>>307600One hurdle for adding is that we don't have custom flags implemented which is the way 4chan does it, so I would have to add that function to the code. But I will look into how easy it would be to add and how much work it would take. But there is good arguments both for and against having custom flags so in the end whether to add or not is not fully hashed out. Also depends on what you the users want.
An alternative I can also look into is adding them as custom emojis which could be fun/useful for greens.
>>307603If a sixth image slot was added per post for small images only, could that be coded to work as a replacement for your current flag for the individual post?
this could allow poner flags and meme flags without any "please add my flag next" spam
I'll see how I feel about it in a week, but on first impression I think I'd rather just post a picture of my waifu like I do already. My Pinkie folder grows daily.
>>307603custom emojis does sound like a better idea overall, and
>>307604 seems like a nice alternative method for implementing the flag part
>>307603just do what this does and add the pone tags besides the regular flags
https://gitlab.com/flagtism/Extra-Flags-for-4chan Like I give a shit.
/mlp/ has tags because they are butthurt pussies who have been whining about it for centuries. We have tags because we are discussing very pressing political issues. Tagging yourself means labeling your identity. And while it's giggles and shit to post ponies where they don't belong, labeling yourself as one where it's contextually inappropriate is of bad taste and should not be encouraged. Politics wise, tags are better used as flags and flags only. Otherwise mlpol will be a place for niggers.
>but this is good for greens.
This is nothing but a nuance, a shitty one to be honest. Pony tags will add nothing to this community.
Anonymous poster is an entity that one shall not besmirch by labeling it something that it is not. It's an icon of interaction that should be preserved in its purest form, free from a fucking pony attached to its name. For the same reason people hate trip fags because they only hear when they talk. So, mods, don't fetishize our representation of ourselves. It will hurt your status quo.
Consider this. When you sage a thread with horse pussy, you are a third party. Seeing you with a pony tag will immediately make you less of a party representative and more of a dweeb. Don't underestimate what we are given, my friends. You can attach ponies to your posts and this should be enough.
>>307603Is the flag code just straight tied in to the IP shit? They can be disabled per post instead of per board, would probably be easiest to disable the flag and slip a little <img> in as an alternative instead of trying to fuck with the flag code
>>307609Maybe also this
>>307610>>307611>post ponies where they don't belong>don't belong>>307612>blabla something party *retarded name calling*This isn't a political debate subreddit, buddy. Pony belongs everywhere
>>307603I am bad at wording my arguments (as I've shown with my previous posts) but I strongly suggest against this idea of adding pony tags. Here are my justifications:
-pony tags will create potential roleplaying hazard,
-pony tags will attract shills and outsiders,
-with pony tags, flag tags will cease their purpose,
-with pony tags the ratio between /mlp/ and /pol/ features will be out of proportion,
-pony tags will make mlpol feel like it is a discord server.
-adding pony tags will mean that mlpol tries to copy /mlp/.
-adding pony tags will change mlpol forever.
>>307610>>post ponies where they don't belong>>don't belong>don't belong>post ponies where they don't belong>>307615>with pony tags, flag tags will cease their purposeThis is a good point though, they're called meme flaggots for a reason on 4/pol/. For shill spotting purposes it would likely be best to keep the flags as they are. I wouldn't be opposed to having pony emojis but as previously mentioned
>>307605 I think no change is just as good.
>>307624Sometimes I even wonder about flags. I have been thinking before that I should post with an american flag through a vpn more just because I'm so identifiable.
>>307622>post ponies where they don't belongI was a little pissed and I had to write something quick so I don't know what I meant by that.
>>307626So you were. I catch myself doing that sometimes too.
>>307625>I have been thinking before that I should post with an american flag through a vpn more just because I'm so identifiable. On a sitewide level if that's something you're concerned about then I think that would be a more advantageous solution. Just thinking of when we had a communist visitor two weeks or so ago, he stuck out like a sore thumb because he didn't use flags or was cycling through them really quickly. Also for aesthetic purposes I like having the flags there myself. Doesn't altogether matter which one.
>>307615This anon has a good point
There needs to be a balance between /mlp/ and /pol/ to truly be /mlpol/
It would be cool to have pony emoticons on the site
you could do a Twilight Sparkle rolling eyes emoticon when someone says they are a communist
or do a Pinkie Pie laughing emoticon when someone says real communism has never been tried.
>>307615Well, mostly this. But I'm also against because they're gay.
>>307615>-with pony tags, flag tags will cease their purposesimply do like the extra flags script i mentioned
>>307609 and add the pone flag/tags to the right of the country flag
>>307646and if you want to be specific about it you could make it so that if you select for your flag to not appear(like on his post), the the pone disappears as well.
Got Pony Emojis working on my dev instance and will probably update the sites code in the coming days (or tomorrow) adding this. With the usual caveat that I hope I won't add any bugs by doing this.
Regarding adding them as flags we haven't taken any definitive stance on that yet. But might be leaning against adding them as it will just add clutter. Perhaps adding the Pony Emojis in the Name field is one way to appease all and not add any complexity.
