I think something may have changed within the past year. I've had to login to join the streams that others have been hosting. I don't know if it's just not possible to join anonymously or if it's some host setting.

At least a year ago, it was possible to join the rooms without an account. I remember that the anonymous user portraits were assorted pictures of bunnies.

At least within the past six months, I haven't been able to join without logging in. I had initially assumed that it was some room setting that was toggled on by the host. We used to have a few problems with trolls shitting up the streams, and I thought that the hosts were just trying to clamp down on that. However I can't find any such setting now that I'm looking for it, so I guess the change was site wide.
