To hack a missile would have been fairly hard. If there was a launch, it would have to have either of been a manual launch, or we would have seen the results by now(downed aircraft, hard target hit, etc.). To hack a missile would have required an objective that would have exploded by now. Since there have been no indications of something taken out, it would have had to of been a manual launch. It is unlikely that it would have been an interception as there would have been great military irregularities and panic. Maybe it was for testing or another purpose? Maybe it was not a missile at all, but something else? It's not a helicopter, that's for sure.

>Not a Rocket or Missile signature. Looks like an Electromagnetic Railgun Projectile. 2016 Navy Info Release says they are similar to a Sabot Round fired by a Tank. I know what a Sabot round looks like, 105 and 120,, I have fired a couple of thousand. And by that statement they mean it is a kinetic energy projectile. And they do look like that when captured on camera fired at night. Plus, in April 2016 the Navy announced they would be conducting Electromagnetic Warfare Training on Whidbey in the future to train Growler Pilots in Electromagnetic Warfare. Considering the Electromagnetic Railgun max effective range is 50 times the range of a sabot fired from a main gun on an Abrams, Ill call it an Electromagnetic Railgun Projectile since all the evidence points to that.

Indeed! And how was it "stoped"?

Looking at rail guns, the projectile should not leave a streak. But if it is a night cam then perhaps that is a heat trail giving off infrared. Maybe it was not aimed, it was just enough to show they could? Also what if they did not hack the launcher itself but hacked the comms to human operators? Many questions no authoritative answers.

China would likely have made some of the basic parts, that's true. The majority of the finished parts and assembly would have been US domestic however. Then again, the Chinese have gotten into the actual naval stations and other production sites. Maybe it was a China hack?

I am wondering if cyber warfare has reached the Navy.

>SAN FRANCISCO — Was a hack attack behind two separate instances of Navy ships colliding with commercial vessels in the past two months? Experts say it’s highly unlikely, but not impossible — and the Navy is investigating.

>Rumors on Twitter and in computer security circles have been swirling about the possibility that cyber attacks or jamming were involved in the collisions. Speculation has been fueled by four accidents involving a U.S. warship this year, two of which were fatal, the highly-computerized nature of modern maritime navigation, and heightened concern over global cyberattacks — especially attacks against U.S. government entities.
>Chief of naval operations Admiral John Richardson said in a tweet on Monday there was no indication of the possibility of cyber intrusion or sabotage but the "review will consider all possibilities." It had been retweeted over 830 times by Wednesday.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2017/08/23/could-hackers-behind-u-s-navy-collisions/594107001/

>Argument against
1. Unlikely missiles can be hacked on takeoff
The missiles themselves tend to be tomahawk guided missiles made directly by the MIC not foreign purchased meaning that malware being implemented in them would be unlikely. The firing system has not been upgraded since the 1970s since they were introduced and even though the guidance system has been updated 3 times it would seem unlikely that it would be vulnerable.
2. No state actor is stupid enough to
Hacking infrastructure or operating on foreign powers in information warfare is one thing, but attacking a military target in a hacking attack is suicidal since out of all actors this is the most likely to cause harm and retaliation. The pinch test is that this is something we could go to war over, so if you haven't heard shit about it, then it likely isn't a foreign power that did it. Add that with Russia and China being the only ones really capable that might want to, and that the missile did jack shit, mean its even more unlikely. On top of that add that the US is opening up with the norks, something both powers want, and it'd be very unlikely that they'd do it.
>inb4 what about other powers or say a terrorist
Other powers might be more included at this point, such as the UK, France, or Nermany but are not as well equipped, that is besides the UK. And then you need to ask yourself why would the UK attack a military target instead of just apply information warfare tools instead, something less likely to get backlash if they were caught? To piss of the US into throwing off the nork shit or sanctions? Doesn't seem like it fits together honestly given that May isn't anywhere near as willing to sabtagoge her relation with Trump as the other two.
Terrorist on the other hand just don't have the capabilities to attack a state to this degree. Infrastructure, sure. Military guided missiles. No.

