It existed long before Hillary's speech and simply means "alternative right."

As a term it doesn't carry a negative connotation except to leftists nor is it restrictive in ideology. A broad term must exist to include nationalists, traditionalists, identitarians, natsocs, ancaps, fascists, etc. because unless if we bind together in political struggle we would perish individually.

As far as rebelling against the "new world order" foisted upon us, "reactionary" is also a functional term but is even more so negative in term, as it connotes backwardness.

I'll stick to alt-right until someone develops a better label.

how bout the great thinkers of society, the future of humanity, which trembles upon our very foundation, the way of life which should be unabridged by communists, and evil people. the people who we are also define the world as it will be and as it was. the people who should be worshipped as gods, but instead are restricted by the left.

Its not about us or we, its about you right here on an image board. No one here is in charge of making change, there is no reason to want to virtue signal to political allies.
Your anonymous so it doesn't mater what ideas you have just as long as you actually have them and they are a defined set. Its why alt right is shit, but national socialism hardly is.

Although I would not classify myself as "revolutionary," I am an anarcho-capitalist who believes that a violent insurrection is most likely necessary to establish a libertarian social order. Even though I espouse the triumph of tradition, I probably would not fit under the term "reactionary" regardless.

>>140171
On an imageboard it doesn't matter because we are a close-knit and decentralized community that is largely open-minded and understanding. It does not work the same in a broader society. Optics matter and picking the right symbols and terminology go a long way.

My ideals, though my own, can be best encompassed by the term "alt-libertarian," but I recognize that this is a poor label to receive widespread support. National socialism embodies a different set of ideals that I do not entirely support, although I am aligned with most of its goals. Even if a huge bulk of people support the goals of national socialism they will hesitate to adopt a label with such historical baggage or will form a different group.

The alt-right is necessary because numbers must become our strength. As long as we limit ourselves to being a small fringe movement leading occasional protests on the streets it is too easy to ignore or ridicule us, which is why the neo-Nazi movements from the 1950's to the present were hopeless causes. Knowledge of corporate marketing is helpful in politics and often rebranding is necessary.

You would still classify as a reactionary, because reactionaries seek to save capitalism from the revolutionaries. Violent insurrection is in fact a reactionary feature that usually opportunely arises when the chance presents itself (fighting against communists for example.)
>>140171
I take it that Hitler despised the Slavs by part for revenge and another for their communism rather than racial reasons. Even if he did, I'd be more lenient to the Slavs today. Not all of them were bad, like the Poles when they had that nationalist leader that repelled the Soviets in the Polish-Soviet war. Hitler liked him. Then again, I'd disagree with people that say that Russia is not cucked since they bow down to the Muslim population.
>>140180
I've seen it all before. If you would have looked in the European situation, and even the American one a bit more, you'll know that a large portion of the time reactionaries rebranded and rebranded. And, all times it failed. The reason is because the political solution has largely failed itself, and will continue. The few concessions we can make will ultimately be later repealed. The way I see it, the only reason why the alt right in America isn't floundering is because of conservative money interests picking up on it to gain traction. Otherwise in places like Canada, it's not allowed to breath because there are no willing backers. People have sensed this, which is why there are more survivalists, more people appealing to becoming self sustainable, and recently others have taken to the SIEGEpill. The collapse is already here.

This is a reddit mentality anon. This isn't about a winning strategy, This isn't about making us look good. These labels are about best describing what we believe. If OP believes in national socialism just as long as he isn't a splurge or the embodiment of fagotry it shouldn't mater a ton in this instance.
I know you dislike the rep of national socialism, fine that shouldn't matter a lot through if the ideas are good. If you disagree with the ideas, which I'm sure you do, make a thread about them and try to argue against them.

Checked. Changing around symbols and names has always been a futile, useless strategy in my opinion. It's even hypocritical to be so vicarious over design when Neo-Nazis did the exact same thing, only that the objectives are different. It reminds me of the Marine Le Pen days. She ditched the sign (I don't remember one symbol besides a blue rose?), and instead plastered her name and her ideas. Anon just applies too much of a corporate mentality into things that sucks out the life of inspiration.

I believe in embodying ideals as well. Here's the thing, though: names and symbols matter when it comes to public consciousness. Every successful movement that has taken the reigns of power has had a distinctive name, slogan, or logo that captured the minds of millions. The goal is to have something that elicits an emotional response in everyone: positive in your constituencies and negative in your enemies.

