Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met for two hours at the Demilitarized Zone (06:00 and 08:00 GMT). Apparently it was about the potential future summit between NK and the USA. Considering the expected NK/SK meeting was recently canceled by the North, why did this meeting take place? Is NK that desperate for a deal with the United States?

i think the summits talks between NK and SK are far more important than any of the fiddling america does inbetween the states. After all, they are brothers and neighbors. Who cares what the US thinks of them. They need to reunite their people and i wish them luck for that.

SK has been a USA client state for some time, and is still under legitimate threat from NK. SK is more or less forced to go with whatever the USA does. If SK and the USA split, then SK is not only under threat from NK, but also China.

The implication has been that the Deep State was running NK as a black site, and the nuke threat was from the Deep State, not NK. In that narrative it would seem that the Deep State lost control of NK for a while, and now they have regained some control.

If SK decides that NK isn't a threat anymore and that they want to work together, then the USA can get fucked. What do they want to do?

If they are at good terms with their neighbours, then they don't need US protection anymore. The only way how SK gets independent is by peace. Of course the US Deep State doesn't have any interest in that, because peace means that they lose influence. The korean peninsula is a very nice position for the military, between China, Russia and Japan.
