Brexit UK Party wins 31% of the vote, and the Liberal Democrats 20%. Labor comes in 4th and Conservatives in 5th with single digits. Jeremy Corbyn now firmly backs a second referendum and a snap general election.

In Italy Salvini's Lega won 34%, with the 5 Star Movement, left-wing populists that are the Lega's coalition partner and a member of EFDD in the EU Parliament, came in third with 17%. Anna Soubry declares a Victory for CUK, despite her party winning 0 seats, getting only ~3.3% of the vote (1/10th that of the also-new Brexit Party), and generally winning fewer voters than Labour did in individual regions where Brexit won.
>"Thank you to over 600,000 people who voted @ForChange_Now and our excellent candidates. We have polled better than any genuinely new UK party. We are at the beginning of changing British Politics with #Labour and the #Conservatives in sharp decline"

Thanks for awesome summary and update on the EU elections.

>Jeremy Corbyn now firmly backs a second referendum and a snap general election.
The real shame if there is a 2nd referendum is that the choice will be "Do you want o become a vassal state controlled by the EU, or remain full EU member." So the choice will be do you want it even worse or keep status quo? They will never dare to give the choice "Leave the EU with no deal, or remain member" because they know the result will be a hard brexit.
Other than that if will be fun watching Farage do another speech in the EU parliament, and I don't think he will hold anything back this time.

I wanna know from Euroanons here, as memes aside as possible: How is the situation in the continent? I mean, politically, and in the everyday routine. How is the people living in the current year? If you were to explain to a 5-10 years old group of children what is going on in Europe, whay would you say?

I can try to describe the situation in Norway. In Norway not much is actually happening no matter who is in charge.

The capitol is starting to be segregated into white natives in the west and immigrants in the east. Unless you are a die hard leftist and want to punish your kids you don't want your kid going to a school where he/she is the only Norwegian in the classroom. Also since many of the "refugees" lie on their application saying they are 15yo when they ate 19yo your kids will be going to school with what basically is sexual predators. So the white population is moving to the west of the town so their child can have a normal childhood and have a more or less crime free environment to live in. More or less except when gangs from the east comes over to rob children of their possessions. They don't dare try to steal from adults only small children.
The segregation is not a theme ouside the capitol because there is not any big concentration of immigrants/"refugees" outside the capitol (that is spoken off at least). So moving outside of the capitol will also give your child a normal childhood.

The politicians here is afraid the Yellow Vest movement is going to spread here. They are not saying it loudly, but all of a sudden all parties are against Toll booths on roads. And all are trying to blame the only party that are against toll booths for having to agree to having them because they have to follow the platform the government was formed on. But most of the political parties that are "against" toll booths now is only cloaking it because they just want to obfuscate the collection of toll. One example is the Labor party that wants to place GPS trackers in all cars an make people pay for distance traveled and where you traveled and you have to pay for the "privilege" of driving no matter where it is.

Other than that Norway is a country ruled by a political establishment that have never worked a day in their life in a real job. They give themselves ridiculous high salaries, ridiculous high pension, and many of the political positions are "inherited" where they lift their own kids up in the political hierarchy.

Also if a child of a politician gets an illness, or something, and need medical treatment, or government assistance, that is non existing or lacking, it suddenly becomes a big thing. When that happens it is suddenly something that has been neglected for too long and needs to be fixed. Like if their parents gets ill and have to stay at hospital, them having to sleep in the corridors because there isn't enough rooms in the hospital for patients it become a problem that have to be solved. Before they themselves, the politicians, have to experience real life they don't care or know it exists.

In short the major political parties are too similar for elections to have any real effect or change anything drastically. Sure if center-left+farleft get into power there will be more taxes and more refugees, but it is not like taxes are removed or is any significant reduction in immigrants/"refugees" with a center-right government. But a center-right is still better than a center-left+farleft government.

That being said the political specter is seeing the same as in the US. The left is moving further to the far left while the right is standing where it is. The Red party (marxist party) and Green party (not sure what but extreme left) are seeing worrisome gains in polls. Since the Labor party will have to form a coalition with them to get into power, and God knows the Labor party wants power badly, the Labor party will have to agree to much of the extreme left and make it into their own policies. You can see they are trying to mitigate this by saying they are for things they really are not so they can "negotiate those away" when and if they have to negotiate a political platform with the Rad and Green party.

>sorry for long post, and I hope there is some coherent info to gain from it

Greens are the same no matter what country they're running in: socialists with a particular focus on environmentalism, to the point of fanaticism.

The green parties are all different and to give them a blanket socialist lable is just wrong. Most have middle to left wing views but all are liberal in thinking. To be true socialist you would need a hard left wing agenda that you want to force on everyone.
The green party in the UK that gets a large amount of votes but on ly one seat is hardly left wing at all. Sometimes it is portrayed as such because it would legalise drugs.
I personally do not think drug use is an left/right policy it is more control/non-control policy.

However what people should be worried abotu when it comes to Green policies is that they are often very short term and badly reserached. Plastic was once an enviromentally positive product because it stopped whales, elephants, rhinos... from being used to make snooker balls.

What the previous poster said. Swedish greens are socially liberal feminist pro-immigration globalists first, and for restrictions and tax hikes second. Virtue signaling has shifted from caring about the environment to wanting migrants.

I fail to see how Brexit will happen. The Speaker of the house is refusing to step down and he can not be removed unless there is general election.
Although there is hype that at a GE the Brexit party would somehow win a landslide is just bogus. How people vote in local and EU elections is very different when choosing people for the UK government.

My speculative thinking is from June 10th there will be a leadership race for the tories. It will start nice but the best people will be removed by the establishment leaving the more easily curropted to take the role. I very much hope that they don`t choose Matt Hancock because he is truely worse than May.
Then there will be a GE and the likelyhoood of no true party taking control. A coalition party with be formed and then more endless STING TANTRIC debates.
Until there is a second referedum and remain side wins.

In my fantasy universe Andrea Leadson gets the PM job. She fucks over Bercow and just does the Brexit using the Royal Perogative and bypasses any votes in parliament.

At least the complete destruction of the Conservative Party is a likely result. It’s hardly as good as Brexit, but it will be a great consolation prize. I do think the new prime minister is very unlikely to deliver on Brexit, and a general election where a Labour-Liberal Democrat coalition takes control is most likely. No one can really think a second referendum solves anything: if the first referendum had no democratic mandate behind it, why would a second one, be it with a different result or the same result, have the validity the first one didn’t have?
