>The United States may be forced to scale back certain operations in Europe and elsewhere if countries continue to do business with the Chinese telecommunications company Huawei, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday in a new warning that underscores U.S. concerns about the firm.
All the "deep concern" regarding Huawei by US is obviously not just because of the Chinese state potentially having access to valuable data (tho data is increasingly valuable and ofc if the 5G company where American under the PATRIOT act data would have to be shared with US intelligence agencies). It's also clearly a sign of the economical and technological war going on between the US and China.
>>206249 >>206250 ayo, so basically exit polls show the new Gantz-Lapid alliance (center-left) is winning over Bibi's likud, but they still don’t have a majority bloc(need minimum 61) to form a coalition, unless they let the Arab parties in (very unlikely).
So likud and bibi can lose the general vote but still retain power since the right wing bloc(other parties e.g Lieberman) is still bigger overall.
but everything could change if AG decides to indict Bibi before the elections. Bibi is clearly panicking tho, he delayed his meeting with Putin and had a PR meltdown on national TV.

I still think the key to his reelection would be that the Dems are still very fractured right now, they have so many constituent elements that they can't possibly satisfy if they don't find a common theme to unite under. Republicans are fairly straightforward and united on common goals, and most voters will consolidate behind the main candidate. When it comes to Democrats though, you have the old school "blue dogs" which are more geared toward the working class, then you have the moderates, followed by the LGBT tranny lovers, the socialists, the hippies, and the commies. A lot of these topics for them are interchangeable, for instance some moderates will also support the tranny lovers, but overall the Dems on the west coast are much different than the ones on the east coast. If I had to pick a candidate who would have the best shot I would think Joe Biden would have the best chance, he has an appeal to most of the various special interests of Dems, as opposed to Bernie Sanders for instance who veers fairly far left and would have issues getting the black vote. >>206406 shitty work internet wouldn't display the alternate translations. >>206407 work has been slow as shit, so I have been getting out earlier and taking the chance to spend more time with my sons.

Units of the Syrian Arab Army on Friday responded to terrorist organizations’ breaches of the de-escalation zone agreement by targeting their positions with intensive strikes in the southeastern countryside of Idleb.

Hama, SANA – The army on Sunday responded to terrorist groups’ breaches of the de-escalation zone agreement as they attempted to sneak from the surroundings of Latamina and Hasraya towns into military points in northern Hama.
SANA reporter in Hama said that the army units dealt with the terrorists’ infiltration attempts from the outskirts of Latamina and Hasraya towns towards military points in Hama northern countryside, using the appropriate weapons.
A number of the terrorists were killed and their dens were destroyed.

Meanwhile, terrorist organizations continued their violations of the de-escalation zones agreement by launching shells on safe areas in Mhardah in Hama northern countryside.
SANA reporter said that terrorist groups, positioned in al-Latamneh town in the northern countryside, attacked with several rocket shells the town Zalin to the East of Mhardah in Hama north-western countryside, causing only material damage.
The reporter added that the army responded to the terrorist attacks, destroying fortifications and dens of the terrorists.

