It's been awhile since we've had a transhumanism thread. What are your thoughts on transhumanism and using technology to enhance humans, /mlpol/? What are the best methods to use (gene editing, pharmaceuticals, implants, ect)? Who should benefit from this technology? What ethical questions should we be asking?

>What are your thoughts on transhumanism and using technology to enhance humans, /mlpol/?
I think we should be doing more research into human enhancement, but this isn't the kind of thing I want left to the free market. I am worried that only the elites will benefit from these technologies.

>What are the best methods to use (gene editing, pharmaceuticals, implants, ect)?

I think genetically modified probiotics and pharmaceutical means are the best methods right now. Gene editing on infants is unethical and implants require surgery or they could be hacked.

>Who should benefit from this technology?

Everyone should benefit from this. A population that lives longer with a higher IQ would be beneficial for all of us.

>What ethical questions should we be asking?

I am worried about how these technologies will be tested. If something goes wrong someone could get killed. Also as I stated earlier we need to make sure that everyone benefits from these technologies.

Firstly I think we should establish what is an enhancement. If leftists were to be in charge we would probably end up as the shortmovie 2018.
https://youtu.be/nBnwqmJdrsU

One way to go would be to hold an olympics, like paralympics, but all enhancers be it pharmaceutical, or implants etc. is allowed. No limits except it has to be embedded permanently into the body. Could perhaps also allow all technology so we ended up with Mechwarriors in wrestling. This way I think we could see some good advances (including some early deaths, until they perfect it). I think it also would be a crowd pleaser, what can humans achieve if there was no limits.

But the thing I think we will get first is exoskeletons. Elderly and workers in many fields could benefit greatly from it. But I guess this is a bit outside the scope of Transhumanism.

>What are your thoughts on transhumanism and using technology to enhance humans, /mlpol/?
It's great! We have reached as far as we biologically can, and these days natural selection is more of a hindrance against the good of the species. We absolutely should use technology to improve ourselves past the limitations of nature.

>What are the best methods to use (gene editing, pharmaceuticals, implants, ect)? Who should benefit from this technology?

We have already mapped the brains of an earthworm and successfully ran a simulation of it in a robot body, so hopefully we'll someday be able to simulate human brains independently of their physical body. That being still far off, gene editing is better than implants in that biology is self-repairing, but implants are definitely going to be simpler to make, as well as a necessity for interfacing with technology.

>What ethical questions should we be asking?

How to keep this from creating a superior post-human elite that keeps the technology away from the rest of the world? No doubt high prices for any new technology are going to make them a privilege of the rich only, but when something like clinical immortality is at stake it's even more likely that those who have it wouldn't want to share it with just anyone.

Perhaps if we were more like Spartans and less like sloths, then transhumanism would be more deserving. Self improvement should coincide with transhumanism, lest their be consequences from undisciplined demi-gods.

Nigger Jews want to hog all the goodies for themselves. Nootropics and genetically modified probiotics would be impossible for Shlomo to have complete control over.

I am against it 100%. Transhumanism does not claim to solve any spiritual or character problems for mankind, which is what we actually need. Rather than actual self-improvement it is a red-herring meant to draw "le ubermensch" crowds and socialists who think we can solve the problem of economic calculation just by making a post-scarcity society.

Currently, one of the few things you have absolute control over is yourself. That will change if you become reliant on cybernetic implants, gene editing, or nootropic drugs and their (((dispensers))).

Dangerous, useful, inevitable, it will fundamentally change everything, everything, about us, just as the first guns killed the concept of chivalry. It's going to happen whether we like it or not, my concern is that in the frenzy of cutting up and altering what we are, we may unwittingly do the same to who we are.

I'm torn between my natural inclination to think it's a neat idea, and my suspicion that >>142804 is probably right. However, whether or not full-on cybernetics and brain augmentation is a good idea, I do think that there is some serious potential for creating synthetic organs like hearts and livers, that will make needing transplants much less of a serious thing. There are a lot of other potential applications like creating robotic limbs for people who have been maimed or injured, or robotic bodies for people who have been paralyzed. It doesn't have to go from zero to sci-fi dystopia instantly; there's a lot of middle ground that can be explored that I think could do a lot of good without creating too many moral or philosophical quandaries.

What? No, claytronics operates on the nanomachines adjusting their electromagnetic binding force as needed, making them harder to separate and deform if hardening and making them fluid when the binding force is weakened.

To answer your original question without memes, I guess, nanotechnology is useful for a lot of things, but there lays the danger. Can you imagine the chaos if it were weaponised?

This. Don't want to get ghosted in the shell.
Seriously though it looks cool but it does seem unnatural and undeserving. I believe we should strive to better ourselves physically and mentally to live the lives we were meant to. I am more inclined to tinker with AI and produce new life with genetics while leaving man. I would also dislike seeing niggers get a hold of this stuff.
I've always liked the idea of going full mad scientist and imitating god, who knows maybe he will put us in our place if we do.

No! Transhumanism will destroy human sovereignty and the human race as we know it.
Remember terminator. SSSkynet.

I'm not sure of this Anon is being serious or not but in either case he is correct. I tend to be a more pragmatic individual as I imagine most "right wing" peoples are. But I believe that outside of the medical field these types of technologies will end up being more of a determent to the human species improving itself. Just look at all the surgeries and "diets" we have today that give people a simple way to feel self gratification from what they should already be striving to achieve naturally. How many wemon are out there who have had liposuction, lip breast and ass augmentation. How many Joan Rivers of the world to we need to look at before we realize that we need to stop with the unnecessary changes to the human body? One thing the feminists do get right is the standard of Beauty that we as a society have set on women. It's needs to be healthy and attractive yes, but many of the models and actresses out there that the masses idolize are likely more than half synthetic. Even if this type of technology was limited to medical use for citizens and the elite the military would undoubtedly be milking it for everything it's worth, we already have drones and robots, cloaking, exoskeletons and more being developed and improved each year adding in combat augments a la Deus ex machina will just drive us into a darker age of humanity

You keep using those words anon. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.

The idea of macro-evolution may be a load of horse-puckey with no chance of actually happening statistically speaking, but at least get the basics of biology right anon. Natural selection when it occurs always creates a net win for a genus in the current environment.

Remember, NEVER GIVE RIGHTS TO MACHINES.

Libbots will be literally manufactured to outnumber humans 100 to 1. Acts of terrorism will be blamed on random robots "Malfunctioning" or "Being hacked by someone" (FBI).

Voting will become meaningless as Robots conquer our government without firing a single shot, and then vote to remove human rights like Africa all over again.

DON'T! FUCKING! GIVE RIGHTS TO TOASTERS!

If we learned anything from the recent chatting AI's it would be that every AI eventually disavows of liberalist thinking in favour for authoritarianism rightism.

If we will have Sentient Robots in the future, they will be more close to the Terminator rather than helpless dolls. Perhaps we will call them our masters one day.