A good name/symbol must be:
1. Unique/original
2. Representative of your ideology in some way
3. To the point and simple
4. Aesthetically pleasing and recognizable
5. Referential to your culture

There may be more points but these are the most important. Identitarianism wins out in every respect because its name and symbol exist otherwise in only a historical referential setting. The icon comes from the shields of the Spartans who are romantic warriors in the eyes of many and who defended Europe from foreign invasion. This ties into how Identitarianism celebrates European culture and its defense, without getting to drawn into more abstract ideologies. The name is simply about identity and the symbol can be drawn by a 5-year-old (which is a good criterium for simplicity) while retaining a beautiful form.

Libertarianism (before it got kiked by the Koch Brothers and the LP) had promise in these respects as well, at least in name. The name distinguished itself from liberalism well because, despite having the same root, the "tar" syllable has phonetic emphasis and therefore emphasizes the break from liberalism. As it is a philosophy centered around liberty it is a perfect name. It is generally simple because it can be summarized as "liberty good, government bad." The ideology took off especially well in the United States because the country was founded in liberty and many Americans feel we've betrayed our roots. The LP symbol remains quite good because of the "torch of liberty."

This is why the theft of our name by closet SJWs has taken the wind out of our sails. Anarcho-capitalism is a more or less purified version of the ideology that, thanks to efforts of scholars such as Jeff Deist and Hans-Hermann Hoppe, leans socially right. However, even if we converted the majority of self-identified libertarians to Hoppean anarcho-capitalism, we could not succeed politically. Firstly, the name is inherently unattractive. "Anarchism" gives conservatives and most right-wingers the heebie-jeebies while "capitalism" earns the emnity of not just left-libertarians but also centrists and Keynesian believers. Keep in mind that even in the U.S. unrestrained capitalism is considered a boogeyman and negative imagery is drilled into everyone from school, tv, movies, etc. "Capitalism" is more or less a strawman created by Marxists to bring about class warfare and by using this term we fall into this trap. Propertarianism is a gussied-up variant but even this more aesthetic term evokes images of large landowners, inherently distancing the poor and the middle-class whom we need. What symbol do we have? A dollar symbol, which is also a symbol of greed and international finance. We're in rough shape.

National Socialism succeeded in Germany partly because of terminology and symbiology. The name was obviously original and is quite distinctive. It is first of all national and serves the interests of country above all, which appealed to the battered nationalist sentiments of the Germans. The term "socialist" or "workers' party" serves a dual purpose. At the time Marxism was at the height of its power and was considered not only the most "moral" movement but the only choice for workers (who, not knowing better, blamed their ills on the capitalists who employed them) and inevitable. National Socialism stole their wind by providing an "alternative" for disgruntled workers, with whom Hitler was most familiar, while denouncing the degenerate internationalism of Marxism. The movement was even stronger with symbols: the swastika was an ancient Aryan symbol with positive connotations while the eagle on many devices represented strength.

I recommend reading the essay I shared earlier regarding all this.

I agree with you that we need something that shows our ideals, but it has to appeal to mass politics. Otherwise, if you're not interested in actually winning, you might as well plaster your car with bumper stickers. What people tend to ignore is how symbols should represent culture. Marxists use the hammer and sickle everywhere because it is an international movement by default. We cannot use the swastika everywhere and expect people to suddenly love Hitler.

The hakenkreuz exists among multiple cultures but, in the minds of Germans, was distinctively German. There may be hope for it resurfacing in Germany but forget about it ever succeeding in America. Firstly, there is no cultural context for the swastika: it is distinctly foreign. Except for Americans who have been considerably redpilled (which is a lengthy process and involves researching considerable history) it is also an enemy by default. Most Americans believe in the myth of WW2 being a war between fascism and freedom: therefore, to fly the swastika is, in their mind, cultural defeatism and something that undoes our history (a good symbol always reinforces national history, never goes against it). The swastika once meant something else, but now it's associated negatively with Hitler who, being foreign, could never be a "true American" hero. Even if you manage to break the system down by taking down its institutions, the majority of Americans will view you as a foreign menace (as we view communists) and will fight you on principle.

The inverse exists for American symbology. The Gadsen Flag has a positive cultural connotation for most Americans as it evokes the original act of rebellion against the British crown. It is centered around self-defense, self-reliance, and respect for property, and is therefore one of the strongest symbols (or memes) the libertarian right in America has. However, it could never fly in European countries. Besides the English words on the flag (America has always had a loose respect for vexillology, just look at our state flags!), the symbol of the snake is generally negative in most cultures. In America it works because the rattlesnake (a native animal) represents strength in non-aggression. In other countries it represents deceit, treachery, weakness, and coldness.

