One hurdle for adding is that we don't have custom flags implemented which is the way 4chan does it, so I would have to add that function to the code. But I will look into how easy it would be to add and how much work it would take. But there is good arguments both for and against having custom flags so in the end whether to add or not is not fully hashed out. Also depends on what you the users want.
An alternative I can also look into is adding them as custom emojis which could be fun/useful for greens.

/mlp/ has tags because they are butthurt pussies who have been whining about it for centuries. We have tags because we are discussing very pressing political issues. Tagging yourself means labeling your identity. And while it's giggles and shit to post ponies where they don't belong, labeling yourself as one where it's contextually inappropriate is of bad taste and should not be encouraged. Politics wise, tags are better used as flags and flags only. Otherwise mlpol will be a place for niggers.

It's an icon of interaction that should be preserved in its purest form, free from a fucking pony attached to its name. I am bad at wording my arguments (as I've shown with my previous posts) but I strongly suggest against this idea of adding pony tags. Here are my justifications:

-pony tags will create potential roleplaying hazard,
-pony tags will attract shills and outsiders,
-with pony tags, flag tags will cease their purpose,
-with pony tags the ratio between /mlp/ and /pol/ features will be out of proportion,
-pony tags will make mlpol feel like it is a discord server.
-adding pony tags will mean that mlpol tries to copy /mlp/.

On a sitewide level if that's something you're concerned about then I think that would be a more advantageous solution. Just thinking of when we had a communist visitor two weeks or so ago, he stuck out like a sore thumb because he didn't use flags or was cycling through them really quickly. Also for aesthetic purposes I like having the flags there myself. Doesn't altogether matter which one.

Got Pony Emojis working on my dev instance and will probably update the sites code in the coming days (or tomorrow) adding this. With the usual caveat that I hope I won't add any bugs by doing this.
Regarding adding them as flags we haven't taken any definitive stance on that yet. But might be leaning against adding them as it will just add clutter. Perhaps adding the Pony Emojis in the Name field is one way to appease all and not add any complexity.

Okay, homing 2nd try works out better. Think I got it working now as it should.

Added the option to add pony emojis to the posts. To add one start by adding a colon : and then a menu will pop up where you can choose the pony you want or keep typing to narrow down the choice. Hope this is becomes useful and not just clutter.

That is a great point and I agree we should have some. I can add all the pony pussy desired, but I am not good at pixel art at all. So if you know of a set of 16x16px (the size of the other pony emojis) pony pussy art or have the skills to make some I can add them to the selection. I can try to make some but I fear they won't be as appealing or realistic as an artist could make them. I really want to have it now too.

Not really having a 16x16 opens up a wide array of potential pixel art. Just stitching it together, then making sure the coordinates are correct with the right name.

Context is important, so I have to go back to the beginning. The first example of staff d9verg9ng from the stated policy happened several years ago. An ind9v9dual on stagg was found to have deliberately targeted and harrassed a user amd was removed from their position. In response, several individuals (self included) begged/petitioned stafg/Atlas to show leniency. AMD he did, amd the staff member was forgiven and reinstated.
While the outcome was amicable and one I personally pushed for, it still set the initial precedent of going against staff rule 1

I dont mean to strawman, bit it was felt that an announcement of Atlas' departure would somehow negatively affect the site's reputation, standing, and morale with/among users. Like you guys are children who cant handle the thought of people's lives changing and for things to be slightly different than previous, essentially in names only
