Primaries in Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, and Arkansas today! The main thing to look for is where the democrats are going. Are they going further to the left, or are they staying closer to the middle in order to try to win more votes. This will have important consequences for the midterms, and whether or not the Democrats can retake the House. Here are some basics about the races:
>A Democratic primary that captured national attention will be resolved Tuesday, when lawyer Lizzie Pannill Fletcher faces activist Laura Moser in the Houston-area 7th District. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee took the unusual step of releasing research on Moser ahead of the March 6 primary to highlight her past comments it viewed as damaging in a general election. But Moser made the runoff anyway, finishing second behind Fletcher. Tuesday’s matchup will be an early sign of whether national party intervention backfires, works, or doesn’t really matter. The winner will take on GOP Rep. John Culberson in a district Hillary Clinton carried by 1 point in 2016.
>Five open seats are hosting GOP runoffs Tuesday, where the winners will mostly be in a strong position for November
>in the 6th, GOP Rep. Karen Handel, who defeated big-spending Democrat Jon Ossoff by 4 points last year, is now running for a full term. Inside Elections rates the general election Likely Republican. At least three viable Democrats are jockeying to take her on in November
>The Democratic primary in Kentucky’s 6th District to take on GOP Rep. Andy Barr includes two competitive hopefuls.

No, Republicans are having primaries as well, they are just less interesting. Note that Texas had its first set of primaries for at least the GOP in March, and these are the run off elections

Last week the Democrats nominated members of "marginalized groups"
>In Texas, Democrats nominated Lupe Valdez as their candidate for governor. She is openly lesbian. She defeated a Democratic centrist, Andrew White, the son of former Governor (and my former client) Mark White who promised to “continue” his Dad’s moderate legacy. CNN, commented that “the party’s base… has shown little interest in centrists.”
>Idaho Democrats nominated 38 year-old Paulette Jordan, a native American who beat the white 72 year-old choice of the Democratic establishment.
>African-American Stacey Abrams won the Democratic primary for Governor on Tuesday, defeating a moderate who argued that the way to win was to move to the middle. Adrianne Shropshire, executive director of BlackPAC emphasized that Abrams won “this election because she reached out and engaged communities of color, particularly black voters, on the issues that they care about.”
>In Arizona, openly bi-sexual Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema is the Democratic candidate for the open Senate seat.

This is good (for Republicans).
