I don't think it will wind up defeating Obama Care. The Supreme Court already defended Obama Care in the past. Not to mention the Republican Party cucked itself on repealing Obama Care. Fuckers platformed on it forever and when the time came they just fucked it up.
People are required to buy car insurance; health insurance isn't that big of a jump from that. I don't think its the best option, but I understand why they require everyone to buy health insurance. Since pre-existing conditions need to be covered now, they got to get everyone on a policy to drive down costs. It is bad press to tell people with pre-existing conditions they can't get coverage, but its the equivalent of buying car insurance for a car about to break down. The company is only going to lose money off it. However, without a health policy those people are going to the hospital and tax payers get to pay for it anyway.
There are two things I really dislike about Obama Care. First it mandates all kinds of extra garbage that inflates the cost of a policy. You can't chose to buy a bare bones policy or at least be selective. If you are healthy you gotta shill out extra cash to meet the Obama Care policy requirements. Maybe that is by design in an attempt to solve the pre-exsisting issue, but it still sucks.
Second, its fucking terrible for efficiency. The insurance companies hurt their profits checking all these boxes and insuring all these extra people so they seek ways to mitigate costs. The big companies do this by threatening that doctors will be dropped from their network if they don't charge less. I don't know if they have networks outside the US. In short, it is all of the doctor's offices that accept certain health insurance companies. Kinda like the way some stores accept certain credit cards but not others. If the insurance company drops the doctor from their network they will lose all the customers who use that insurance to pay for their health care. Now, the doctor has to charge less from the insurance company for each patient. To compensate, he will need to see more patients in a smaller amount of time and in some cases the quality will drop. Importantly, the smaller insurance companies without huge networks can't handle these costs and they will go out of business or shrink. Now there is less competition and even less reason for insurance rates to go down.
Honestly, the whole thing is a mess and I think part of the reason Republicans couldn't repeal Obama Care is because finding a good solution was harder than just yelling "repeal Obama Care!" at rallies. Regardless, the current system is an inefficient clusterfuck and it relies heavily on making people who wouldn't usually pay a lot for health insurance pay into it so people who wouldn't normally get health insurance can afford it.
