Grey Market Pharmaceuticals and Medical Tourism

As well all know the U.S. Healthcare system is a failing institution. Many people are turning to Grey Market Pharmaceuticals and Medical Tourism as solutions to avoid ridiculous healthcare costs. As with any procedure or medicine there are risks and some times the pharmaceuticals work as good or even better than prescription medications. Some foreign medicines and hospitals are better than others, but again same here. Is foreign competition the solution to the American Healthcare System?

I notice we have some new users from the middle east. I'm very curious what healthcare is like there as UAE and Turkey are popular medical tourism destinations.

So yeah , in places like turkey , uae , iran , qatar , bahrain , and some others , they've got these pretty solid health insurance systems for their own people. It's kinda like a more 'socialist' version than in europe, actually.
That means for most normal stuff(like doctor visits, basic treatments, checkups)it's really cheap or even free if you're a citizen.
From what i've seen , it actually works pretty well. At least in turkey , i can totally confirm that. I'm not 100% sure about the rest , but from what i heard , it's more or less the same deal.
Now of course , if you're getting some fancy surgery or advanced treatment , it can still cost a lot , but even then , the quality's decent and people are mostly happy.
What really stands out is that a lot of foreigners come to these countries for cosmetic surgeries or dental work , mostly because it's way cheaper than in the west , and the quality is good enough.
Even though they don't have local insurance and have to pay full price , it still ends up being worth it , which is why medical tourism is a big thing in these places.
In turkey , the balance between cost and quality feels just right. In iran , it's probably cheaper , but maybe a bit more limited in some areas. And in the Gulf countries , it's usually fancier , but yeah , also more expensive.
So yeah , that's the vibe. I don't know exactly how things work in europe or the us , but from what i've seen , healthcare in the middle east is usually pretty solid for locals , and affordable for visitors.
Also , i kinda think the fact that healthcare is cheap and decent quality actually brings in more patients , which in turn keeps doctors and surgeons busy and well-paid too.
Like , i guess that a doctor or surgeon in the middle east makes relatively good money , maybe even better than in some western countries.
That's just my feeling though. I mean , wherever you go , locals always complain about their own healthcare system , that's just how it is.
It's just that i've seen a bit of how it works in the us and europe , so i feel like i have a better perspective and maybe complain a bit less.

I know cosmetic surgeries are big in Turkey. I had a coworker go there for transplants. What are the cancer treatments like in the area? I know China and Singapore are good destinations for cancer treatments. I would guess that UAE can afford talented doctors too.