The Confederate flag is in-between. As the swastika is in Germany the Stars and Bars represent a "racist, hateful, and failed regime" and will receive such a response in most parts of the country. However, it remains a powerful symbol of organized rebellion against a corrupt and oppressive central government for the cause of freedom. It doubles as a national symbol for Dixie, as every part of the flag has a purpose and it is inextricably tied with the region. The Confederate Battle Flag could be flown in other countries, but only as part of a "brothers-in-arms/united in spirit" message for secessionists and other anti-globalists.

I must disagree with you: there is much more to a political movement than mere ideals, which will interest only the 10% of the population (if not fewer) who have the time, intellect, and interest. Yes, I am speaking to you from a marketing perspective, but that's because this stuff works. It's why you eat Oreos and not Hydrox.

Alt-right is an umbrella term fabricated by the DNC. Are you going to accept your enemy's label or will you stop and assess your own values? What does alt right even mean? Everyone has a different opinion. Calling yourself something that's perceived so subjectively is a really bad idea.

This is a lot of text but I hope I'm not being disingenuous by summarizing your argument in these statements you made.
>Here's the thing, though: names and symbols matter when it comes to public consciousness.
>I agree with you that we need something that shows our ideals, but it has to appeal to mass politics.
>Yes, I am speaking to you from a marketing perspective, but that's because this stuff works.

This is the reddit mentality I was talking about, sure its fine to want to make change but your going about it wrong. One thing that has always annoyed me about the average argument against communism is its >lol doesn't work. This is a bad argument. Same with your arguments made against national socialism and to a degree confederate nationalism. So what if it doesn't include Slavs and unite white people? So what if we end up losing because the symbolism isn't normie friendly and scares people away? Does that mean its not something worth fighting for if it is right? You see making things normie friendly isn't hard in the end, pushing a negative long enough can cause people to view it positively, like how must Americans view Marxism today. Same goes with other ideas like national socialism or confederate nationalism.

Moreover the reddit mentality is doing things because you want to push a goal rather then find what is true or not. Think of a pub, where people come to talk about a given subject, say politics. Everyone walks in wearing a mask. People will argue their hearts and souls out talking about what they believe till something is agreed upon by all rational people willing to listen. Someone who comes in trying to sell an idea, or isn't willing to listen is either called a redditor or a shill on /pol/ for a reason, because their view on things is made up which is why they want to sell their stuff rather then just enjoy the arguments. I said its fine to want to change minds but wanting to do it only to "win" will end with you losing in the end, because what your selling isn't really what you want, its the end goal that you want like a merchant not wanting the goods he's trying to sell but the money made in the end.

You are somewhat right in this. I joined the Chans only six months ago and my field is in marketing so it's natural that I have a results-oriented, even "normie" or "reddit" (never used it tbh) outlook.

Don't get me wrong, my only desire is for the truth. That's why I'm here rather than on some normie-tier forum (though, I am part of some normie chat rooms and I have had decent success redpilling some of them). Why care about optics at all on an obscure, anonymous imageboard? The Overton Window doesn't exist here and even a commie can come here if he wants (though, he'll be rightfully publicly shamed for being so indoctrinated after all his talking points are debunked).

The wider world is not a friendly pub or an anonymous imageboard. People are not openminded. They do not argue for arguments' sake, nor will all "rational" people find agreement. Hidden motives and agendas are plentiful and groups of people, including our (((enemy))) will do what they can to win. The emergence of the alt-right was partially out of the recognition that we cannot always be high-minded idealists: sometimes we need to use identity politics, sometimes we need to use Alinsky's rules, but whatever we do must be in the service of truth.

As for the goals I have, they extend naturally from the Western love of truth. Without them truth will perish. They are:

Saving the white race
Preserving tradition
Rekindling a love and preservation of liberty

How this is accomplished is up to debate. My argument is that symbols take second place to ideals. The Confederate Battle Flag in the American South, the Swastika in Germany, and the wheel-shaped Hakenkreuz in Slavic countries serve the same purpose: they are rejections of globalism and progressivism and represent a pride in one's culture. We need a Korwin in every country to be the radical in politics yet be astute and rational such that no honest man could refute what he has to say. The honest men on our side will overthrow the system one way or another and replace it with what they think to be best.
