As an economic, and military perspective its great. Lots of natural resources. Closer to Europe, and Russia for both trade, and as a just in case measure. Reducing the need for allies in that region,but not entirely.
If the article is to be believed it's a net loss for Denmark. 70 million dollars is nothing to sneeze at, but not that much for a successful country.
It also can be a closer launching point for U.S. economic forces.
But if the US did buy it Canada would be surrounded on all sides.
Either through a military intervention, or economic brow beating Canada would then be brought into the fold...
Not to mention being close to the North Pole.
If Canada is assimilated then Mexico, and other South America countries can be gotten...
