>Students at schools across the country planned to walk out of their classrooms Wednesday morning and remain outside for 16 minutes to show their support for the Second Amendment.
>More than 300 schools in 40 different states registered for “Stand for the Second” — a nationwide walkout organized by New Mexico 18-year-old Will Riley.
>“I am not a hunter. I am not a shooter. But this issue is not only about guns. This is a battle for the very heart and soul of our country. My goal is simple. I want to spread awareness that not all of my generation shares in this shortsighted crusade to strike a grievous blow for our nation. ”
>The Carlsbad High School senior explained that he organized his “Stand for the Second” event to directly counter previous gun violence demonstrations.
>“Disruption of education has never, and will never be our goal,” according to the event’s website.
>“We do however recognize that when anti-gun students organized their walkout, they were allowed and often encouraged by their schools. In light of this fact, we ask we receive the same platform to express our views.”
>The meaning behind the 16 minutes he’s allotted for the walkout is also a direct nod to the anti-gun violence walkout in March: “In the spirit of civility with school districts around the country, we are asking for one minute less than the other side received,” according to the website.
>The time was also set to recognize the number of Americans saved annually by firearms.
>“Every year an estimated 1.5 million Americans use a firearm to defend themselves,” Riley said. “During a 16 minute walkout, that breaks down to 91 American lives saved during the walkout. We want Americans to know that firearms are overwhelmingly used for good in our country.”

Everything wrong with America.
"We'll walk out and skip our responsibility for this thing instead of showing initiative and dedication."
"We'll eat fast-food and play consumerist idiot while we the people fail to uphold the responsibilities of the 2nd."
But god-forbid they grab my guns!
With the power we let them have unbalanced!
Muh precious NON-arms!1!! As long as stores sell guns and I can buy it's fine right!?

The sad part is he's almost not wrong, but I should clarify that and: >>144881
Unlike (((some people))) implying the 2nd is worthless, it's obviously quite valuable,bBut what we see being upheld ISN'T the 2nd, instead it's a shallow shell of its former self.
It's doing well considering all the hate for it, but the reason it's a former shell of itself is because it's the people who make that 'just a paper' into something as important as it should be.
'We the People' in the literal sense need to restore and uphold ALL aspects of the 2nd for it to work.
The 2nd isn't just a right to bear guns, it's supposed to be a right to ARMS and is about alot more as well, the most well-known other being the section about a militia.
It forms part of the intended balance of power within America between the people and state. America isn't called a 'Constitutional Republic' for show. I admire the forethought of the founding fathers, it's a shame Modern Anerica isn't up to the task.
The day Americans start forming militias that demand sanctioned authority and wield it by practicality to resist and challenge the State, Federal and Alphabets unchecked power, is the day the 2nd is RESTORED along wirh my faith in non-contemporary, non-societal American politics.

You're going to be left waiting, then. I'm not sure there'd be an "America" left if the militias rose up. There'd be a civil war, and there's no hope for the government to win should it start. I'm not sure what would come out of it, but it sure wouldn't be the good ol' US of A that you know of.

On a better note:

Oof.
At least you can still get guns, though there's a lot of restrictions. I think Brits can still get some simple rifles as well, ask britpol.
Self defence law is abit worse of an issue, dess.

Brits have a fucked up law that states their guns have to be of a minimum length. The way around that is to permanently attach an long "metal bar" to the grip of a pistol. And it is hard as hell to get one. But I also feel for you Australia you have a fucked up waiting period.

Are you telling me that Carlsbad isn't completely irredeemable? That place feels like 90% hipsters and 10% strip malls. How the hell…fuck man. Guess I should look into moving there sometime if I stay in cuckifornia.

Brits actually have somewhat looser gun laws than we do, for example, there's a loophole in their laws that class artillery under shotguns. We are more cucked than they are in many ways, less so in others. Furthermore, we may be able to get guns still but only if you have a 'good reason', which self defense apparently isn't a good enough reason, but competitive shooting is.