Theory: Syria has lost patience and are about to go into Idlib, with the Iranians providing background support. Syria does have the legal right to reclaim their sovereign soil; with Russia, Iran and even Turkey supporting 100% sovereignty and integrity of Syria in official statements.
>>207143 I'm willing to bet the Turks won't fight the Syrian army as Idlib is almost 100% controlled by literally Al-Qaeda, and that would be extremely bad form for the Turks to be openly supporting a designated terrorist group. >>207206 wait for more news things are still not cleared up yet this is response of the Indian defence ministry >Indian defence ministry says no information about air violations into Pakistan NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India’s defence ministry said on Tuesday that it had no information about Pakistani allegations that Indian aircraft violated Pakistani airspace.
Pakistan’s military said that Indian military aircraft crossed the Line of Control frontier in the disputed Kashmir region and “released a payload” after Pakistan scrambled its own jets, but there were no casualties or damage.
while this is the statement of indian foregin ministry >India Says Many 'Eliminated' in Strike on Jaish Camp, 'Grave Aggression' Says Pakistan New Delhi: Indian Air Force fighter jets went across to the Line of Control early on Tuesday morning. India’s foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale said in a press briefing at 11:30 am that a terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot was destroyed, and a large number of terrorists were eliminated.
The foreign secretary termed the airstrike as “non-military” preemptive action, and said it was “absolutely necessary” as the government had “credible intelligence” that Jaish-e-Mohammad was attempting more suicide terror attacks in various parts of the country and fidayeen jihadis were being trained for this purpose.
The terror camp that was destroyed, Gokhale said, was run by Masood Azhar’s brother-in-law, Maulana Yousuf Azhar. It was targeted as it was far away from civilian settlements and the strike would not lead to any civilian casualties.
“The existence of such massive training facilities capable to training hundreds of jehadis could not have functioned without knowledge of Pakistan authorities,” Gokhale said.
Gokhale hit out at Pakistan for not taking action despite knowing about possible terror camps. “India has been repeatedly urging Pakistan to take action against the JeM to prevent jihadis from being trained and armed inside Pakistan. Pakistan has taken no concrete action to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism on its soil,” he said.
Like in the press conference after the 2016 surgical strikes, only a statement was read out and there was no Q&A. However, while in 2016 there was a joint press conference by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, this time only the foreign secretary was present.
>Pakistani villagers say one person wounded in Indian air strike BALAKOT, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani villagers in the area where Indian jets struck what officials in New Delhi said was a militant training camp said they heard four loud bangs in the early hours of Tuesday but reported only one person wounded by bomb shards.
>Pakistani villagers shaken awake as Indian warplanes drop bombs near madrasa BALAKOT, Pakistan (Reuters) - Villagers near the town of Balakot in northeast Pakistan were shaken out of their sleep by what seemed like an earthquake in the early hours of Tuesday, only discovering once dawn broke that there had been an Indian airstrike on their neighborhood.
Indian officials said the raid destroyed a training camp of Jaish-e- Mohammed, the militant group behind a suicide attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 40 members of a paramilitary police force on Feb. 14. India’s foreign secretary said “a very large number of JEM terrorists” had been eliminated in what was the first Indian air strike on Pakistani territory since 1971.
The villagers, however, said only one person was wounded in the attack and they knew of no fatalities.
A resident, who did not want to give his name, said there was a nearby madrasa run by Jaish, though most villagers were guarded talking about their militant neighbors.
“There is this madrasa on the hilltop. The Jaish-e-Mohammed runs it,” he said.
Another person, who also declined to give his name said the militants had had a presence in the area for years.
“I belong to that area. I know for sure that there has been a training camp. It used to be there. I know Jaish people ran it,” he said.
“This camp was turned into a madrasa several years ago, but no one would still be allowed to get close to this infrastructure. There are scores of students in the madrasa at any given time,” he said.
Set in a wooded, hilly area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on the way to the scenic Kaghan valley, some 40 kilometers from the de facto border with India, Balakot was of many towns that was devastated by as massive earthquake in 2005.
From what villagers could see, the Indian attack had missed its target as the bombs dropped exploded about a kilometer away from the madrasa.
India confirms air strikes inside Pakistan Mohammad Ajmal, a 25 year-old villager near Jaba Top, where the attack took place, said he had heard four loud bangs in succession just before 3.00 a.m. (2200 GMT).
“We couldn’t tell what had happened. It was only in the morning that we figured out it was an attack,” he told Reuters after visiting the site, in a wooded hilltop area.
“We saw fallen trees and one damaged house, and four craters where the bombs had fallen.”

Security forces of the Hamas Movement arrested the leader of the Iranian-backed Sabireen Movement, Hisham Salim, and many of the group’s fighters in a surprise operation on February 27, according to the al-Arabiya TV.
The Sabireen group was formed in early 2014 after some leaders in Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), including Salim, converted to Shia Islam and became dissatisfied with PIJ’s leadership and their stance as well as Hamas’s stance regarding the Syrian war, where it supported the Syrian Opposition.
Salim acknowledged in an interview with the Ma’an News Agency in 2016 that the movement is directly funded by Iran. However, he stressed that his group was non-sectarian, non-religious and not a “Shiite movement.”
In late 2018, the U.S. designated the Sabireen Movement as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) for carrying several attacks against Israel.
“They planned and executed terrorist attacks include firing rockets into Israel in September 2015 and detonating an explosive device targeting an Israeli army patrol in December 2015. Harakat al-Sabireen also previously established a rocket factory in Gaza that was destroyed in the summer of 2014, and the group had plans to carry out attacks against Israel in February 2016,” the Department of State said in an official statement back then.
The Iranian support for the movement was apparently viewed as a threat not only by the U.S. and Israel, but also by several Arab countries. A Palestinian source told al-Arabiya that the Hamas Movement took the decision to neutralize the group and seize its weapons upon request from Qatar and Egypt.
The operation against the Sabireen Movement will likely lead to the growth of tensions between the Hamas Movement and Iran, who cut down its financial support for the Palestinian group recently, according to al-Arabiya.
Israel, Russia mull creating group on foreign forces pullout from Syria – report
Israel and Russia intend to set up a working group, involving a number of other states, which will facilitate the withdrawal of foreign forces from Syria, a high-ranking source in the Israeli government told Sputnik on Wednesday.
“It was decided to create a group with the participation of Russia, Israel and several other countries, which will work on the issue of the withdrawal of foreign forces from Syria”, the official said after the talks. He declined, however, to specify the details of the initiative, including the countries that could be involved in the process in addition to Israel and Russia.

