I've been wanting to ask this for ages and I think now is a good time but you guys realize mlp is a kids show right? I think /mlpol/ is great but I can't fucking stand the show. That episode where they introduced glimglam was the first and last I ever watched, I could not even finish it.
What's worse is you have everyone circlejerking over its societal message like SJdoublejeWs.
How can people defend the show as not being a kids show, it's clearly written for the lowest common denominator that are small prepubescent girls.

Don't get me wrong, there are still good parts to the show and good episodes. The foundation remains solid, and good talent continues to work on the show. However, you cannot deny that the show as a whole has taken a nosedive. I can't remember a recent episode that could stand on its own merits. I believe this is due to incompetent top down episode derection.

The show is still good enough to keep me watching overall. I'll probably even suffer through this season since I'm sure there's at least a couple of good episodesI'm just praying they keep the social justice faggotry to a minimum. I basically just started watching it because of /mlpol/ and wasn't really expecting much from it going in. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I've enjoyed watching it.

Probably the most maddening thing about it is that it's neither consistently good enough to love unconditionally, nor consistently bad enough to just up and stop watching. The first two seasons were charmingly cute and fun, but after that it's hit or miss. There's a few episodes that I think are really great and just completely knock it out of the park, even from the most recent seasons, and there's a few that are just dull and uninspired.

I think all in all the series is about 85% for me, which is actually a better rating than I give a lot of adult-oriented shows that I've watched to the end.

I'm hoping this list isn't real. The "Trump Card" episodes would directly contradict a lot of series canon for the sake of pushing a political agenda. Such a scenario would be hard to pull off in Equestria because the country doesn't have its laws or leaders decided upon by public opinion. It is a fucking monarchy. Only Luna and Celestia can decide upon border policy, and if such a tycoon tried to take over Equestria in any way, you send the guards in, charge him with sedition, and lock him up in a cold dark cell for the rest of his life.

I still have a large number of DVDs and don't mind watching them, but I feel like if I bought the DVD they would release the BluRay a couple months later and then I would reeeeeeeeee

Okay so I watched the s01e01 last night and it was embarrassingly good honestly.
Complete opposite of what I remember from the glimglam episode, no contrived power rangers shit, no retarded or confusing crystal castle shit and no retard tier pacing and formulaic plot direction.
I liked it because it told a neat story without spewing exposition constantly, but maybe that's because it's a kid show.

Honestly, I can't say I think it's great.
I did enjoy myself like having a good roll around at the dusty books joke - but I think it's okay.

I completely understand the whole 'it used to made for little girls but like other cartoons where parents wouldn't kill themselves watching or from proximity' thing.

It had all the hallmarks of a brand new show though, with good writers trying their complete best to break into the market.
I'm not gonna say this is a good thing and I am still completely skeptical of the show but it wasn't terrible.

I found the show one night crying, afther being abused by my father-in-law.
I just felt like shit and that wasn't even the first time, worst of all I knew it was my fault because of the actions I had in the past.
This show was really sweet, the colors, voices, the simple story, the Utopia that it was, it portrayed a really beautiful land that made such a contrast to my reality, I couldn't help but fall in love with the show.
It was like a warm hug from mother afther a bad dream, those nights watching the show made me so happy, I didn't have to worry about the sad particularities of my situation.

It was thanks to that show that I was able to endure the shittiest years of my life and grow up.

That's the only reason I followed the show till season 6, but I don't plant to keep watching, like a good dog, the time comes for us to let go.

I won't lie, the voices annoyed the shit out of me when I tried to watch that Glimmer episode, I was listening carefully to the voices this time around to critique them but found them not so bad for some reason.

I understand matching vocal notes as well and things like that, in retrospect I have no clue why they annoyed me.

I think the genre threw me off and it's probably throwing you off, the weird cute tones and the weird way the story is being started. I've seen professional works that do a WORSE job at creating a fresh(ish) IP though, so credit where it's due.