What does that leave us with? Human error or the navy wanted to shoot a missile. That or ayylmaos, which are as fake as skeletons.

Nope. The only real counter argument I can think of is that if the navy was being hacked it should have leaked by now. The media is in the pentagon, than the Trump administration can't keep a lid on anything.

I'm a bit late with a reply, but I find the prospect of a rogue element in the military to be more likely than hacking a sub's missile system. Someone more loyal to the cause of globalization than to the states. It's common knowledge that the government is crawling with stooges like the FBI's Peter Strzok who have no qualms about abandoning their oaths to do anything in their power to get Trump out of office. It's not much of a stretch to think that there may be members of the military who would take a shot at Trump if the opportunity arose.

I skimmed the thread, and there is one possibility that I don't see mentioned.

Assuming that there was some kind of failed missile attack, the observed missile isn't necessarily the offensive threat. The missile launch captured by the camera may have been an interceptor that thwarted the attack.

I'm not aware of subs normally acting in that role, but it's a trick that I'd like to have in my back pocket if I were the military.

I'm not an expert on the matter, but one of our newer ship launched surface to air missiles is the RIM-174 "Standard Missile 6." It's a surface to air missile intended for targeting aircraft and anti-ship missiles. These missiles are supposed to be able to make use of targeting data from other navy assets. I think that the poster-child of showing off that feature is an F-35 keeping all of its panels buttoned up to remain stealthy as it relays targeting data to guided missile destroyers.

I'm not aware of submarines launching the SM-6. It's certainly not a missile that you can launch from under water. Can a sub carry one, launch it while surfaced, and let some other Navy asset provide the missile with targeting data? Maybe? That strikes me as something within the realm of possibility.

I should add that the physical dimensions of the SM-6 are smaller than the trident missiles that our missile subs are known to carry. The trident is ~twice as long and ~four times wider than the SM-6. I assume that it is possible to rig up the necessary hardware to fire an SM-6 from one of those tubes, but that's just speculation on my part.

With imformation abou the camera we should be able to get the angular size of the missile. With the camera position and the minimum/maximum range of a sub position we could get the min/max size of the missile. The 20 sec time exposure might distort this measurement.

Technically they didn't lie, it was probably a kinetic missile because it probably had no payload.
It's starting to get late, nothing will likely happen today so it's best to go to bed and catch the details later after the official navy reports are released.

New theory.

1) The missile could not have launched from Puget Sound, WA. People would have heard it and lower level smoke would be seen.
2) The light might be traveling horizontally rather than vertically. If so the light is traveling from the distant cloud bank towards the camera, over head. It's travel is like a meteor.
3) The head of the light looks like a rocket lit on one side from the morning sun. The dark side is unlit and is lost in the over exposed cloud color.

>SEATTLE – A meteor may have streaked across the Western Washington skies early Friday morning.
>Darren Clayton was driving west on the Highway 2 trestle in Everett when the dashboard camera on his car recorded video of a bright object streaking across the sky at 4:35 a.m. He posted it on YouTube
>It’s not clear yet if the object was a meteor, space junk entering the atmosphere, or something else.

Note the article says Friday but 6/10/16 on the video name is a Sunday. 4.35am is 39 minutes after the "missile" photo. The date on the car cam must be GMT/UT time. If it is UT time then

I think the video is legit from 2016 (at least it would have needed some really heavyhanded retrospective edit across many websites to change it). It might be coincidence that the meteor was two years earlier, or if missile launch that they picked the date and time based on it.

Arietids aren't the origin. The origin point would be above the camera so the meteor would be pointing downward unless it bounced off the atmosphere. I would also be traveling to the left not up.

Assuming the camera is pointed like camera 2 (See >>153142 pic #2 and https://8ch.net/qresearch/res/2343684.html#2346322 )

Pic shows that the sun is lower right and not to the left. This means if the sun is illuminating the object and trail, the right-hand side is illuminated.
