I'm pretty sure that they'll wear work clothes if it benefits their career. Applejack is almost always depicted with her hat, I swear other farmer ponies are occasionally depicted in overalls or other tough worker's clothes, and the palace guard wears armor. Admittedly the palace guard armor additionally serves a decorative purpose, but there are other examples of ponies wearing practical clothing. For example, these construction ponies with their hard hats, toolbelts, and high visibility vests.

Well, in a literal sense, clothing is used by the show-makers as a way to anthropromorphize the characters and/or indicate their occupations, and the situation they're in.
They also help for product placement. There may have once been some theoetical some line of removable dresses that Hasjew may have been looking into cash in on at some point. Clothes also identify roles of characters in iconic events of the show, like the Royal Wedding, for example, so they serve as good material for consumer products: one of the biggest moneymaker for company.

That would make sense a type of pony adaptation and breeding system. I wonder if the other races have teeth or bones as strong as the earth ponies? Like I have always heard the theories about pegasi having hallow bones like birds and that is why they can fly. That also ties into the scootaloo theory is that she had a twin that was an earth pony and merged with them in the womb and that is why she can fly is because she has the wings of a pegasi but the bones of an earth pony.

I dunno, I just can't get into hooves. I have a big socks, stockings, tights fetish and the reason I have that fetish is that the girl wearing either of the three is that feet are very sensitive and socks and the sort give a sort of pleasure nothing else I can think of can. She feels the soft comfort on her feet and legs and like I said, socks and the sort give a certain kind of pleasure nothing else can, not like a sexual pleasure but a sort of pleasure I can't place.

Now hooves on irl horses and ponies are very hard and bony, due to the animal running and treading fast on rugged terrain. Sure there's spots on the hoof that the pony can feel but nothing I'd imagine like a human foot would. Due to that, if a pony was wearing socks or the sort, I think it would only feel only a little but of the pleasure I mentioned above and it wouldn't notice as much its wearing socks like a person would. I'd imagine ponies in MLP have similar hooves cause throughout the show when the ponies run, you can hear the same clopping noise a actual pony would make running. That's the main reason I can't get into hooves, they wouldn't feel as much on their hooves as people feel in their feet.