An Iraqi lawmaker alleged on Wednesday that the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is traveling freely “under U.S. military protection” in the desert of western Iraq. “IS [Daesh] leader Baghdadi is in the Western Desert in Anbar province under U.S. military’s protection… He travels between Iraq and Syria protected by the United States”, Iraqi lawmaker Hassan Salem said, as quoted by the Lebanese El-Nashra news outlet. The lawmaker claimed that support of the Islamic State leader was provided from the Ayn al-Asad Airbase, where U.S. troops are currently deployed. Salem added that the United States “supported Baghdadi out of concerns over the possible endorsement of a bill expelling U.S. troops from Iraq”. Veteran journalist Elijah Magnier reported earlier this week that Baghdadi was believed to be hiding in the last Islamic State enclave in the Euphrates River Valley. Citing an Iraqi intel officer, Magnier said the ISIS leader was believed to be trapped in the Euphrates River Valley, as Iraqi intelligence officers embedded within the terrorist ranks have provided information to Baghdad about Baghdadi’s whereabouts.

>>207770 >Awinat -> Ghat Dangerous attack right there. Stretching so far into enemy territory creating a long and narrow salient is bloody dangerous. They need to expand their flanks after reaching the border ASAP
>>207784 Don't worry, most highways through deserts in Libya are like this. I find it hard to believe the lazy mercenaries even bother launching ambushes here. They should definitely sweep the flanks and "secure" the border (it's impossible to really secure such a vast territory) though. Besides, the flanks are nothing but desert, mountains and rugged terrain, the only thing getting reported are populated places. >>207786 IMO the deserts shouldn't be marked as being controlled by anyone, the battles are fought over the roads.
>>207796 Also, has anyone noticed that in Syria, the secular government tends to control the cities, whereas the Islaimist rebels tend to control the countryside? Which I'd say makes sense because throughout the world cities tend to be more Left wing and less religious. Yet it seems to be the opposite in Libya - the big cities are Islamist-controlled. This makes no sense to me... Anyone have any answers?
>>207831 >OMG *schnapp* Yep, I know where this one is going. Thanks for the compliment though. >>207832 Syria isn't comparable to Libya, since unlike Syria, the Libyan gov't fell. What you're seeing is actually a rebellion against the gov't that was in power throughout Libya after Gadhaffi. Plus keep in mind that the Tripoli gov't is backed by Italy which means a much shorter supply line from Europe than in Syria, Iraq, Afghan, etc, so fights in the cities are going to be harder than in Syria. Furthermore, Haftar doesn't have the direct support of a superpower, he's pretty much on his own as far as boots on the ground and planes in the air are concerned.
Unless I'm missing some major things, which I probably am.

>>207889 it's not cringe posting in itself, it's misunderstanding the whole war if it was a "secular" vs "religious" conflict then why would iran "religious" support assad while "secular" europe would support islamist the whole war is more complex than just that also the syrian government isn't secular at all by modern standards, that would be the kurds that would come close to anything like that if you want to support assad for this sole purpose of "at least he ain't no radical islamist" then good for you but to think that such is the objective of the war or the reason such actors like iran and hezbollah are siding with him is deluded; it's more geopolitical than simply religious also not everyone cares about the religious aspect of it all, if anything few people do, especially when you take into account the general position of said regulars over afghan conflict (more pro "religious" taliban vs few support for "secular" afghan government) also there is this misconception that secularism is "good" and opinions vary quite a lot, even more when you put it in the context of a massive anti-liberal/feminist/secular sentiment among regulars and the average /pol/tard but that would be a subject of itself

The Turkish military sent another large convoy into northwestern Syria on Friday, several local activists reported via social media.
According to reports, the large Turkish military convoy that entered northwestern Syria on Friday consisted of several trucks carrying cement blocks and equipment.
The Turkish military convoy reportedly entered Syria’s Idlib Governorate from the Hatay Province and made their way to the nearby Hama Governorate, where they delivered the equipment and personnel to the observation post in the town of Morek.
This latest move by the Turkish military comes just days after they sent a delegation to meet with the residents of southern Idlib in order to propose an offer to rent out their lands so that they can build more observation posts and block the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) potential offensive inside the governorate.
Currently, Turkey has a dozen official observation posts inside northwestern Syria and an unofficial one inside the northeastern region of the Latakia Governorate.

