Numerous news outlets, from MSM (ABC, CNBC, Bloomberg, etc.) to less conventional sources (Breitbart, Newser.com, etc.) are offering conflicting reports about Rod Rosenstein and his position as Deputy Attorney General.
Some sources claim he offered his resignation to Chief of Staff John Kelly, while others claim he is unwilling to resign and will only leave if he is fired, which some sources allege he was called to Washington for just that purpose.

Having read nearly a dozen reports, here's my take on what is actually going on. I can't speak to Breitbart, but I will allege that media outlets are floating this story to raise panic and concern with regard to the fate of the Mueller investigation and 'muh Russia' in advance of the midterm elections to further fuel Democrats, and to potentially sway Independents and some Republicans to vote against Conservatives in the upcoming midterms, further hoping to influence the chance of Democrats retaking the House of Representatives.
