You can also recover all the thousands of images they deleted thanks to their autistic DNP policy from Rome Silvanus' archive. It's got metadata files as well from which you can grep the tags. I made a script to do that.
Faggotbooru is a fandom cancer everyone complains about on /mlp/ whenever some retard asks the admins to nuke his stuff and they happily comply, but doesn't seem an issue anybody is willing to address in any way. I don't care about being able to comment images or have any sort of discussion on an image booru, but having a place that actually archives shit indefinitely instead of subjecting it to the whims of some autist would be nice.
I considered keeping a full backup myself more than once, actually, and even sharing it with other people with Hydrus and its server capabilities but right now I don't have >2TB of space to dedicate at home, and don't have the knowledge, time and willingness to spend money to rent a VPS and make a clone site there.
If somebody has the means and will to do it, you'll have my support, however limited. Maybe this place will accomplish something, unlike /mlp/.

how about a decentralized booru, as long as we're remaking something? another derpibooru would be a big, tempting single point of failure. the same people who ruin derpibooru would be able to attack and infiltrate it.

Writing an image board program to use GNUnet might be an option. https://gnunet.org it'd swarm downloads, and be super duper hard to attack.

Maybe some image gallery rigged into https://retroshare.cc to use Retroshare to swarm image downloads?