The economy? Low quality of life in FATA and KPK? Inept military leadership faced against okayish TTP leadership? And how did the government restore control and maintain control? I remember you saying that the government is currently working on raising quality of life in KPK, I figure this had something to do with quelling the insurgency. But still, damn. >>207997 >Was it corruption crippling the military? Yep corruption was far more rampant in the the paramilitary units that patrolled the frontier areas then the regular military.
>The economy? that has always been bad and has gotten worse still.
>Low quality of life in FATA and KPK? KPK is better off than FATA, people would go there for medical services and business from the agencies. It was the shit conditions within these agencies and the way everyone had been handling administration of FATA that created the environment for insurgency to take root. And everyone is to be blamed for this. The military, the government(both federal and provincial), the politicians and the tribes themselves.
>Inept military leadership Aye, the military was not prepared at all for the insurgency. They had been trained to fight a conventional war against India. Add in the existing corruption and sanctions from the pressler amendment and the ones applied after the nuclear tests(some of the restrictions were later lifted after the war began as a "gift" from the US but by then the sanctions had already taken a heavy toll on the capabilities of the armed forces) shit was real bad. The initial operations usually involved military bombing the shit out of a place forcing the insurgents out, cue a brown version of bushmissionaccomplished.jpg and the military would go back, with insurgents returning to the area again. The only units back then who were fighting effectively against the insurgents were the SSG and the NLI regiment but both were taking heavy casualties and being deployed in nearly all engagements combat fatigue was starting to set in. Also remember the military had made ceasefire pacts with TTP effectively giving them control of some areas in the vain hope to stop them attacking Pakistan and shift their focus to Afghanistan but they never lasted long and they kept on pushing forward(both sides would blame each other while some would lay it was Al-qaeda for stirring shit up not the TTP).
>okayish TTP leadership Bear in mind quite a lot of the TTP members were veteran of the civil war as well some as fighters from the kashmir insurgency groups such LeT JeM etc who were pissed off because of Pakistan's apparent alliance with the US. Add in the Al-qaeda, TIP, ETIM and IMU you get very capable fighting force on your hands in quite a large number.
>And how did the government restore control and maintain control? The government barely did shit (especially the two that were elected after Musharrafs time) they were too busy with their own faggotry. It was the military that mostly took care of things after introducing COIN curriculum reforming the military and the paramilitary units forming light commando battalions from the Infantry units(they werent good as the special forces but were better than the regular infantry and took the pressure off from the former) and appointing Pashtun high ranking officers in command of operations as they under stood locals and their customs and rebuilding infrastructure destroyed in the fighting( UAE really helped out in this regard. They gave a alot of cash for rebuilding). Also in the military effort to get TTP to stop fighting Pakistan instead focus on the afghan war(few of them did and some surrendered to the Paki military on seeing what TTP had become at this point of time. The ones who surrendered were integrated into Aman Lashkars which comprised of militias from tribes to patrol the areas cleared) but the real factor which broke the TTP in my opinion was their infighting. Though cells still do operate. Cross border raids do take place(and whoever tells you that the fencing of the border will stop the raids are outright bullshitting you).
>I remember you saying that the government is currently working on raising quality of life in KPK, I figure this had something to do with quelling the insurgency. Again these economic packages are mostly for the areas compromising of FATA(they are now being integrated into the KPK province thus extending provincial rule over the area and all the rules and regulations that come with it). This should have done a long time a go. >But still, damn. That created a dangerous situation You have no idea how bad things had gotten. Every place was getting hit be it schools, hospitals, mosques along with military and government institutions. A friend of mine used to joke that before the war if there was a suicide attack people would run to mosques to pray for peace now the people run away from them.
>especially since this took place inside a nuclear-armed country. I remember reading that once a US delegation came to Pakistan and asked to reveal all of our nuclear stockpiles and offered to takeover for safe keeping from terrorists. The Pakistani official blew his lid and told them to go fuck themselves this was just what the US and the Indians wanted so they fuck us sideways later. I dont know how credible this report was but I do believe the Americans had(and still do) contingency plans to take control through force if necessary.
