It's a puppet. The pro-Russian administration preceding it wasn't much better but at least it wasn't a convenient focal point for Democrat saber-rattlers. I don't really care what the west part of Ukraine wants but they shouldn't force Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk to stick around.

I'm from Donetsk and I absolutely despise everything related to russia now to the point of pure hostility.
I also know of none from my relatives/friends/acquaintances who fled to russia, rather than migrating to Kiev/Kharkov/Dnepr. The only one, who now remain in the Donetsk and Lugansk are either poor as fuck (like almost hobo-level poor, because there are state subsidies and help-programs, I, for one now get a university grant at Kievan Polytechnical only becaus i'm from that region), dumb as fuck or criminal as fuck (marauding, creating new DNR/LNR goverments, with the same surnames, who were on the newspaper headlines in the criminal chronics in the 90s after the collapse), oh and also the interventionists from russia, that are estimated to be as high as 30% of all manpower terrorist have fighting against goverment there.
Can't say anything about Crimea, though. They always had their own atmosphere there.

I have a lot of friends from Crimea, who now live and study in Kiev with me. They say that it kinda sucks to have electricity only till 22.00 and have to grab drinking water in bottles :^) But they say that majority there is anyway too strongly brainwashed, so they obediently w8 for Putin to build that ebin bridge already and scream FUKEN WESTERNS STOLE OUR ELECTRICITY!! whenever they have their power cut down.

Not leading, unfortunately, as if in the highest echelons, but we got a huge package of decommunisation laws, changed name of the streets, and owning/spreading or showing commie symbolics is a 5 year criminal offence here.
Oh and we also almost everyone dressing in the national dresses with swastikas on the independence day and paramilitary organization of the so called "national guard" all which also use rather interesting symbols…
But, though stuff like that warms my heart immensly, economics is still in ruin, just as badly as in russia.

I prefer to look at it at the angle that our army is just in as much ruin as the rest of the country.

Newer ones are made exactly like in your country (suprising, duh). Old ones aka "historical center" though don't get enough maintenance, because of funds stealing.

Our country was always a granary of the USSR, even in this deep decline, what-what we DO have is enough food to feed all the people many times over, because there is no Stalin to starve everyone, while stockpiles are full of rotting food due to incompetency and greed.

Everything is _okay_ for a middle class, but not good or great, as long as you have your higher eduction you will have enough. And by "enough" I mean enough to live, meanwhile getting all the necessary skills and grounding to migrate to europe/NA, because, unfortunately to everyone clever enough it is absolutely evident, that this country won't come to prosperity in their lifetime even in the brightest of the possible scenarios.
Oh, and we also don't have to get visa to visit Europe anymore, which is a great boon, which I myself enjoyed this autumn.

Most Americans don't have a clue what is going on internationally. Hell, most Americans don't know what is happening domestically. 99% of European news never makes it here. We know about as much about Ukraine as we do Ireland. Almost nothing.

Ukraine is a stupid state. The eastern quarter (maybe less, certainly Crimea at least) is favorable to the Russians, the western quarter is pretty much just poland-lite, and the remaining half is impoverished gopniks. Great women in the country, but Ukraine has garbage cities.
