trump.
A joke I saw recently was.. Trump's 2020 campaign will simply be video of Democrats speaking.
The problem isn't that we're a small community. If you look at this places traffic, and have been around since the start, you know this place used to be quite alive. So the problem isn't with needing new blood, but keeping old blood fresh and alive. You do this with a lot of activities and the like. More or less look to old /b/ for inspiration. Doesn't have to be super high quality. It can be stupid, but should eb on topic. Example: the /pol/eague. If we had a /pol/eague esc event happening every month this place would have high traffic since burnout would be low.
I used to create a bunch of them all of the liberal bullshitery that happens in my local town that I am glad I am not from. I would just grab what ever picture the news station had and posted a link then tried to create a conversation about it.
I think the (lps)Awooo threads get more traction because they act like generals? Most current news always on bottom and you can see what you missed by scrolling up? I dunno, I don't browse them to be honest.
>>233451>Trump's 2020 campaign will simply be video of Democrats speaking.
I know, seriously. I think the dems think that everyone is so pissed off about trump that whoever wins the primary will be the next president, but I'm not so sure. The democrats do have very, very high motivation, but I don't know if that's enough if they choose a crazy candidate.
>Somebody should do X because I want it
What are you waiting for?
you guys have kind of a niche with the brony theme, perhaps its best not to rush growth? i only found this because of the cloud fags and 8.i never ran one of these before so i can only speculate, i think slow natural growth is best. quality people, not quantity?
Is growth a good idea? I like the "muh sekret club" aspect. Also, I'm worried about more false flags to take down /mlpol/ like what happened on 4/pol/ and 8/pol/.
I dunno, I think the place has a pretty decently sized userbase. Sure it doesn't have the lightning speed that makes 4chan attractive, but it doesn't really need to. There's tons of sites out there slower than this one that have kept their userbase over many years.
I don't want to see that happen either, but I don't think it will. The news would have a much harder time convincing the public that an MLP site is a nazi hideout, anyway.
The democrats have a very high chance of winning only if there is a recession/economic collapse or a major war before the 2020 election is finalized, otherwise Trump will probably be reelected. It's difficult to unseat a sitting president. The devil people know versus the devil they don't know, they're gonna go with the former.
>>236037>The news would have a much harder time convincing the public that an MLP site is a nazi hideout
Of course, that would be plain slander. This site is about Friendship
I got recruited from /pol/ this week.
I like this board!
There's a good chance with the way the trade war is going. It's hurting China more but it may be enough to destabilize America's economy as well.
I think an overdue business cycle is far more likely to hurt the economy, since the trade wars haven’t really done much harm so far
I'll say the horse thing is weird but fuck it, I can work with it and it makes nice scenery with all the great content tucked in.
Very well conceptualized boys.
Thats what alot of us said. Welcome!
If the site grows it will attract shills…
But Im pimping it on minds[dot]com anyway
>>236100>If the site grows it will attract shills…
That's what the horse pussy and mods are for.
>>236105>That's what the horse pussy and mods are for.
Well, when 8cuck went offline we were a little flooded with cancer and wasn't pretty.
No it wasn't, but it didn't turn out too bad. I whet my blade many times that night
>>235429>>236036>>236100>is growth a good idea?>muh sekret club>it doesn't have the speed that 4chan has, but it doesn't really need it>if the site grows it will attract shills
If we won't put some effort into growing this site, the current downward trend (>>233287
) is going to continue.
We shouldn't push into extremes of either not growing this site at all (which will result in this place dying out) or shilling it everywhere (decrease in quality, ultimately sharing the fate of 4pol after 2016 elections).
The key is to find the golden mean, where the userbase is growing, but slow enough to not change the board culture.
Jesus fucking christ, not again. Seriously anon? I'm gonna assume you're just naive and not shitposting.>>233287
Is a faggot. He's been shilling those graphs for like 2 years now, predicting "hurr, muh fall of /mlpol/" since there were like 800 UIDs (check the home page, its now about 5.5k).
In spite of the apparent precision and autism of his graphics, he's been numerously informed of the logistics behind his graphs, why they are false or misleading, and why he should quit being a faggot, and yet years later he is at it again.
But do buy into his bullshit, he loves it when people do that.>Tl;dr Mlpol is fine, lurk moar newfag
This is more of his brilliant analysis
Is this the guy you're listening to?
>>236117>The key is to find the golden mean, where the userbase is growing, but slow enough to not change the board culture.
I support this.
Look at it this way. In June of '17 /mlpol/ had 500 Unique IDs.
It now has 10x that. That's a growth of 1000% in 2.5 years.
You're going to get small numbers of people filtering in from /pol/ as they get sick of the feds, boomers, and shills. I left /pol/ for here and I don't even watch mlp
I only lurk here
>>236117>The key is to find the golden mean
/mlpol/ os a pit of slime, we slowly consume people and turn them into even more slime. -Sir.Anon, circa 2017.>>236036>Sure it doesn't have the lightning speed that makes 4chan attractive
An anon once posted about how /mlpol/ being a slow board actually gives its userbase time to have a proper discussion.
I see it like the difference between a movie (4chan) and a book (mlpol)
If you want more activity without losing quality, make whatever threads on /sp/
It seems like the higher the quality, the slower the board, just look at /üb/ place is great and slow.
I would say its more like watching a movie where half the theatre is heckling and not even watching the movie, often shouting completely asinine shit for the lulz, because they snuck into the theatre drunk from a local bar, versus reading a book.
Yeah, good illustration
/pol/ is awful which is ironic for the amount of time I spend there.
Newfag lurker reporting in. Saw this place posted once on /pol/ a while ago and lurked a bit here and there.
Current state of /pol/ is horrendous and a bit demoralizing to the movement. I like the comfiness of /mlp/ but we do need a bit more useful content. Best of luck guys, I typically don't post unless I have something useful/intelligent to say.
I don't seek to control content, only context. Controlling content is ridiculous unless you can control people; content doesn't fall from trees, but it's important to know how to navigate in an ecosystem.
It doesn't matter to me who the authors are; if someone's writing some really awful book full of terrible grammar I'm afraid it will impact me as a reader for the rest of my life. What it means is we should be able to take what they've written and use it in creative ways, rather than just ignoring them as though they didn't exist. For me, the most amazing things are created with the input of other people and I think if that is what we want to do with publishing we should try it. We should be able to create more books, and so will the rest of the people who want to read them.
dudes just keep it gangster. slow grow is better than no grow. ever here of this guy? https://www.16chan.xyz/pol/res/729.html#