>>307615wtf is this retarded ramble "roleplaying hazard", "changed forever"
Emojis are fine so I'm down as long as it doesn't replace flaggots. Though I don't understand why people improve things that are perfectly fine for what they are worth. Said the guy who keeps updating element of justice after nearly a year from its release.
>>307629The bird on this picture looks like twitter.
>>307665You would be astonished how readily certain individuals will grasp and delve onto/into this thing, that thing, anything available if it means avoiding doing their actual job
>>307667If you mean procrastination then I do get you. I am suffering from it myself.
>>307668Theres a fine line between procrastination and willful dereliction of duty. Everyone does the former, but alas I am referring to the latter
>>307669You sound like a very drunk fimfiction writer.
Did update of code but had a bug so I had to revert. Sorry for inconvenience anyone experienced. Hopefully I will have it up again in a few.
Okay, homing 2nd try works out better. Think I got it working now as it should.
Added the option to add pony emojis to the posts. To add one start by adding a colon : and then a menu will pop up where you can choose the pony you want or keep typing to narrow down the choice. Hope this is becomes useful and not just clutter.
Let me know if you encounter any bugs.
>>307788 Well, I retract the gay label. I like these ponies.
Thanks Pupper.
This is gay bullshit unless you add pony pussy.
>>307797That is a great point and I agree we should have some. I can add all the pony pussy desired, but I am not good at pixel art at all. So if you know of a set of 16x16px (the size of the other pony emojis) pony pussy art or have the skills to make some I can add them to the selection. I can try to make some but I fear they won't be as appealing or realistic as an artist could make them. I really want to have it now too.
:mlpol:
A curious oversight, given the overzealous and questionable speed and intensity with which this was implemented, as well as the underwhelming 'demand'. Well, I suppose as long as other staff-related issues arent being overlooked and swept under the rug
Not really having a 16x16 opens up a wide array of potential pixel art. Just stitching it together, then making sure the coordinates are correct with the right name.
Political memes, and hoser pussy, and /mlpol/ paraphernalia is all possible. Just need the artwork side of things.
So not so much an oversight, but a resource depression.
Plus fun is fun. It's a positive point to recuperate.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about multi tile pixel art on here.
Removed the tail because it does't fucking fit. This is rd by the way.
This is the best result so far. Bottom end of the pussy is easy to make sense of.
>>307823Looks really nice. Will add it to the list (perhaps an IWTCI for full mane six would be nice). Let me know if you feel it needs tweaking before adding.
>>307825Zala was not in the list of pony emojis I used for adding so it would need to be pixelartified first.
>>307833Yes an Leslie Fair would be nice to have. But would need to be pixelarted too.
Where I found the pixel art for reference
https://duendeinexistente.neocities.org/flags/ Remove the white bg when importing though.
>>307887>>307889Awesome work (added all the pussy and Leslie)
Now if only the policy page wasnt a steaming pile of lies, we'd be set!
Pussy express now leaving the city.
Next stop - Cumlandia.
>>307958>madPerish the thought! It's always hilarious when so-called principled individuals put the shoe on their other foot. Rubbing people's nose in their misdeeds is a bit of a pastime of mine
>>307988What the fuck are you talking about
>>308007The short version? Staff has operated in violation of staff rules 1 and 2 for years now. But nevermind, that's not important to deal with.
But tiny pony images? STOP EVERYTHING!
>>308032Please, provide examples(proof) of these violations. It would be intresting to here your persepective.
>>308035fwiw april fools' raid threads have been condoned by staff
but I'm pretty sure this was discussed years ago, starting with asking us whether or not the site should appear on search engines or stay underground, back then it was already accepted that it would kill rules 1 and 2.
>>308044I'm not sure what fwiw is right now but I think that
>>308032 and you are talking about different rules. He is reafering to the staff rules 1 and 2 while you are talking about the previous rules about not talking about MLPOL elsewhere.
>>308044Raiding is good when it's smart and for a good cause
>>308035>>308045Context is important, so I have to go back to the beginning. The first example of staff d9verg9ng from the stated policy happened several years ago. An ind9v9dual on stagg was found to have deliberately targeted and harrassed a user amd was removed from their position. In response, several individuals (self included) begged/petitioned stafg/Atlas to show leniency. AMD he did, amd the staff member was forgiven and reinstated.
While the outcome was amicable and one I personally pushed for, it still set the initial precedent of going against staff rule 1
>>308053There were several such incidents over time, of varying degrees of abuse. Atlas would give the individual a stern talking to, forgive them, and carry on. No attempt would be made to abide by the policy, ostensibly and comprehensibly erring on the side of friendship.
I wanna say there were 3 major instances of this, but I'm bad about maintaining proof/records. Having been 'there's to witness however, I can state these things with certainty.
The rule 2 infractions came later, most notably when Atlas was handing off the reigns of the site. In spite of particular individuals pushing for it, a deliberate effort was made to not inform the site. I dont mean to strawman, bit it was felt that an announcement of Atlas' departure would somehow negatively affect the site's reputation, standing, and morale with/among users.
Like you guys are children who cant handle the thought of people's lives changing and for things to be slightly different than previous, essentially in names onlyThat's the short version.
