Good crops are the ones who can feed you and give you the nutrients you need.
Coffee,grapes,lemons,etc. Are shit crops for survival because they don't provide you of the energy and proteins you need to live a healthy life.

Drat. I live in a city with only about a couple hundred thousand people and thought I would be out of range of a nuke. Turns out, if this map is correct, one would be landing right on top of me.

Since someone screencapped one of my posts related to economic failures and long term survivial figured I'd drop it here. What happened in the Baltics was a series of purposefully caused crashes from the the early 70's to the late 90's. From that time period that a rather specific list of long-term bartering necessities were drawn up, which is image #1.

Image #2 are the most common, rugged, and easily made survival shelters. Print it out, laminate it, and study it from time to time.

Above all image #3 is the single most vital for farmers and hunters. In order for our ancient ancestors to plan ahead, they had to understand the weather patterns.

#4 is a PDF of ditch medicine. No, that is not a joke. Many of the lessons drawn from are quite grisly, yet they are incredibly valuable for the purposes of [insert_condition_here] failure. I suggest finding a copy of it, or print off and laminate everything.

The importance of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course handbooks is it teaches you how to properly use and handle guns, and even lets you learn about Canadian laws for storing guns, so if you're a leaf and you wanna stock up on guns while society and government still exists, this will teach you how to properly store weapons so the RCMP won't have a case on you when they decide to hassle you.

Final dump. I don't have any farming stuff, but I know a good book is Square Foot Gardening, teaching you how to build gardens with a square foot. I got the first edition in paper back, so I should start reading that more. It's a really efficient way of gardening, even teaches you about winter storage I believe.

This really depends on where you want to live just make sure you are getting proper nutrients.

again this one depends on the area. In West Texas wind would be a good option, in states with a lot of woods pyrolysis of wood may be a good option, if you have a lot of land in the open solar might be the best option, if you are near a stream you could use hydroelectric, if you are close to a city or town you could use biodiesel (from cooking oil), black diesel (from motor oil and transmission fluid), or pyrolysis of plastic/tires

Don't use anything flammable like wood. You there won't be any fire departments nearby innawoods and we all saw what happened in Waco. Try Stone, Adobe, or concrete. These might cause problems in colder or wetter climates but you can use oils or asphalt to water proof Adobe and concrete and you could use shredded HDPE plastic bags instead of plant matter in Adobe to improve strength.
What tools are needed to go off the grid?
Not sure exactly what you would need but you would need alot l. You will have to build, maintain, produce, and grow everything on your own or with your community.

You forgot to add weather conditions and access to greenhouses. By the way, if you do have a greenhouse, get spare parts for easy repairs, in case some nigger decide to smash it up with rocks for fun.
